 Harvey was sitting in the snow with his head cocked to the side. His ears twitched as they caught the sound of small feet hitting the snow. He leaped up and bounded towards the snow. Maybe he'd get lucky today! He steadily gained on the small white rabbit using his ears and nose to find out where it is. He readied himself for the leap when suddenly the rabbit's noise disappeared. "Dang it!" He shouted. The rabbit had escaped into it's hole before he could reach it. He stood over the hole for a good minute before sighing and walking away. "Guess I'm not eating again today." He muttered as he walked back to his sitting spot. His ears flicked as his blindfold ends brushed up against them. He lifted a paw and brushed it against his left ear.

 Upon a nearby hill, a white and blue Helix lay nearly invisible against the snow and sky. He tilted his head and flicked an ear, watching the odd little pup below. Silly thing's fur was too dark and brightly colored for the North, wasn't it? Still, had to give the kid props for trying.
Yawning and stretching, Yahto felt a couple of his joints pop before he stood and shook out his fur. Normally, the North was a pretty solitary place, especially for a Helix without a pack. However, without questioning why he was doing so, Yahto padded down the hill, his paws light on the snow that crunched beneath his weight.
'Not going to catch much like that,' he commented lightly upon nearing the pup, pausing to eye the blindfold on the kid with some curiousity.

Harvey's ears moved when they picked up the sound of snow being stepped on. He turned his head to face the new helix and looked at him with his blind (I think they're light blue XP) eyes. "You never know." He said swishing his tail against the snow. Should he get ready to run? Was this helix as bad as the rest? "..... Um....... So..... who are you?" He asked trying to sound casual and failing. One could easily pick the sound of near panic out of his voice. Getting a bit nervous he began pawing his left ear again.

Something about this kid just wasn't quite right. It was his eyes...they gave Yahto an odd, uneasy feeling...wait a minute...was he blind? Kid's eyes seemed a bit unfocused, like he wasn't really seeing what he was looking at. In that case, the blindfold seemed a little less out-of-place.
Yahto smirked a bit, easily detecting the growing anxiety in the pup's manner. 'Name's Yahto,' he admitted casually, realizing how odd his name sounded in his ears after so little use. 'And stop fidgeting so much. I'm not going to eat you.' His voice was cool, touched with a bit of snide amusement. The North was a harsh place, but he wasn't one to turn to cannibalism. The adolescent had learned to fend for himself well enough without that.

Harvey forced himself to stop fidgeting. "Hello Yahto." He said tilting his head. He was trying to figure out what exactly he was hearing in Yahto's voice, sounded like amusement but it could be something else. "I'm Harvey. And.... um... It's nice to meet you?" He asked more than said, "I'm sorry. I'm not used to being around others and those I have been around were.... well not good." He sighed then shook his head. "Anyways..... What do you look like exactly? I'm quite curious since I can't see you." He attempted to grin and play off his blindness like it was no big thing.

Harvey, eh? Well, he couldn't exactly call it a weird name. What in the world did 'Yahto' mean, anyway? 'Eh, I suppose so. I wouldn't know, since I don't see many other Helixes around here. Though, the North is a harsh place for a pup, especially alone,' he muttered knowingly. Shaking off the passing thoughts, he continued in a lighter tone, 'Plus, you don't look much like a rabbit. Probably wouldn't taste very good anyway.'
Ah ha, he thought so. Yahto had never met a blind Helix before. That in mind, he supposed the kid's attempt on the rabbit earlier hadn't been so bad...considering. Still, the pup was a curiosity and if he couldn't see him anyway...
Yahto tilted his head, leaning down a bit to look at the pup's eyes a little closer. Odd. Almost like Harvey wasn't looking AT him, but instead was looking THROUGH him, at something beyond that no one else could see. It was...more than a little bit disturbing...and yet, also the most interesting thing that Yahto had run across in a long time.
'Err, well, even if you could see, you might have trouble seeing me. I sorta'...blend in with the snow.' He chuckled softly, then wondered when was the last time he'd laughed at all. 'My fur's mostly white, like the snow, except for my paws, ears, and muzzle, which are blue. Got a few other markings in blue too, here and there, the biggest being one that looks like wings on my shoulders. Not real ones, of course, just colors.' He felt like he was rambling, but the kid had asked a question and he had no reason not to answer. He'd had to look for himself one day in a frozen lake at his reflection to see what he looked like. He'd never had anyone else to ask to tell him what they saw.

Harvey tilted his head at Yahto was saying. "I guess it is a bit harder here for a pup like me than anywhere else. But I'm already used to it here so it doesn't bother me." He said smiling, "Yeah I doubt I taste good. Probably too scrawny for anyone's taste."
He gave a puzzled look as Yahto leaned down to look at his eyes. "Um.... what are you doing? I feel like you got close all of a sudden." He said sniffing the air, "You smell.... smell..... Ah.... ah.... CHOO!" He suddenly sneezed and wiped his nose with a paw. "Sorry about that."
"So you're white with some blue and blue wing markings...... Sounds cool Yahto." He said smiling, "I've been told that I'm red squiggles! On black fur with my sweet blindfold." He grinned as he thought of his blindfold but began to frown as he thought of why he had it. He hated the fact that he had an ugly scar over his eye and that's why he had the blindfold.

'Yeah, probably. That, and I wouldn't eat anything nearly that brightly colored...'
Blinking, Yahto pulled back in shock. The kid could tell how he was looking at him? Creepy. And a little unnerving. Though, the adolescent supposed, the pup had to have some ability if he was even attempting to hunt for himself afterall. He supposed it should be admirable or something, but to be honest, this was all still a little too new for him.
'Err, nothing, just looking,' he muttered, reaching up to wipe his muzzle with a paw. 'And 's fine. You got a cold or something?' He paused, thinking for a moment before speaking again. 'Hey, kid. I got a question. If you can't see anyway, what's with the blindfold? I don't get it.' You didn't mince words much in the North, so Yahto had learned to be blunt and to the point. It wasn't so much he was trying to be rude...he just had something he wanted to know, so he asked.

Harvey smiled when Yahto mentioned how brightly colored he is. "Am I really that bright?" He asked with his head tilted. He shook his head at the question. "No I don't have a cold. It's just your scent tickled my nose." He said wiggling his nose.
He paused at the second question. He had instantly felt defensive at the question but he like Yahto so far and paused instead of flipping out. "It's there for an important reason." Was all he said starting to grow cold (personality wise). "Does it really matter why it's there?" He was being to withdraw from how he was around Yahto.

Yahto gave the Helix equivalent of a shrug, commenting, 'Not too many rabbits running around here with bright red swirls on them. Least not before you catch them,' he chuckled grimly. Ah, Northern humor.
Quirking an eye at the sudden shift in demeanor, the adolescent flopped down on his haunches and glared. 'Hey, kid, watch the attitude. I might decide you look tasty afterall, bright swirly things or not. It was just a question anyway. You brought attention to it in the first place; I just didn't get the logic behind it.' His tail swept the snow from his hindquarters in it's twitching movements, however, his irritation cooled in moments. The freezing atmosphere might have something to do with that...or it might not.
Still, a few moments later, he muttered, 'Well, if you don't wanna' talk about it, then fine. We won't. Just don't go bringing it up again yourself, then get mad at me for asking questions. Not gonna' make a lot of friends that way.'

Harvey glared in his own blind way at Yahto. "Fine then." He huffed turning his head away from the older helix. His tail swished in the snow helping cool Harvey's irritation.
After a few moments he turned his head back to Yahto. "Sorry about snapping. I've had too many helixes pick on me by taking my blindfold away and then by teasing me for having it." He said laying down. He began rolling around in the snow. He had an itch on his back that had appeared a few minutes ago and he couldn't stand it anymore. "So what brings you here?" He asked, "Besides me being here."

Hmmph...if he hadn't grown up in the North, Yahto might have felt bad about snapping at the kid, especially since he was only reacting that way because of habitual bullying. However, this was the North, so he merely let the matter drop because pursuing it would only be a waste of time and energy at this point, even if he still didn't understand it all.
Who knew? Maybe the kid was just quirky that way.
'Just finished off a small meal...well, more of a snack...and was resting and cleaning my paws when I heard you hard after that rabbit earlier,' he commented evenly, watching the pup wiggle and squirm on his back in the snow. 'Figured I'd see what all the fuss was about.' Seems he'd gotten more than he'd bargained for in the entertainment field.
'If you're still hungry, we could try again. Not that I could give you any tips or anything, likely, 'cause I'm too used to using my eyes for hunting...but two sets of paws are sometimes better than one.' He wasn't sure why he was offering to help the kid. Granted, pack hunting was definitely a more successful method of doing things, but he had little personal experience in the matter. And while he could stand to eat a bit more, he'd survived longer on less many times before.
Maybe Yahto was just quirky too.

"Lucky. I haven't been able to catch anything these past couple of days." Harvey said hopping up, "Did it sound like a fuss while I was chasing that rabbit?" He wiggled a little bit before sighing. "Looks like I need to find a tree or rock. My back is so itchy."
He stopped for a moment considering the offer. "Sure why not. I need to eat something and with your help I might be able to get something." He said smiling, "Just need to find something first." His stomach growled as he thought of eating some rabbit or even deer. Sniffing the air and cocking his ears, Harvey tried to find something close by. However the world was quiet in this area. "Do you mind if we do some walking? I don't hear anything around here."

'When everything is dead silent, even the fall of footpads on the snow sounds like a thundering storm. Plus, you DID shout at the rabbit after it disappeared,' Yahto quipped lightly, hiding a smirk. 'But yes, I'm pretty sure we've scared off anything nearby by now. Let's head towards that forest. Bet we can find you a good scratching tree, and maybe something to eat while we're at it.'
Standing and shaking the snow from his fur, Yahto stretched and set off for the line of trees in the distance, taking care to slow his normal pace so that the shorter-legged pup could keep up.

Harvey chuckled. "I guess you're right. It does sound like that and I did yell at it." He said smiling, "Ooo I haven't been to the forest yet! I wonder what it's like." He was nearly bouncing with excitement.
When Yahto began walking Harvey ran after him. He was listening to the fall of footpads on the snow to follow the older helix. When he was caught up he sniffed around. One could see he was thoroughly enjoying himself. "Hm... We'll probably have some trouble since I'm so brightly colored as you said.... Perhaps I can herd the prey while you lay in wait?"
As they walked further it became harder for Harvey to walk as the snow grew deeper. Suddenly he sunk through the snow as he walked right into a snowdrift. "Um..... help?"
