Is the question limited to bands, or could a single musician also answer the question?

I would want to meet the Sgt. Pepper era Beatles and Robert Smith of The Cure. I'm really not the kind of person who follows bands that much these days.

I don't know that many bands, but I'd probably want to meet either Paramore or Disturbed. Maybe Bond, too... I dunno.

Hmm... Voltaire, obviously. Pink Floyd shortly after they wrote The Wall. Midtown. Gorillaz. The Feelers. (I MAY be getting a chance to do this later this year, if all agoes well.) Shihad. Opshop. However, NOT Cobra Starship, as I'm sure Josh would expect. If I won a competition, sure I wouldn't give that up, but I wouldn't be all upset about it. Those last three are New Zealand bands. Actually, they're three of the best bands on the planet, but I'm biased...

Sure, I've met him before but having a longer time to talk with him than I had and keeping it more one-on-one would've been nice. You know that meeting Gorillaz would be impossible, right? Aside from that guy from Blur (I think it was Blur's lead singer that voices 2-D), no actual humans are involved closely enough, so far as I can tell, to actually be called "Band members," in the traditional sense.

Last I heard they were all real people, however, if they aren't, then I shall change to Damon Albarn (The guy from Blur.) Actually The All-American Rejects would be interesting people to meet too. Tyson is INSANE. In a good-ish way.

Hmm... If I had to pick one band, I can guarantee you that it would be Tool.
Aside from them?
- Nine Inch Nails, especially prior to Charlie Clouse's split from the group after the release of Halo 8: The Downward Spiral - Clutch, mostly because they're just awesome - Primus, as Les Claypool is an incredible bassist, and I'd love to get lessons from the guy after I get my hands on another bass. - Marilyn Manson and his crew, preferably before Twiggy split off and switched over to Nine Inch Nails - Therion - Green Day - ZZTop - Red Hot Chili Peppers
There are others that I'd like to meet for sure, but I'm not going to list them for one of two reasons (or both): One, because I don't feel like creating a ten-page list of such bands; and two, because I probably don't remember the name of the bands.

Just because a band is good doesn't mean that there's any real reason to meet them. Long silences with talented people are no more fulfilling, are they?

Just because a band is good doesn't mean that there's any real reason to meet them. Long silences with talented people are no more fulfilling, are they? While you are most certainly correct with this, the main bands that I want to meet are the first six mentioned in that list, along with Tool. Tool, being my all-time favorite band and having actually been a fan of theirs since '04 or '05. It has since progressed to me being able to list off damn near every song on every album in order of album release and track number. While this is only six album and roughly 65 tracks, that's still a lot of memorizing, and took me quite some time to do.
Now that I'm done saying that... Like I had said before, if I had to only pick one, it would most certainly be Tool. Most of the bands that I would like to meet, though, are set as such because I feel that there is something useful that I could get from extended conversations with them.
I do, however, look forward to when Tool resumes touring. I'll most certainly be doing everything I can to get tickets for at least one of their concerts.
