Name: Lehpas (L’pas)

Age: 16

Sex: male

Craft: N/A

Rank: Candidate

Physical Description:
Lehpas has brown eyes and brown hair that falls to below his ears and down the nape of his neck. He stands about 5’ and has the usual lanky-ness of a growing teen. He's a bit on the soft side from working in the kitchens rather than out in the fields like other young men his age.

Personality:
Very friendly and trusting, he hasn’t encountered anything or anyone yet to have experienced the darker side of human nature.

He can be easily distracted when he's working on something that doesn’t interest him. This can be troublesome when it allows pots to boil over in the kitchen or errands to be uncompleted. He doesn't really have any hobbies. He just spends his free time daydreaming.

He’s a bit star struck regarding dragons. When there’s any close by, he just stands and stares at them in awe.

Contrary to other holder views that dragonriders are parasites, Lehpas views dragonriders as heros. He sees dragon riding as a dangerous feat done only by the very brave. From his teachings, he knows that Thread is a dangerous threat, but he figures if you’re brave enough to ride a dragon, fighting thread must be easy.

History:
His mother, Leyla, works in the hold as household help. Her status is mid range between drudge and headwoman. He’s the youngest of 5 siblings and the only male. His mother was always busy working, so he was pretty much raised by his sisters. When he tried to ask his mother about his father, she usually brushed him off saying she was too busy to talk. He did eventually learn his father’s name, Pasini, but not much else about him.

When he was old enough to start working in the fields, he seemed to always be getting hurt. He wasn’t clumsy, just kept having bad luck. His accidents didn’t leave him totally incapacitated, so he was put to work in the kitchen to watch pots to make sure they didn’t boil over and such, until he mended. Eventually he was kept in the kitchens to work instead of being sent back out into the fields.

When he was found on Search, his mother was glad of his opportunity and wished him well. His sisters cried because he was leaving, but they were excited that they could claim to have a dragonrider as a brother. It didn't matter that he hadn't impressed yet, they were sure that he would. He was speechless from the moment that he was picked to go to the Weyr. He could only respond with nods and shakes of his head. He was horrified to be riding a real dragon and fainted before they came out of between.
