Spring was on it's way. Whether by instinct or through the clues of the world around her Jia Li knew it. She moved slowly through the southern most forest her eyes only open far enough to make sure that she did not crash in to a tree or step on some innocent creature out for an early afternoon stroll. Though if she opened them too far she would lose the sound of the trees moving around her. It was a very calming sound, a soft rustling as the bare of budding branches moved against each other in the soft breeze. If she had been still it would have been enough to put her into a trance and possibly lull her in to a deep sleep.
Right now she could not bring herself to stop and listen as much as she wanted to. This was the first truly warm day she had experienced since the lady of ice had taken up residence on the land. There was a place out this way that had been quite nice even covered in snow and she very much wanted to see it without all the white powder. Would it be just as nice? Perhaps it would be even more lovely.
She let out a gentle happy sigh and let her eyes slip shut for a moment as she imagined how it could look. When her aqua eyes met with the light once again she froze finding herself mere inches away from the trunk of a grand old tree. "Oh..." She said softly taking a few steps back. This was exactly why one should not move with their eyes shut. Accidents could happen. Painful accidents.
She bowed her head politely and turned away from the tree to relocate her path. "I would make a terrible bat..." She murmured back tracking a little ways to pick up the path at a turn and follow it once more.

Ryuu sat still in his usual spot, when the snow had been crisp upon the ground there had been less opportunities to come here but now that the snow and ice had undergone the change back into water he felt welcomed once more. Before he had closed his eyes to meditate he had noted the scenery, lush bark and fresh buds ready to open under the wave of spring time, the mist has begun rising in the early morning allowing the suns strong rays to penetrate and light up the creatures that lingered and foraged in the comfort of the shadows.
As he meditated he felt each cell in his body relax, warmed softly by the suns rays. He was content with his thoughts. Within his mind he focused on the chirping of birds and the rustling of animals as they emerged from their homes. Ryuu had always been fascinated by the daily routines of others, the way they rushed and lingered, the way they reacted or retreated. He believed that the very essences of a person could be seen from their expressions.
Since Ryuu was new to these lands he felt no connection to the soquili here, yet a sadness that lingered in his heart longed to feel a connection to someone else, someone with a similar attitude towards the world as himself. It was almost comical to consider such possibilities considering the number of long journeys he had taken in the past that had resulted in failure, perhaps he was destined to remain alone bar the spirit that lurked within his heart.
The dragon stirred, as it always did when a negative thought floated through Ryuu’s mind. For as long as Ryuu could remember the golden dragons essences had been bond to him, and although it had caused more problems than it had solved he knew deep down how empty he would feel without it.
Suddenly Ryuu heard an unfamiliar noise, it stirred him from his thoughts as he opened his eyes slowly and turned his head. He could not see any creature lurking by the trees but that did not mean one was not there. Patient as always Ryuu waited to see if the fates would reveal their mystery or not.

As she continued on her way Jia Li found herself more and more aware of the sights around her. The budding trees, the mud in the path where snow had once lain, the thin streams of water that the ground had not taken in, and the stunning shade of blue the sky had taken on. It was all very pretty but still she was tempted to return to using her ears more. Though the thought of potentially running face first into a tree made it less tempting. She would wait until she was still to go back into that peaceful state.
Until then she entertained herself by taking in anything she could see with her eyes. Tiny plants sprouting for the first time, little birds flitting about from tree to tree and something large and golden just to the side. She paused somewhat surprised to see that it was looking her way. It was not an 'it' at all however. There was a definite look of a horse but the captivating green eyes seemed almost unnatural.
Realizing now that she was staring she quickly dropped her gaze and her head in a little bow. "My apologies, I didn't mean to intrude on anything." She said slowly razing her head being careful about where her eyes went. They scanned the surrounding area quickly expecting to see another somewhere near. It was not often that she stumbled across others alone especially not out so far. Unless of course they didn't want company or if they were sleeping.
She glanced back over to the golden horse somewhat nervously. The most likely possibilities both marked her as a bit of a nuisance at this point. Oh dear. Well, if that was the case then she would take her leave should she be asked. If it wasn't then worrying over it and leaving would be extremely silly.

Ryuu’s eyes locked on the mares pooled blue eyes. For a moment he completely forgot about his surroundings, it was as if there was nothing else in the world bar the dainty mare before him. The suns suitable light lingered upon her patterned pelt beautiful through the trees causing his heart to miss a beat, unsure what to think he was glad that she broke their gaze; it was proof that once again he had been out of line. Embarrassed he lowered his own head and listened politely to her unprecedented apologies, sighing he raised his head once more and gazed upon her face once more, "No need for your words m’lady." Forcing himself to distraction he moved his eyes to gander at the scene of natural beauty that lay out before him once more, the birds danced their courtship dances as they collected material for a spring time nest, the buds upon the trees slowly started to unravel as they made their way to full glory once more.
He longed for a change of subject, it would be up to her if she felt the need to leave or stay as he would not deter either action. Slowly he spoke, "The world is beautiful this morning." He closed his eyes once more and inhaled one large breath as he cleared both his mind and lungs. Thinking straight once more he kept his eyes closed in a half meditative state, his words left his lips in a near dream-like-whisper; "Why not join me? The forest sounds so enthralling at this time of the day."
Then he returned to his world of darkness, the sounds of the world dancing in his mind as splashes of colour while he visualised their true forms. Chirps, rustles and dew drops falling lit up his darkened world, but those eyes also lingered. Blue, like the sky and the ocean combined. Enchanting.

In her mind she let out a sigh of relief. It appeared that she was not bothering him after all. Or at least it seemed that way. There was a brief silence where neither would look at the other that felt a bit awkward. Though she chalked that one up to her feeling a bit embarrassed for staring in the first place. It was tempting to let out a sigh once again but she held it inside. She had never been one to be socially awkward so this was a strange feeling for her.
The sound of his voice broke through her thoughts and drew her attention back to the stallion. "Oh? Yes it is." She smiled politely with a tiny nod of her head. It seemed they were taking a turn to the typical conversations that could be had any day with any person. She was fine with that. She knew the steps for those types of conversations well and while they were dull they were also easy.
Trying to half-anticipate what the next question would be she partially retreated into her thoughts. As time passed, however, she found herself focusing more and more on the stallion before her instead. He wasn't smiling cheerfully in the typical 'nice-to-meet-you' fashion but rather looked like he was half asleep. He spoke once more and for several long seconds it felt like the world had come to a halt around her.
The reason he was out here alone was not because he was trying to sleep as she had thought. No, he was doing something she often found herself doing every single morning. "You...too?" Her voice was distant even to her and it sounded somewhat stunned. In all her travels she had never encountered another, outside of her family, that spent time simply listening.
Not one to reject such an offer she stepped off the path and quietly made her way a bit closer to the golden stallion. She let her eyes slide shut slowly as her ears slowly swiveled about. The sounds of the world began to fill her, relax her, and just as she was about to slip away her eyes landed on the mark on his leg. What was it? She wasn't able to focus on the thought long enough to figure it out. The sounds of the birds and the trees were too captivating to give her attention to anything else.

At her faint question he merely nodded, unsure if she required an answer to her question or if she was simply talking to herself quietly. He had seen may soquili acting
Eyes still closed he allowed one ear to focus more on her movements than the sounds of the forest, justifying to himself that she was a simple creature of the forest and so also deserved her movements to be catalogued. First he heard the rustle of drying blades of grass, then a soft sloshing sound as the watery dirt skidded below her hooves, then there was silence bar the delicate breath that entered and left her mouth.
Forcing himself to focus on other things he tried to imagine the birds as they came back to the lands after a long flight south for the winter. They were yet another sign that spring was bubbling around them, ready to explode as a rainbow upon a canvas that was once white. Suddenly he found his muscles relaxing as he became more comfortable in his surroundings once more. Inner peace spread like a calming stream within him as he drifted from his body to float above the world of colours in his mind.
Suddenly he found himself snapping out of his trance, it was rare that he fell so deeply into his meditating. Focusing his eyes he saw the form of the mare still close by, her pelt shimmering like diamonds in the now bright sun, it was then that he noticed the intricate blue hair accessory that dangled delicately from her hair. Realising that he was staring he looked back towards the forest and began to stand up once more opening and closing his mouth slowly, it was dry and sticky, the type of sensation that could only be quenched by the cooling liquid of a stream. He spoke slowly, almost distant as he attempted to listen for the sound of water, "do you know if there is a stream nearby?" For a moment he wondered if she would care to join him, or if she would simply go her own way after being distracted by the forest long enough, he was unsure what her original purpose had been so early in the morning.

The sounds around her were what others would consider 'noise' but they were playing a symphony right now. The world was a beautiful orchestra singing a song for all those that would listen. The wind whistling through the trees carried the main melody. The trees themselves took the baseline and rhythm. The animals moving across the ground and scurrying up the trees added that special flare that all great songs needed and the birds returning to their warm weather home sang the words completing the song. It was quite breathtaking really.
When a new sound joined in her ears twitched. The sound of the ground shifting nearby made her eyes slowly open to see the blurred outline of the stallion standing. She blinked a few times so that the light would work with her eyes rather then against them and soon his form was actually a form and not just a shapeless blob.
"A stream?" She repeated sounding slightly dazed. Hearing her voice like this she realized that her mind was still not focused on the world around her. She tossed her head lightly and waited as her mind caught up with her. When it had she was able to actually think on the question. She turned her head in one direction and then to the next trying to figure out exactly where she was now. After a while she finally figured it out and smiled.
"I'm not sure of any streams, I do not come out here often you see, but I do know of a river to the east of us. If you would like I could take you there." A tiny part of her scolded her for not going on with her original plan. That little voice was squashed by nearly every other bit of her mind. Not only was it polite to offer assistance to those in need but this was also a matter of personal interest. This was the first time she had met anyone really who enjoyed listening as she did. There was also the matter of his entrancing eyes and that unusual mark on his leg to take into consideration. With all of that her trip to see something in springs warmth did not seem nearly as fascinating. Her mind was settled on spending some time with the unusual stallion if it were possible.

Ryuu smiled at her responce, perhaps streams were only common higher in the mountains, closer to the source? He would investigate later, for now he would travel to the East with the pretty mare of similar colours. He nodded politely, fearing taht he was starring a little too much at the delicate mare now. He spoke in his strong yet gentle voice, "That would be wonderful, thank you." He lowered his head a little as if to bow his respect and thanks. He assumed that if they intended to travel East theyw would first have to venture back down the hill through the wild green trees that allowed splashes of light to shine through.
He waited, if she was to act as the 'guide' then he would wait for her to take the lead, having no issue in following a mare anywhere. After all, he hoped to one day find a mare who he could share his way of life with. Perhaps.... NO! He shook his head, a silly notion so soon after meeting someone, so foolish that he would not even permit himself to finish thinking it.
As the started their adventure towards the river he smiled, watching and listening to the trees, the breeze and the small animals. They continued about their day as if nothing else in the world was changing, as if nothing else of interest was happening. It always fascinated him. After a while he found himself looking at the mare once more, perhaps he should allow his own curiousity to take over? This forced an even bigger smile upon his already doppy looking face. He continued to look towards her as he spoke, so that she could not mistake that his words were directed at her. "My name is Ryuu Zu. What may I ask if your beautiful name fair lady? Or shall I simply call you that for the rest of our journey?" He hoped that his words would come across as friendly and funny rather than arrogant, for that was never his intent.

She smiled gently as he accepted her offer. "Very well then, let's be off." It wasn't very often that she actually got to assist someone so she was grateful to him to have the opportunity. It was even rarer for her to encounter someone interesting or like her in anyway. To have all three things presented to her in one moment was a truly spectacular gift from the spirits of the world.
Not wanting to waste time dilly dallying around she stepped out in front of the stallion. "It's this way." She said giving a graceful bow of her head in the proper direction before setting out. She selected the the most direct path that she could think of not minding the number of obstacles that would meet them down the way.
As they moved nothing was really said. She was able to enjoy the sounds of the world as though she were traveling on her own. The prickly feeling on the back of her neck and the sound of more hooves then she had made it quite clear to her that she was not alone. She had company and it seemed that company was watching her as though she were the interesting one.
As he spoke she found a smile creeping along her lips. "You have a gift for flattery Ryuu Zu." She said softly turning to glance over her shoulder at him. "You may call me that if it pleases you but my name is Jia Li." Never before in her life had she been called beautiful by anyone outside of her family. It made her feel a bit strange and oddly cheerful.

As they traveled he had noticed futher how she too seemed to enjoy the noises of the world, indulging in the creatures as they went around their daily hardships. It was nice to meet someone who appreciated the world so. A rare gift.
Just like the gift she had now spoke, her name. For the name of any person is sacred, it is said that within a name contains the personality and the soul of that person, fragile and gentle. He was not one for meanings but he was sure that Jia Li meant something wonderful, perhaps it was to do with nature or beauty? Either would be rather fitting. At her reply he let out a soft chuckle, "Then beautiful Jia it is." He continued to smile, ducking under a low branch to catch her up and walk beside her. "You seem to know these forests very well, I must admit to admire such skills." Ryuu was sure that in time he would come to understand and know these forests just like the ones of his homeland but that would take time, patience, and a lot of getting lost. All things he would not do in the presence of a lady for looking a fool.
"How much further do you predict?" He said through curious eyes, he was in no rush but always liked to have a small grasp on his eventually destination. He mouth was a little dry still from sitting in the morning sun but it was nothing he couldn't handle.

Her face grew a little warm as he called her beautiful once more but she didn't try to hide it. She heard his hoof steps quicken and before long she was able to look at him just by turning her head slightly to one side. She did just that as he complimented her knowledge of the woods. "I grew up here." She said finding her internal maps of the area to be nothing special. Still she had found herself smiling as he had said it.
"It shouldn't be too long now..." Jia Li replied after taking a quick look at the surrounding area. It was looking more and more familiar the further they went. She was beginning to recognize individual bushes and trees as ones that only grew with a good deal of water. Where they were now marked the edge of where the river reached when it overflowed from time to time.
To get a more precise estimate for at least herself she closed her eyes to view the world through images painted by only what she heard. With her eyes closed she could clearly hear the river rushing not too far in the distance. They were quite close indeed. Her eyes opened and drifted to look over at the golden stallion. Would that mean that their time together was nearly over?

((Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww............. how cute XD hehehe.))
Ryuu understood completely when she spoke of how she grew up here, the forest that he grew up in was carved into his memory and he knew that no matter how long he was away from it he would always remember the basic outline, for of course new trees sproated and old ones fell all the time. Still it was impressive, not everyone had the power to retain such knowlegde in such detail. He smiled, allowing his eyes to pick up key features of their journey so that he would have some sort of a chance of finding his own way when they parted. This forest seemed vast indeed.
Politely he nodded to the reply to his question, his dry throat already liking the idea of water being so close at hand, yet a part of him wondered if this would mean the end of their short lived adventure? Only time would tell on that one.
With each step they took he noticed how Jia Li seemed to relax ever so slightly, as if she was suddenly more comfortable with her current surroundings, he looked around his ears picking up the faint gushing of water in the distance, and when he turned to look at her once more he noted that she had her eyes closed. He looked ahead of her, trying to look for low hanging branches. There was one not too far from her so he moved a little closer to her and tugged it in his mouth so that it was bent out of her way. He imaged that she would not appreciate being hit by something in the company of a stranger.
The silence was nice, he never found it threatening but calming. A good time to collect his thoughts. Watching her path he waited for her to open her eyes once more, every now and then looking in the direction they were travelling to see if he could see the river he could now clearly hear. Soon enough he could, its flowing blue surface bubbling clearly over rocks and pebbles as it carved its path into the ground.

The unnatural sound of creaking wood made had her ears twitch as she moved. If she had seen what he had done for her she would have felt dreadfully embarrassed for being so careless. It was not like her to act in such a way. It was just that it was relaxing for her to walk like that. Thankfully he had more sense then she did and had saved her from the branch.
Of course had she known what he had done for her she would have also been pleasantly surprised. She was not used to such chivalrous behavior from stallions outside her family. Oblivious to the situation she watched him curiously. He spoke less then she did which was quite an impressive feat on it's own.
Her puzzling over him was interrupted as the sound of the rushing water grew ever louder. Pretty aqua eyes turned away to look at the stream. They were there.
"Well...I guess...I should be off then." She said slowly, softly and with a somewhat forced smile. If he didn't want her around she would not bother him and would depart...even if she didn't really want to.

They reached the stream, and once again he could see the pretty mares beautiful pooled blue eyes. They were so deep he was sure he would lose himself in them if he looked for too long. Looking towards the river he lowered his head and sipped from its cooling blue liquids, somehow the river did not compare to the blue of her eyes. As she spoke he found his heart missing a beat out of sadness, he had assumed she would want to leave but so quickly? It was not usually in his nature to stop anyone from doing what they wish but there was a hesitation in her voice which interest him. So, pulling himself up tall once more he looked the mare squarely in the eyes. He would be honest with her, plead with her just a little to stay a while longer and see where things eventually lead them.
"Beautiful Jia" he started, smiling softly and bowing his head a little out of respect, "if you wish to leave I shall not stop you, but I must admit to wanting to spend more time with you." He paused, wondering if there was a need to say anymore. Yet even a stallion of few words needed to express how he felt every now and then, "you are a fascinating creature to me. So I hope you will grant my request for a little more time."
The truth was their journey had been nice and refreshing to him, but perhaps due to his more silent nature he had neglected to discover more about the mare other than their obvious similarities, yet something was drawing him closer and he knew he couldn't simply turn his back on it. However, if she did pick to go home he would not stop her, the day was still young and for all he knew a young handsom stallion awaited her back home and Ryuu had merely been a distraction, a stranger in need. Either way he still admired her, helping another without knowledge of their intent or who they were was always risky, but it took bravery to look beyond that.
Not wanting to appear as if he was staring her out he lowered his head once more to take yet another sip of the refreshing liquid. His throat was no longer dry and the tenderness disappeared.
Slowly he started to Swish his tail from side to side, not really thinking about what he was doing as it the long hairs flickered water and mud up his legs and towards Jia. Yet he seemed a little preoccupied to realise it as he continued to sip the cooling liquid.
