Name: Gamoira
Age: Nineteen
Sex: Female
Craft: Vintner
Rank: Apprentice
Physical Description: Gamoira, often just shortened to Mo, is the type of girl that most people tend to avoid. Being both large and big-boned, she appears to tower over those she stands near just by the sheer size of her shadow. Size aside, she’s not even particularly pretty. Calling her plain might be stretching the term a little past its limits. She’s got a round face with dark, squinty eyes and a rather flat nose. Her skin has never been great, frequently calloused and marked up from work and getting into scuffles with fellow apprentices. She is not very careful with her body, and it shows by the number of small scars she has scattered across her skin. Her lip seems to curl naturally, giving her a near constant sneer. Though she does not look girly in any way, shape or form she does not feel the need to cut her hair and try to look like a boy. Boys are boys and girls are girls, as she has told anyone who has asked. Thus her walnut-brown hair is left long, tied back in a braid whenever she’s working to keep it out of her way. Her clothes are well-made but very common. Though she owns a Gather dress it is doubtful that she’ll ever wear it.

Personality: Mo has never been a very nice girl. Her mother instincts are severely stunted, though whether it's due to her circumstances or just natural instinct is unknown. She's harboured a dislike for children practically since she was one, and boys just serve as much-needed outlets for her anger. Dating and dancing are two words that you would never like to hear in the same sentence as Gamoira's name, and kissing is even more frightening than the above mentioned combined. She's the type of girl you find using her impressive strength to carry heavy loads and her impressive size to intimidate other people. While she generally has good control over her fists, her respect of the rules only goes so far. Mo has built up a resistance to the usual comments she gets for her appearance but some things still hit her hard enough to get a reaction. It's not unusual to find her doing extra chores because she's finally snapped.

Frequent teasing for her appearance and especially her intelligence has made her into a very quiet girl. She doesn't speak unless spoken to, and often times the only response you can get out of her is a grunt or a badly-worded sentence. Most of the time she regards anyone who approaches her with the kind of wariness that people get when they think that everyone is out to make fun of them in some way. And who can blame her? As far as her parents are concerned she has no talent, and as far as the Harpers are concerned she's unintelligent. Mo, however, is not stupid. At least, she's not life stupid. She understands very down to earth concepts with ease, it's the reading and writing that gets her. Things that she can do with her own two hands are what she remembers best, though repeated practice and structure is a good way to keep her focused. As a child she was deemed "stupid", so she eventually just gave up and moved on with her life. She has long since given up on people who won't give her the time of day.

She's a sullen girl with a constant unpleasant look on her face, which she does on purpose in order to avoid talking to those she doesn't want to. To those who have managed to find a place in her circle of trust, however, Mo is capable of incredible loyalty. She would gladly give up anything she has, even her life, to protect those she calls her friends. Though she allows them to make other friends, she must always meet these friends for a first impression. These first impressions are very important, and she has no problem chasing off "the wrong kind of people" if she thinks they're going to hurt her friends.

History: All Gamoira’s parents wanted was a child who could take over their family business. There had been scribes in the family for as long as anyone could remember, and it was hoped that such skill with the quill would be passed down to such a well-bred daughter. Gamoira, however, sent all expectations plummeting to the ground. From the beginning she demonstrated a below average intelligence, frequently forgetting her Harper-learned songs and falling behind in her reading. Her parents, fearing that she would amount to nothing more than a kitchen drudge, sought to get her apprenticed to anyone who would take her. Since the vineyard always needed hands to help them pick the grapes, her parents managed to get her apprenticed there (with a small bribe to help glaze over her lack of intelligence).

Manual labour seemed much better suited to her needs, and she enjoyed her work in the vineyards. Most of the other apprentices avoided her, which suited her just fine. She had not intended to make any friends (nor to rise above the rank of apprentice since she had no real interest in winemaking) but somehow ended up befriending the well-liked Hesendek. Initially she had ignored him like the rest of them, but after his obvious effort to befriend her as well as defend her from some of the nastier tongued apprentices, Mo decided that he was the friend for her. She made herself his bodyguard, determined to protect him as he had her. It was a strange sort of friendship, but one that has proved beneficial for the both of them.

Whether she was Searched alongside her only friend or somehow bullied her way into following him there is currently still unknown, but she intends to continue her role as Hesendek’s protector no matter what the odds.

Pets: Her grandparents purchased a flit egg for her when she was younger as a trade off for her making the effort to learn to write. Though they had hopes that it would inspire her to become a scribe, it was a rather expensive failure. Fang the blue flit is her constant companion, frequently seen on her shoulder with his tail curled around her neck for balance.

Other/Talents: Despite her failure with the quill, Mo has a natural talent in sculpting. Ever since she was a child she frequently picked up bits of scrap wood from the carpenters and used them to fashion wood sculptures, generally of animals. Hesendek himself owns a set of dragon figurines carved by her.

Will this character be a candidate? Yes, if possible. I would understand if she was not smart enough to actually Impress, which would be okay. <3 She would just stand with Hesendek until he Impressed and then stay at the Weyr doing whatever work she could.
