Story
So we've all heard those lame dragon stories, right? Well, here's one I think (and hope) you'll like:
A few hundred years ago, back when creatures of myth still roamed our green planter of Mylia, people paid no mind. But then slowly, slowly, the figures we believed to be omni-present forever more started to dwindle. I alone knew what would happen to the friendly races, and I told no one. No one noticed the populations were smaller until it was too late, as the last of the final nonhuman race died.
However, as the years passed, people soon forgot about both out allies and our enemies, passing off the extinct peoples as myths, fables, stories.
Present day Mylia:
Not much has changed across out humble planet. War has broken out, only to be quelled by peace and tranquility, and people no longer believe in the life-form of legend. But I and only I know of what the future holds.
Recently, a whole petrified dragon has been in discovered in a cave to the north, on the mountain Myst, called so because of the wall of fog and mist surrounding the accursed thing. Or at least, everyone thought it was petrified. As they tried to remove the frozen beast from the cave, he broke loose from his rock prison and lived again, killing and eating the explorers as a message to others. Calinor was free once more.
He began wreaking havok on the people as soon as he was able, and there was no one to stop him. Everyone was helpless.
However, while seeking new refuge for their towns in the concealed Sacred Wood, called thus for no particular reason, six teenager stumbled upon some oddly-shaped rocks caught in the dirt and weeds. Feeling strangely compelled by some unseen force, the six complete stangers took the rocks to the center of the huge forest to an alter-like pedestal within a circle of trees. They placed the rocks on the pedestal in a circle, and in a bright white flash of light, they all went blank. The next thing they found was themselves at home, the rock each had found sitting at the foot of each of their beds. None had any memory from the previous night, not even with their meeting at the alter.
After some inspection, each discovered the rock to not be a rock at all, but an egg of some sort. They were all shocked to find out that within three days, the eggs hatched at the same time, revealing a baby.
Everyone knows human babies don't come from eggs, thus confusing the six humands as to how to take care of their new... children? Pets? However, it didn't the hatchlings long to grow and delevope into teenagers themselves. Obviously daffled, each peron asked, "What are you?" without hesitation.
Each newborn responded with a simple, "I am a dragon."
The odd pairs, the humans and the hatchlings, now wander for someone to help them. Someone to give them direction to put their talents to good use. Someone like me.
Who am I, you may be asking? I am the magician of destiny, the last on the planet who can read the future. I am a prophet. I am Merlin, the magic-man of legend and tall tale alike. And I am here to help you on your quest.
