This is a strong medicinal tea. It's not meant to taste nice but I still think it tastes better than cough syrup.
2 cups water 3 cloves garlic (quatered) 1 fat piece of fresh ginger, the size of your thumb (sliced) Dash of cayenne. juice from 1 lemon (or 2 tbsp of lemon juice) Honey, to taste.
Bring the water, garlic, and ginger to a boil. Simmer for ten minutes. You should notice the water turn pale gold and become cloudy. Add in the cayenne and lemon juice. Pour desired amount into a cup and sweeten with honey.
Why this helps
The reason this tea is good for you is because ginger root is anti-inflammatory thus reduces inflamation helping with congestion, stuffy nose and headaches. Ginger also helps to releive nausea and aid in digestion.
Garlic on the other hand is anti-bacterial and boosts immune system, good for blood circulation too. Garlic is very useful in the relief of bronchial coughs, asthma, and head colds.
Capsicum (cayenne pepper) is said to be unequal for its ability to boost circulation and increase heart action. Because Capsicum boots peripheral circulation and stimulates organ secretion, it expedites the therapeutic delivery and action of nutrients in the body.
Lemons are an excellent source of vitamin C, one of the most important antioxidants in nature. Vitamin C is vital to the function of a strong immune system. The immune system's main goal is to protect you from illness, so a little extra vitamin C may be useful in conditions like colds, flu's, and recurrent ear infections.
Honey is one of the oldest remedies. It provides an effective coating against sore throats and coughs. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases.
This is all just tidbits of info. You can easily research more.

But Buckley's is awesome! <3 I might have to give this a go. Living with three younger boys, one which has a nasty cough, has worn my immunity.
