Texas felt alright. Meeting other people and seeing old friends had reminded him that his life wasn't over or somehow less complete without his old crush around, and it was nice. It was nice to sit outside and breathe in the fresh air, soaking up the sun as it peered through the clouds. It was almost spring time, a time of new beginning all over. Perhaps this was the start to a new beginning of his own.

The demonic didn't have anything in particular in mind to do, and so didn't stress thinking about something important or relevant to do. Instead, he sat down on a bench outside of the Pae'il Headquarters and leaned back, looking fairly content and not having any thoughts to torture him for the first time in a while.

Okay, so maybe there were still little bits of snow on the ground, and it was still a little chilly compared to full-blown spring time, but other than that, Texas couldn't see why anyone wouldn't want to be out here and had to admit that he was a little surprised no one was. Texas knit his brows in thought and leaned forward to take a closer look around. There had to be someone else out here, right? The weather was far too pleasant for any Pae'il to miss.

Even if there wasn't anyone else out here--silly on their part, but he would let them be--the weather was nice to just relax in. Instead of continuing to look around, he relaxed back into the park bench. Perhaps someone would come near, or perhaps not. Either way, he would keep enjoying this weather.

A gust of wind pulled a strand of golden hair out from behind her ear, causing it to dance idly along. With a sigh, Amethyst brushed the renegade back where it belonged and continued her own idle wanderings. Her mood had been rather foul as of late, the feeling that she had been abandoned by her one and only friend only intensified as time went on. She stared down at the latest interesting rock she had discover with no real interest or desire to waste energy bending down to gather it to add it to her collection. She'd always had a particular affection of stones and rocks and felt almost compelled to collect as many of them as possible, but lately the pastime held little interest for her. It was almost if she had been betrayed by them as well.

Bitterness overwhelmed her and she kicked the small little stone with as much effort as she could muster, cursing unnecessarily loudly as pain echoed from her foot. Despite her distraction, the teenager followed it's path with her eyes watching curiously at how far it would travel. Several hop, skips, and jumps later it came to a stop...at the legs of another pae.

A little more than surprised at seeing someone else, Amethyst belatedly took in her surroundings. When had she arrived at the Headquarters? She didn't even remember walking here. She stared at the male pae, silently taking stock of him. While he didn't seem threatening, she felt like she had somehow betrayed the little pebble by putting it within his grasp and that she had an obligation to go rescue it from his clutches. Though that would mostly likely require speaking with him which she mostly certainly did not want to do.

But, unable able to make the decision to move forward or to completely abandon the stone, she stood frozen.

Clunk. The sound of something falling in front of his feet took Texas out of his peaceful daze and returned him to the reality in front of his face. He leaned over and looked down, curious to see what had fallen to his feet. A pebble? Hm, that couldn't have fallen from the sky. He observed the pebble carefully before looking upwards to see if there was any possiblity the pebble could have come from there.

When he found that the rock falling from above would make little to no sense anyway, he shifted his glance back at the pebble sitting at his feet. If it had not come from above, where had it come from? Last he had looked, there had been no one anywhere near where he was sitting, as ridiculous as he found that. Perhaps it was an animal, or perhaps someone had shown up while he sat and absorbed the son.

Texas lifted his eyes from the pebble and decided to look straight ahead, hoping to find the source of the pebble. Indeed, there was a rather purple Pae'il up ahead which he had not seen the last time he had looked around. Perhaps he was soaking up the sunlight longer than he had thought. It seemed the girl was neither moving towards him or apologizing for punting a pebble in his direction, so he had to wonder if she even had any motivation at all.

...In any case, the pebble didn't hit him anyway. That part didn't matter. What did matter was getting this girl to stop looking like a deer in the headlights. "Miss?" called Texas, quirking a brow. "Are you alright? You seem a little frightened." Perhaps frightened was not the best word, but it was the best he could think of so quickly to describe her stunned state.

Amethyst jumped as she was startled back to reality from the war raging inside her head by the pae's voice. It seemed so strange to hear another voice. She was halfway tempted to turn around to make sure he was really talking to her but who in the world else would he be talking to? She already looked enough like an idiot she could well imagine. Besides he seemed nice enough....

Ame bristled at the word. "Frightened? I'm not frightened. I don't get frightened. " The nerve of this boy that didn't even know her to accuse her of being frightened! Her hand clenched involuntarily in response, momentarily turned to stone and back again as she resisted the urge to tell him she was just wondering how she had managed to miss hitting him with the stone, though she wasn't entirely sure why she didn't just say it.

Crossing her arms over her chest, she whirled about on her heel, intent on storming off in the opposite direction and never seeing the infuriating creature again when she suddenly remembered her poor forlorn stone sitting up there all by itself. Once more she froze, and after a moment's indecision and chewing of her lip she turned around. She swore she could feel his gaze following her every move and did her best to ignore the sensation of being watched ans she traipsed back to collect her rock. She bent down to gather it back up, looking it over carefully to make sure it hadn't chipped as a mother would look over her child.

"Sorry."

Texas all but reeled at her snappish response to his concerned question. He certainly hadn't meant to offend her, and he looked immensely bothered that he had managed to do just that. He saw her hand become stony and became nervous--Texas really hated fights, especially the unnecessary kind--but appeared to calm down once the stony hand turned back into something more fleshy. Texas did not want to be pounded into the ground today.

When she seemed to calm in the slightest, Texas stopped looking so bothered that he had offended her. Maybe it was alright now, or if it wasn't, she was no longer going to take it out on him. That gave him the chance to stop watching her so intently and move back into his relaxed daze. While having company was nice, she may have not wanted to be his company, and that was fine.

Sorry. Who was that directed at? Texas was soon alert again, looking straight in front of him to find the previously infuriated woman, stroking a small pebble as if it was her baby. He wasn't used to seeing someone so concerned about just a rock, but perhaps the rock meant more to her. He decided it was best to assume that she was apologizing to her rock as she was being so careful about it, and therefore did not give any hint that he personally accepted the apology. Instead, he just watched her.

"Do you like rocks?" While he didn't want to disturb her, he did want to make at least some form of peace.

Amethyst's eyes narrowed as she looked at him suspiciously, wondering his intent. But again she didn't sense any malicious vibes from him so she relaxed her glare in an attempt to be friendly. Strangely.

"I ...um. Yeah. Don't you?" She asked almost in disbelief. How could you not like rocks. Each one was so unique with it's own markings and personality.

(( It's all good. ^^ ))

It seemed that the demonic had guessed correctly. Or, at least, he had said something that had not appeared to offend her. Though this purple demonic in front of him seemed a little harsh at first, her expression calmed at least in the smallest amount. Relaxing back into the bench, he waited to see if the other demonic would give some sort of verbal response.

It seemed he was in luck! So this girl loved rocks, did she? It seemed that she didn't believe that Texas wouldn't like rocks. "Some rocks are interesting and different, especially those containing metals and elements I have not seen before," offered Texas Pete. "However, I do not make a habit of observing rocks. I'm more of someone to sit and observe everything as a whole."

The demonic flexed his feet, ignoring the small cracking sounds they made as he bent them. "Is there any particular reason why you like rocks so much?" This was a start. Instead of her glaring, they were having somewhat of a small talk based conversation.

Amethyst sunk to her feet on the ground beside him. For some reason she felt like talking to the demonic pae, strange for her, but he calmed her in some way.

She shrugged. "I dunno. I've always felt some connection with them. Maybe it's because I can do this. " She balled her fist up and watched as it hardened to a rock like quality, smooth yet craig-like. "Or maybe it's because a friend used to collect them with me."

She finally took them time to look him over, taking in all of his features. Before she had just processed him as a threat.

"So is that all you do? Observe?"

Texas was relieved that she wasn't turning around and punching him with that fist. A minute ago, she might have. "You do seem to have a direction connection with rocks, whether by the guardians' gift or by memory." Texas attributed most powers to the guardians now, mostly because he hadn't gotten any ability until the guardians gave him that golden note.

"Me? Nah, this isn't all I do. That being said," he looked back out to the environment, "it's beautiful out here, isn't it? It's nice just to take in the world and relax; a lot of people forget to breathe every once in a while and it sucks them up. Makes people edgy, irritable, and it makes them ignore the good things around them... know what I mean?"

After realizing what kind of question he had asked, Texas chuckled. "I'm being awfully philosphical. Sorry, that's not what you asked. I do lots of other things. I like to go to the beach and do things there, for example, like make sand castles. It's a bit childish I suppose, but somehow very fun. And you?" He reversed the question. "I assume you don't walk around all the time only collecting rocks."

Amethyst had followed his gaze as he reflected. At least until he began talking about being being irritable and edgy? Was he referring to her? She stiffened, ready to throw back a retort or a least a punch, when he moved on. She tried to relax, taking a deep breath, telling herself that he meant nothing by it. Just making a comment in general. Breathe. Breathe.

"I've never made a sand castle before. It sounds...interesting. And no of course I don't just collect rocks. I um...well...I do other things. I walk around in the forest quite a lot. It's peaceful." Mentally, she frowned, realizing that she really didn't do much more than collect rocks. "I guess I could always learn a new hobby." It took a lot for her to admit that.

He had definitely not been referring to her, as he was speaking generally, and it was a good thing she had noticed that or Texas would have been rather embarrassed at himself. The demonic was happy to see that Amethyst was willing to admit that she could use some new things to do. Sometimes, it was hard to admit that one's life had become rather routine. "Well," Texas stood up, brushing himself off. "Would you like to go somewhere and see what there is to do?"

It was the least he could do for her since she had admitted she could use a new hobby; maybe they could find her one. "We could always head over to the beach and make sand castles, though it is still a little cold if you mind that." He glanced up in thought. "There's always things to explore in the forest, and in the Pae'il Headquarters too." One of the demonic's favorite things to do was just sit back and watch the world go by, but he had a feeling that wasn't the type of hobby Amethyst would be all that interested in.

Ame considered the proposal, eyeing the HQ'ers suspiciously. She didn't care much for magic and the building seemed full of it. No she would prefer to leave that building unexplored and the forest was too well explored. The beach sounded like a nice change of scenery.

"Alright. The beach sounds like it could be entertaining. I'm not sure about that sand castle though. I guess we could try it." She liked collecting rocks but she wasn't keen on the idea of digging around in the sand.

"Might as well try it," offered Texas, with a smile, before finally getting up off the bench. He brushed any possible dirt off his sides vaguely, and then started in the direction of Tuatha'Ri Lake, beckoning for Amethyst to follow. He was pretty sure she knew the way there, but he stayed back just in case she was sheltered to the point where she hadn't really done much in the way of exploring the isle.

"There's plenty of interesting rocks at the beach, too. Some rather smooth ones wash up from the waters, and there's nice shells, too," offered Texas, hoping to intrigue her a little more with the idea of the beach. Even if she just went there to collect rocks, at least she would be doing it in a new place with new things to see... though he definitely hoped he could help her on her mission to get a new hobby.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 17, 2009 11:20 pm

"I suppose" Amethyst replied rather sullenly. She'd explored the beach before of course, she's explored most of the island. But the beach had always failed to hold her interest for long.

Raising an eyebrow at his "beckoning," Amethyst lightly sprung to her feet, resisting the urge to tell him that she didn't need to be led around like a lost puppy, mostly because she realized they'd yet to introduce themselves to each other. Manners weren't exactly the demon's forte, but she did know (and actively use) a few of them, the one she happened to believe in the most was that it was impolite to call anyone else by something other than their name.

It felt incredibly strange to be led instead of the one doing the leading and truth be told it was a rather uncomfortable experience for her. Trying to draw her attention away from the feeling, she made her first attempt at friendship in perhaps her whole life.

"So umm...my name's Amethyst. "

Texas hadn't been trying to treat her like a lost puppy or anything, but he figured it was the best way to get her to follow along. It did seem to work. When Amethyst caught up to him, Texas slowed so he could walk beside her instead of having her follow him. Amethyst? The name of a gemstone, it seemed fitting for the girl who could make her hands rocky and seemed to love rocks more than much else.

"I'm Texas. Texas Pete." The demonic smiled in turn, offering his hand in a friendly, open greeting. He had actually forgotten that he never asked her name, or had never bothered to introduce himself, but it was good to actually have something to address her by instead of just the purple girl who was previously going to try and knock him out with rock fists but now wanted a new hobby.

"I like your name," he offered, once she had shaken his hand. "It's fitting for you."
