i want to get an orange amp. just a combo amp though. the crush 30. but i also want to get the line 6 spiderIII 15. the line has got some great effects and its loud as hell for 15 watts. but i want to get an orange. dont know why. what should i get? on the other hand i dont use many effects, just a wah and the amps distortion. so i dont think i need the line6. but i ve tried one and its loud. any other suggestions for amps? (combo amps that are loud enough for small gigs)

I'm going to second the Spider Valve motion.
I can use it for anything and so long as I turn it up it KILLS.
Seriously, this amp will do Jazz, blues, rock, old metal, new metal and quite possibly Nu Metal.
you can upgrade various things too. For example: replace the sovtek crap tubes with Mesa or better. Bias it properly and you will have a GREAT Mesa Mark sound, or a creamy butter smooth lead from the channels you'd expect it from.
It also comes with a buttload of presets that you can start from to model your own killer sounds.

Line 6 actually isn't that loud. Its got good effects but lets just say its got a lot but at the same time its not so great when detailing. Like clean sounds are clean enough. At least thats just me. And isn't a orange a tube amp?

Its good to practice with but ... it loses its touch when it turns up .

I don't know why so many people hate Line 6, but I've nothing but great work with them. There was only one gripe I had which was I wished it had a presence control, but that was fixed with an EQ pedal. Maybe I've just been lucky to deal with only the good sounding ones. lol
Just try it out at GC and ask them to take it into the the back room for you because you need to fully exploit the tone.

I never thought anyone would actually have difficulty choosing between Line 6 and Orange. Not saying Line 6 is terrible, but Orange amps are just amazing. Be forewarned, they're incredibly expensive though. Spider Valves are indeed sweet.

I'd definitely go for the Orange. Every Line 6 I've tried out has pissed me off, maybe I just don't know how to get a good sound out of them or whatever, but I find that Orange Amps sound loads better.
