Aibisho sighed softly as he curled up against the wall of the den, shutting his eyes as he relaxed in the heat. It had taken them a while, but at least no one else had really bothered the, no matter all the strange glances they had gotten. He supposed the queen's word was as good as law around here, at least as far as membership went. He still wasn't sure what he thought about that nutjob and her even crazier daughter, but he supposed as long as Chanda didn't end up getting him killed, it was fine and dandy. All he really cared about at the moment was a small reprieve from the heat and sun, in the den and the little shade it offered.
"So, Kenna, she's quite the chipper one, hm?" he asked lazily, cracking his eyes open a fraction to see where Chanda had gotten to. She was somewhere in the den, he was sure. She'd practically been filled to the brim with excitement at being home, but he thought she was just too tired to go out and explore, or visit with anyone. Not that he really minded, he was plum ******** beat his damn self.
He rolled onto his stomach and let out a deep sigh of satisfaction from the cool floor of the cave pressed against his body, yawning widely as he settled his head down onto his paws.

Chanda wasn't too far away, about halfway between his laying form and the entrance of the den. She was seated rather stiffly, her gaze on his form with her head tilted slightly. She was wondering if it was really okay to have brought him here, firekin blood or not. Would he be able to get used the harsh elements, would he learn quickly how to interact with the other firekin? As his voice filled the cave and his eyes began to upon her gaze swung away, toward the entrance. She snorted slightly. "The queen is.." She trailed off and shrugged slightly. Chanda thought she was stunning, she seemed not only strong but also intelligent. She was beautiful, very large and powerful... but she was terrifying as well. "I think we're around the same age." she said after a moment, avoiding speaking any judgment of the queen's character. She didn't want to say anything negative, surprisingly. But she wasn't sure why she turned it toward her childhood, it wasn't as if she'd known Kenna when they were both younger. She hadn't known anyone.
"So.." She glanced toward him, getting to her feet and stretching. "Don't tell me you are already worn from the heat?" Her tone was teasing, sarcastic. She almost had wanted to speak in a playful manner but at the last second she'd stuck to how she always was with him, nasty in tone and character. She moved along the den wall, finding the furthest possible spot from him before sitting again, trying to feel more relaxed. Her heart was still racing, it'd been racing since their run-in with the queen, but she could hardly lie to herself about the reasons why it was like that any longer. "This is pretty light, actually." She added, trying to make up for her nasty tone, trying to have some sort of normal conversation. "It can get a lot hotter. And the night.." A sort of horrified expression came over her features as she thought about the night in the desert. Right, it was freezing cold and... well she supposed she'd always had the added warmth of her siblings when she was younger. Her gaze dropped to him and she could feel her heart climb into her throat. "Well let's just hope you don't freeze to death your first night here." she said, her voice wavering from normal conversation to bitchiness. Right, she would chance freezing to death herself. She would not seek warmth else where... it couldn't be that cold, could it?

"You're the same age?" he muttered, opening his eyes fully now to look up at her. Well, if she didn't want to talk about how ******** crazy her precious queen was, that was fine with him. Well, he supposed now that he had gotten himself into these lands, she was kind of his queen too. "Could have fooled me," he finally said with a snort, a chuckle escaping his mug as he let his eyes droop again. That female already had cubs, and it seemed it was a while ago, since that one was quite a bit older. The thought of Chanda with cubs, or even just one cub, was almost laughable - she was way too much of a b***h to be motherly, in his opinion.
"No, I'm not worn from the heat," he snapped, opening his eyes again to look at her as she got up and sat as far away from him as possible, "I'm worn from having to walk all the way through the desert to bring your a** home. Not to mention, we've been traveling non-stop since we left the jungle, I think I deserve a little bit of a break, don't you?" He gave her a hard stare before grumbled something under his breath and put his head back down. He was way too ******** tired to play this game with her right now. If she wanted to b***h and fight with him, she could at least let him nap first.
It was her later comment that made him laugh, eyes still shut even as he responded. "Oh right, it gets pretty damn cold, doesn't it?" She'd mentioned it to him before on their long a** journey. "I'm sure you're warm enough to use for some midnight snuggles, eh? Even I wouldn't let you freeze to death."

Her eyes narrowed, wondering what the hell he meant by that. Her tail flicked away and back to her in an annoyed little snap as her lip curled slightly. "Well no one said you were the brightest lion in the bunch." She spat at him, unsure why she was feeling so offended. It was rather amusing she'd choose such an insult though, considering she was far from intelligent herself.
Well she'd accomplished what she was good at doing; getting him in a foul mood. And there he went, holding the fact that he'd brought her here over her head. She sneered and her claws raked against the floor of the den. "Right, so you're just tired from traveling that short distance." She raised both her brows, now she was just trying to push his buttons on purpose. "Bringing me here but staying yourself... really it's not my fault then, is it? I've supplied you with a place to live." In reality she knew she was also very tired as well, but she felt much to tense and jumpy to sleep just then, she disliked the feeling immensely.
At his laughter she frowned, again feeling offended. Did he think this was some sort of ******** joke? You could die with temp- what did he just say? Her eyes widened slightly and she could feel her heart climb into her throat, far enough up that she found it hard to breath or answer. The image alone she'd received from hearing such words made her blood feel as though it was boiling, and her train of thought was failing her completely. No, right.. she was being ridiculous. He was being an a*****e. The conclusion she'd come to in her mind helped her calm herself down, a little. "What, don't think you could make it on your own?" She said, despite the fact she thought she'd calmed herself she could her the nervous quaver in her voice, and she cursed herself silently. She looked away from him and slowly lowered her body to the cave floor, curling up as an excuse to no longer face him.
But it was no good, she felt restless. After only a few moments she rose again, stalking toward the entrance and sitting there, peering out at a few lions in the distance going about their business. Her gaze flicked toward the sun and her tail shifted across the den floor. It wouldn't be long before night actually fell, a few hours at most. Her ears flattened against her skull and she glanced toward the lower left of herself, but she couldn't bring herself to look at him again. "I was sure my freezing to death would have thrilled you, and you seem to have misunderstood. I'm not worried about the cold, I grew up here after all." She wanted to kick herself, her voice still felt strangled. Why now, why with him of all lions? She'd never thought of anything in a romantic or even lustful way. Ever. And now it felt as if her hormones were going crazy... with a lion she loathed. It made no sense at all, and tomorrow she would end it. She would go find herself a proper firekin. Right, there were probably plenty of strong, worthy males still left in the pride that were worthy of her attentions.

He just snorted at her sneered words, too tired to get into a war with her about how immature she acted compared to the queen. It was also too much of an effort to try and explain that he thought a lot of it had to do with the fact that Kenna was a queen, not to mention, she also had a litter of cubs (and there was no telling how large it was). There was a lot of responsibility there and hell, it was simply more that Kenna acted older than the age he thought she should be, not that Chanda particularly acted less. Too bad he just didn't give enough of a s**t to tell her that.
"You didn't give me s**t," he snapped suddenly, his eyes opening to look up at her. He had brought her here, for no other reason than because he felt bad for her, and he had stayed because of this stupid ******** attachment that he couldn't understand. All of this for her, and all he wanted to do was sleep - couldn't she give him a break? "The damn queen gave me a place to live, so don't get off thinking you've done me some huge favor. I got what I wanted out of doing you a favor."
He sneered at her, feeling his good mood slipping as he shifted his weight into a more comfortable situation. Why the hell did she always have to start an argument? Whatever happened to leaving well enough alone? "Oh, I'm sure I could make it on my own if I wanted, it just wouldn't be all that pleasant." He hissed out his words, then shook his head, looking up at her. "Yeah, you were here for a little while, weren't you princess? You've been living out in the rogue lands since you ran away. I'm betting you've gotten pretty soft." He snorted and put his head down, shutting his eyes again. "We'll see how much you enjoy the cold tonight, if you want to be so stubborn."

Her gaze narrowed as she watched the few remaining members left out in the sands all heading in different directions, seemingly done for the day. Her ears flattened when he announced she really hadn't done anything for it, and she rolled her eyes. Her tail flicked and she stared moodily out over the lands, something of a pout on her features. Luckily he couldn't see her face, she figured. Still, he wouldn't have been here in the first place if she hadn't been needing to go home, so when it all came down to it she really had been the one to give him this land to stay in. In her very childish and confusing way of thinking of things, in any case.
If the queen did you such a favor why don't you just go make yourself comfortable in her den. The thoughts were sour and she was surprised she didn't just blurt them out, like she usually did with everything on her mind, especially when she was feeling as annoyed and confused as she was at the moment.
Wouldn't be that pleasant? She shot a glance over her shoulder this time, one brow raised and her face scrunched as if she couldn't really understand what he was saying. His eyes were shut again, he must of really wanted to sleep. "As if this is pleasant." She muttered, loud enough for him to sleep before looking ahead again, shifting and then sinking to her stomach so her paws were against the sand outside of the den. At least she could catch the last warmth of the sun without thinking of how unpleasant this actually all was. When he wasn't driving her crazy or making her feel stupid he was sending her heart leaping into her throat- which was a fairly new development but she liked it happening least of all.
Soft? Her eyes widened slightly, as she realized what he said actually made a lot of sense. She could clearly recall the many nights when she'd first come to the rogue lands, at first fearing she'd freeze because she didn't have her siblings for comfort and then not being able to sleep because night was almost as hot as day in the rogue lands- which wasn't very hot in the first place. "Hmph, certainly enjoy it much more than seeking heat from such a jackass." She spoke quietly again, just loud enough for him to hear as if she too was growing tired of the argument, but needing the last word.
She sighed deeply as she continued to watch the land, listening intently for the rhythmic breathing that would mean he really was asleep, and then she could find some place to curl up and sleep as well, perhaps able to fall asleep still warm while the last bits of sun remained.

"No, it's really not pleasant," he murmured, getting irate now that she just wouldn't let this drop. All he bloody wanted to do was sleep, but she had to keep throwing in her bitchy little comments, getting the last word, muttering under her breath. He would have thrown her out of the den right then if he thought he was big enough to do it. "Because all you can do is moan and whine and b***h about this and that. Are you ever ******** happy, or is it just your purpose in life to complain about something every second of the day?" His eyes had popped back open at this point to stare at the back of her head, though he couldn't see her head.
"If you would rather sleep all night freezing, that's fine by me, okay? You won't die, I won't die, it'll just be uncomfortable. So just shut up about it, would you? I'm ******** tired and I'd like at least an hour of sleep before the cold has me waking up every two or three." He was getting pretty pissed off now, as his voice was rising in volume and his eyes were pretty wide open. He could feel himself tensing up with every word, the fire in his words stinging.
He finally let out a growl of frustration, pushing himself up into a sitting position. "What in the bloody hell is your problem? Why the ******** won't you let me go to sleep?" As far as he was concerned, up until this point, he'd been pretty nice today. That was saying a lot of him.

"The second one." She growled out, shaking her head slightly as she lifted it a bit away from the ground. Wouldn't he just go to sleep already? She wasn't about to lose, she didn't lose arguments and that was just the way it had to be. Really he should have known that by now, even if he had bested her a few times since they'd known each other. But while she could keep it up she didn't mind saying the most trivial of things if it meant she could get the last word in.
As his anger grew Chanda found herself feeling even more confused, and a little stunned. He usually just let it go after a while, and he usually didn't shout no matter how loud he got. She could feel her muscles, tense and uncomfortable. But still, these feels were much preferable to the ones that came about when they were actually getting on well or anything like that, and if it meant bringing him to this point then she'd do what she had to. She held her tongue when his voice became too loud, the light of dusk finally covering the lands. Fine, he wanted her to shut up she would. She'd let him win, this time... wouldn't he just go to sleep? She couldn't sleep like this with him, so close in quarters with him. She hadn't even tried it once and she knew her night would be filled with tossing and turning, and not from the cold. Why?
Her thoughts were just getting the better of her when she could hear his body shift against the den floor, and she bolted up much too quickly, almost as if she'd been afraid. She hadn't really been thinking, except that if he was getting that angry then there was a good chance he'd resort to violence, or maybe just kicking her out of her own den. As she twisted her body to watch him, glare in her eyes as usual, she felt a little foolish. Right, he wasn't about to attack her... she was the one that usually ended up using her claws when things weren't going he way.
"Let you?" she growled back, her own voice matching his in volume. "I'm practically begging Finar-si to make you pass out so i can finally get reast you ******** selfish p***k.. can't you just ignore that I'm saying and go sleep your damn self? Let you.." she scoffed at the very end of her sentence, though her expressions had been a bit amusing while she was talking. She probably shouldn't have hinted that she couldn't sleep with him awake, and the expression on her face had mirrored her worry. Still, he was much too tired to care about anything she was saying, she hoped.
She clicked her tongue in annoyance before getting back to her paws and stalking toward him, past him, and to her little corner, dropping down and curling up for a second time. "You don't need my ******** permission, just go to sleep yourself." Sulky as ever, it seemed.

He wasn't sure what it was about her jumping up like she did when he shifted, the way she threw herself into a defensive motion, but it made him angry. He had never even raised a paw to her the entire time he'd known her, not even when she nailed him across the face as cubs. The thought made him grit his teeth and narrow his eyes at her, and he finally just pushed himself back up to his feet, tired of trying to get to sleep now in such close quarters with her. How had he managed this the whole trip they had been on? He supposed to the open space must have contributed to it.
"I shouldn't have to ignore what you're saying to try and sleep," he said, turning to look at her, his jaw clenched as he watched her. "You should have the damn good sense to know when to shut the hell up and get over your need to have the last word, because you just end up looking like a ******** fool." He was sick and tired of playing this game, mostly because he was worn out and she had been forcing it on him for days. Sure, he'd played in the beginning, probably instigated it - but just because he was a grump naturally didn't mean he wanted his every day life to be filled with this nonsense.
"I'm going to find somewhere else to ******** sleep tonight," he muttered, turning away and heading for the entrance of the den, "so you can have some alone time. Sit in your little corner there and think about why you have to be such a b***h all the time, maybe." He snorted to himself, though his orange-gold eyes were narrowing on the failing light outside. He hoped he could find another empty den before it got too cold in the desert. He just wanted to sleep, and he knew he wouldn't be getting that here - the rotten brat.

A ******** fool, was she? Her tail lashed back and forth as she lay there, a sour expression on her maw. Her jaw clenched tight with the effort of finally shutting up, just watching him. Her teeth hurt from the force she clenched them together, her nose wrinkled and finally she looked away, staring across the den at the opposite wall. Right, she was just a stupid b***h. So what? She really couldn't figure out why that was so bad, maybe he just needed thicker skin. The angry expression had slid into something of a frown, but her face was still scrunched and it made her look confused more than anything else.
Her ear flicked as he stated he was going to leave and she could only think that she should have left first- her den or not. She just glanced toward him and curled her lip slightly, pulling a face at him. "Good luck." She spat, though her gaze had fled past him and toward the entrance, seeming to take in the time of night. It wouldn't be long before the cold filtered through the lands, she doubted he could find somewhere that quickly. Somewhere empty, anyhow. He better pray to Finar-si that he didn't stumble into a den already filled with ill-tempered lions. She almost told me not to bother with it, to stay. Almost.
As he slipped out of the den she waited a moment before slinking toward the entrance and poking her head out just a bit, gaze flicking left and right to see which direction he'd gone. "The moron better not freeze to death.." She muttered sourly, to herself. "Could just see it now... his ******** spirit coming back to haunt me... proclaiming it's my fault." Her lip curled with disgust at the thought, but her eyes seemed worried. She sat herself at the entrance, body leaning heavily against the den wall. She sighed deeply, shaking her head and wondering just why she'd had to bring it that far. "I really am a moronic b***h.." She continued to mutter to herself, eyes shut lightly. And now how could she sleep until she knew he was in a ******** den and not in danger of freezing to death? She would not be at fault for him dying. No way.

He was being stubborn, he knew that, but they were both stubborn in their own ways. She always had to have the last word in any of their arguments, and he could never admit he was wrong. One of those times just happened to be now, as he lay huddled up on top of a rock, frowning as the cold crept in on him. He'd look for another den, honestly he had. He was just already so tired, all he wanted to do was sleep, and there weren't any empty ones near the one they had already found. Sure, it would have provided him with shelter from the cold - but honestly, how cold could it get out in the desert? He wished he had known.
He had been gone for a while, and the cold was already making his bones ache. He knew he had a while yet before the temperature stopped dropping and it made him wish he had just gone back to her. Maybe she would have already been asleep, and he could have slipped in without her even saying anything. Doubtful, she probably would have woken up straight away if she had sensed that she had the opportunity to rub it in his face. That thought certainly didn't help his decision to go back and seek out the warmth of the den.
He let out a little sigh and curled in closer to himself, huddled up. His eyes shut and he tried to force himself to sleep. He couldn't really freeze to death out here, could he? He doubted it, it was already past winter, mostly, and moving on into the warmer months. It would get cold, and it would be uncomfortable, but he thought he'd survive. He didn't account for the fact that any number of sicknesses could befall him, though, just from subjecting himself to a night of plummeting temperatures.

She didn't really know how much time had passed with her sitting against the den entrance, eyes shut and tail flicking back and forth irritably. Had he found a den? Or was he sitting out in the cold... she may have been an idiot but she was smart enough to know that if he hadn't found a den he wouldn't be coming back to this one. And in that way she decided it made him even stupider, stupid because he was going to try and sleep in this frigid air. Already the sun must have been gone, the chill was entering the den and she shivered slightly, eyes finally opening. She was very tired, but also very worried. She wanted to sock him in the face for being able to make her worry like this, it wasn't very fair.
Her gaze floated around the sea of sand before she shook her head, stalking out of the den. She could just snoop around a little, until she made sure he was safe. Though Finar-si knew she'd be more thankful if he was dead and gone and she could just get on with her life! She tried to take in his fading scent as best she could, stalking silently across the already cold sands. She paused at a few dens, his scent barely there and mixing with a stronger scent of a family or couple which must have been occupying the den.
Her eyes jerked toward the left and the right and as the minutes seemed to pass by faster she felt her stomach twisting into knots. Seven dens and he hadn't been present in any of them, from what she could tell. At one point his scent finally broke away from the den area and she almost felt thankful. Her muscles felt tense and she was growing tired, stalking through the land in such a hunched manner as to try and keep warm. It was very uncomfortable, and the faster she could figure out what he was the faster she could go back to her den; which was much warmer in comparison.
Her eyes shifted onto a large rock not far in the distance, an obscure shape heaped on top of it. She would have bet her tail that it was that moron. Stupid, arrogant... idiot! What was he thinking trying to sleep out here? What if a sandstorm kicked up.. or.. She shoved the worries away and grumbled something, furiously working over what she should say once she finally reached him. "If you couldn't find a den you should have just come back.." She growled out, doubtful he was asleep in such uncomfortable elements. "You should come back if you don't want to die or get deathly sick or something... it's not going to be my fault." Her words seemed to come out forced and awkward, and in truth she thought she was being rather nice toward the whole matter. "I won't say anything else." She finally added, staring at the rock he was on rather than him. She stood perfectly still, if not for the cold shaking her limbs, and hoped he'd just listen to her. It was almost as good as an apology, wasn't it? But he better decide fast, she hated this cold.

He had been about as comfortable as one could imagine getting on a hard, lumpy rock in the middle of a frigid, sandy desert at night. That was to say, not very comfortable at all. Still, he was so tired and worn out, he felt he was about to just drift off to sleep anyway now that he had finally stopped wandering around. Of course, as luck would have it, that damned voice came out of the darkness not too long after he'd settled, waking him from the half-sleep he'd been in. If he knew he hadn't been dreaming, he would have called it a nightmare.
"I.." he began, his tone already settled on a snappy remark, before he shut his words off. Without the shield of his drowsy sleep, he could feel the cold that had settled on his body, and knew she was right. He might get sick out here, even if he didn't die from the cold itself. He narrowed his eyes on her and grit his teeth, fighting the anger that welled up inside of him at the thought that was bloody right for once. Yeah, he'd been a moron, but he couldn't very well just waltz back into the den without being asked or.. without expecting her to say something. He supposed now that she was here telling him to come back, it was different.
"Fine," he sighed out, grimacing as he pushed himself up slowly onto his paws and climbed down from the rock. His joints already hurt and his body felt heavy, like the blood had decided to stop flowing. He looked down at the ground for a moment, willing himself to come around before finally nodding at her, "thanks." It was a mumble, barely audible, but it was there.

Her gaze narrowed at the snappy tone, wondering if he wanted to have round number two. She was a little relieved when he cut himself off almost immediately though, and she swallowed the vile words that had been rising in her throat.
As he clambered off of the rock she thought of telling him to hurry up; she was cold and ashamed she'd come seeking him out like this. She was pissed at herself for worrying... and relieved he hadn't been mauled by some firekin that was even worse off than herself. She could feel her heart thumping almost painfully in her chest and she looked away, already stalking in the direction that her den was in. Her ear flicked back just watching the thanks and she glanced over her shoulder, seeming surprised. She looked away again though, feeling awkward and unsure of what was going on. She knew it'd been her fault in the first place, even if it had been his bloody pride that had kept him from just storming back into the den. "Mm." The sound barely left her throat though, she wasn't sure what to do with a 'thanks'. Had he ever thanked her for anything before? It was doubtful she'd done anything to warrant it, but the one word from him made her feel strangely satisfied.
"And don't you dare complain when we get back." She muttered, even if she was the complainer of the pair. "I don't care what I said before, I'm too damned cold now not to... to.. " Her words faltered as she realized she wasn't really sure how to word what she wanted properly. "Sleep close to you. You can just deal with it... and I swear if you try anything!" She growled out, glancing over her shoulder but looked ahead quickly enough. Surprisingly her tone wasn't bitchy, it was pretty normal even though it seemed rushed. "Making me worry enough to come out into this bloody cold.." She muttered under her breath to herself, but her cheeks suddenly felt rather hot and she was trying to keep her mind off exactly why they felt that way.

He simply followed her as she began to walk, feeling cold and drowsy, probably because he's been out here so long, coupled with the fact that he was already so tired. He listened to watch she was ranting about, nodding his head with half shut eyes as he followed along after her. He was too tired to argue back right now, to be quite honest.
"M'too tired to try anything," he said, finally, eyes narrowing on the back of her head. He thought about telling her he wouldn't even consider trying anything with her, mostly just because he found that insulting. What kind of lion did she think he was? Sure, he was a grump, but he had morals. Still, the thought of sleeping next to her was strangely intriguing, so much so that it left him almost eager. The thought caused him to furrow his brows and stare at the ground as they walked, and for once, he was glad he was following her and not leading, just so she couldn't see the expression on his face. Maybe he was just getting confused, he was grateful she had come to his rescue after all.
He let out a sigh of relief as they finally came back upon the den, moving to brush past her and heading straight for the back of the den, where he assumed it would be the warmest. With a grumble (probably at his aching body), he lowered himself down and curled up, already putting his head on his paws. At this point, he'd welcome the warmth, just to defrost his bones. He rolled his eyes up to her, waiting, though he could feel sleep digging its claws into him already.
