Can I just say that in Spirited Away the parents drive me NUTS! whee I understand that Chihiro is supposed to be whinny and what not, but I feel like her parents are indifferent, rude and selfish.
I am glad that Chihiro turns into such a changed and interesting character in the end though.

 I don't know if I agree with you completely. I think it's creepy that they just start grabbing the food and essentially stealing it. But I gotta say, if my daughter was whining the way Chihiro was, I'd probably tell her to get over it too.
I loved that my friend's neighborhood in Japan looks like the setting of My Neighbor Totoro.
My favorite Miyazaki film is definitely How's Moving Castle though. It turned me on to Diana Wynn Jones' books (which the movie was based on).

I think we have a weird triangle going here, because the more I see Chihiro the more frustrated I get with her. She's annoying. But then again, I also have a certain ire towards Juliet...another character who is well liked in "pop culture."
I feel like she's too whiny. Her voice has that special little twinge to it that just makes you twitch. -twitches-

Miss Chloie I think we have a weird triangle going here, because the more I see Chihiro the more frustrated I get with her. She's annoying. I really love Miyazaki's films! Especially Howl's Moving Castle, and Castle in the Sky. I hope to see many more creative films from his company.

I also love the fact that when Disney gets stuck, they watch a Miyazaki film, and when Miyazaki gets stuck, he watches a Disney film. whee It's really cool that two creative giants can appreciate each other's works. 3nodding

I've seen a lot of Miyazaki movies and there's never been one I didn't like. The man is a genius. Here's a list of the ones I've seen.

I learned from one of my Japanese friends that Miyazaki has made a new movie, but it hasn't been announced in America or Europe yet! "Ponyo" There was more to the title, but I couldn't find it.
She says you can find it online with the English subtitles if you need them! 3nodding
