Poke stood outside the house, ready and waiting with the charmander she was using, for the battle to start. Just opposite of her stood the professor, his bulbasaur in front of him looking as if it couldn't wait to start.
The children, as always, were nearby and watching with baited breath.
"this will be a interesting test to see just how much you know about pokemon battles, poke" The professor smilied.
"Go uncle!" Timmy yelled out from the sidelines. " I know you can win!"
"aren't you gonna chear for me at all?" poke asked
"Why should I cheer for you when I know you're gonna lose?" Timmy said back. "Our uncle is a pokemon professor, why would he lose a rookie like you?"
"who said I was a rookie?"
"now now, don't start fighting you too, This is just for fun and games" The professor silenced them both. "Ladies first"

"Right, I better do this the proper way then..." Taking out a pokedex from her pocket, poke opened it up and let the device analyse her charmander in order to get it's attacks.
"hmm, metal claw is the strongest, so I suppose I'll use metal claw! Go charmander!" She pointed forwards, and the pokemon jumped into battle with it's claws glowing bright white to signal it's attack.

Bulbasaur: 150HP, Charmander: 200HP
"Interesting attack choice poke..." The professor commented as the charmander came down on the bulbasaur, it's claws slashing at th bulb on it's back and causing it to cry out in pain. "I thought you would use a fire type move, since bulbasaur is weak against fire types."
"Bulbasaur!" Commanded Gum. "Use Leech Seed"
From the bulb on it's back, a small seed appeared and came flying out of bulbasaur, headed straight for charmander.

Bulbasaur: 160HP, Charmander: 180HP
The seed was able to hit the charmander on it's tail and, once itt ouched the scaley skin it exploded into life, vines growing out and around the pokemon, aready beginning to suck life from it.
Inwardly, poke was smacking herself for forgetting the obvious. How could she not realise that a fire attack would have the advantage here! oh well, it didn't matter now.
"Charmander, use Ember!" She called out. The charmander then turned around and swung it's tail, spraying the other side with fire hot embers
Ember: 40 + 10 (charcoal) x 1.5 = 75

The embers sprayed all over the gras pokemon, even catching fire in some places, and left it puffing for breath from all the pain it was suffering.
"Impressive attack, though always going for the offensive isn't always the best stragegy, you know"
"Sleep powder!" He called, and the bulbasaur now released a fine mist from it's bulb, which sprayed all over the other side of the field.

"You have got to be kidding me...." poke said out loud as her charmander feel asleep right there on the field. She wasn't aware the bulbasaur could do this. Either she had gotten rusty, or Gum knew how to battle effenitely. Well, he was a professor...

The professor knew well enough not to celebrate just yet, for even if her pokemon was asleep, it could still wake up and pull in a victory.
"Poision powder"
"Now, the bulbasaur sprayed more powder over the field, but this time the power was a purple colour instead of a light blue.

Status aligment: sleep, poision.
and as if things couldn't get any worse, her charmander was now poisioned. She could tell from the way the charmander flintched in it's sleep, and the purple tinge on it's cheeks. There wasn't much she could do now but to hope that her pokemon would wake up. And soon.

Luck was still holding out for the professor as his opponents pokemon refursed to wake up. He had cause all the status problems his pokemon was capable of, now it was time to do some major damage.
"Bulbasaur, use vine whip!" Gum comanded, and the bulbasaur released it's vine like appendages from underneither it's bulb. They rushed forward in order to give it's opponent a few good whacks.

poke was complety stunned by the sheer force of that vine whip. It whacked her charmander into the air, and then landed right back on the ground again, hard.
"come on charmander, you can't just lay there and take this beating!" poke yelled out in a desperate attempt to wake her pokemon up.

Somehow, Charmander had somehow found the strength to dodge the massive take down attack by the bulbasaur, and now it stood there, battle weary but still standing.
"It's time to show that bulbasaur some revenge, so use a ember!" poke shouted with enthusiasm. The pokemon matched it's trainers words by slashing it's tail in the air, throwing embers everywhere.

The charmander couldn't take any more blows. as the whip came crashing down, the pokemon buckled and fell to the ground, fainted.
"That....was amazing!" poke said to the professor, while Timmy and amy came running up to their uncle, timmy obviously cheerying and whooping.
"It really wasn't that great" P.Gum said, obviously trying to be humble. "and, you nearly won yourself. Your charmander dealt so much damage with ease."
"But you knew exactly what you were doing uncle" Timmy objected. " and -and the charmander had fallen asleep while you poisioned and , everything!"
"well, it was a fun battle in the least, wasn't it poke?" he asked her and she nodded with a smile. "well good, I'm glad. Now then, how about we go inside and tend to our injured pokemon. I can't stand to leave a pokemon so injured and beat up."
The professor Wins!
