It was the afternoon, and Bernard contemplated a nap. It would probably take some time for their train to go from Aekea, where they had boarded after a trip to a museum, all the way home to Durem. Ennea was already asleep, her head a light weight on Bernard's arm. But he knew sleep was an unwise idea.
The boys were at the window, jostling for viewing space. Zwei won most of the time, and pressed his nose to the glass, watching the sights as they whizzed by. It was getting late, and dark, but that meant more fun neon signs to watch.
After a few minutes, Teyr stopped trying to look out the window and instead looked at the inside of the train car. It was mostly empty, aside from them. He leaned forward- and then nearly fell off his seat, as the train slowed to a stop at another station.

"Dion!!!" Zach called down the station as the train came to a stop. Dion turned from the small stand of candy bars and newspapers to see Zach motioning for him to hurry. Zach should have known better then to let Dion buy a candy bar on his own. It took him thirty minutes to choose something! Zach motioned for him to hurry frantically as Dion snatched up a pack of bubble gum and paid quickly. By the time Dion ran to the train the doors were beginning to close. Zach had to hold them open for a moment so Dion could hop in.
"What did you get?" Zach asked. The two had spent the day buying some paint supplies for Zach and a baseball bat and mitt for Dion. Why they had decided to go so far out of Durem really was a mystery but they had. Either way, the two had enjoyed themselves even if Dion's curiosity had forced Zach to buy more then a couple extra items.
"Gum." Dion said, holding up the small pack that cost eighty cents. Zach knew Dion had left the change back at the station in his hurry to make the train. That was okay, it was only twenty cents. "Can I have some?" Zach asked as he moved down the train car. "Maybe." Dion said as he opened the pack and pulled out a stick for himself. He stared at the train car, having never been in one before Dion was fascinated by it. It was short lived though. Instead, something much more fascinating caught his eye along with Zach's. Two more children from the seven facility or so that's what Zach believed. One looked like a spawn but the other, well, Zach was pretty sure he was from the facility as well only he had never seen another child like him. He was very interesting and from the looks of it Dion really liked his tail...ugh body.
Zach placed his bags on an empty seat a short distance away from the children and sat down. "You know." He said as Dion watched them, chewing on his piece of gum. "They might like some gum." Zach said, nudging Dion in the side. Dion's tail flicked about slightly, causing the ring and crystals on his tail ring to chime softly. He looked to Zach for a moment. "You know, after I get a piece." Zach grinned at him and Dion rolled his eyes. He dropped a stick of gum into Zach's lap before walking away. Zach chuckled softly, unwrapping the piece of gum and popping it into his mouth silently.
Dion approached the two boys. He stood a little bit behind the two and between them, watching as one stared out the window and the other just sitting. Dion wasn't much for hellos, they were boring. "Gum?" He offered the one sitting in the chair.

Well, that certainly made the ride less boring. Teyr perked up as soon as more people boarded the train, watching them curiously. One of them had a really cool tail, which Teyr was tempted to comment on, but decided not to.
However, it seemed they would talk anyway. "For me?" Teyr asked, pointing to the gum. He was about to take it when he remembered the rules, and tugged on Bernard's sleeve. "Can I?"
"Huh?" Almost asleep, Bernard blinked and looked at the gum. "Oh. That's very kind of you, young man," he told Dion politely. "Yes, Teyr, you may."
Gleefully, Teyr took the gum and popped it into his mouth. "Thank you!" he said between chews. "Name? Am Teyr."

Dion nodded to the older man, not really caring too much for him but knowing that if he just completely ignored him Zach would lecture him. Dion got enough lectures as it was, he didn't need anymore. The boy named Teyr, or so the man had called him this, seemed very happy with the gum. "Welcome." Dion said, giving a small nonchalant shrug of his shoulders to show that he didn't mind sharing. He did mind sharing but if it got you talking to people he didn't care too much. "I'm Dion." Dion said to the brown haired boy. He stared at him, examining his eyes. Okay, Dion was officially jealous. Everyone he met either had three eyes, one eye or multi colored eye.
...Okay, maybe not everybody. But enough!
"Cool eyes." Dion said, still staring at him. He glanced down, noticing Teyr's hip wings and frowning. Okay, Dion was officially pissed. Not at Teyr, no no no. Teyr had nothing to do with it aside from having awesome eyes and awesome wings. Dion was pissed that his theory was true. Anyone with cool eyes had cool wings. So far that had been proven by three people, three!! Dion looked back up to Teyr, still frowning but it wasn't meant towards him. He decided to ask the million dollar question. The question that had burned in the back of his head ever since he met Tykier and Duncan.
"How do you get wings?" He asked him. He glanced over to the other boy who stood looking out the window. Well, could you call it standing? The boy didn't have feet so Dion wasn't sure. Oh well, he'd offer him gum in a little bit. Right now he needed to know the answer to his question.

Teyr continued chewing the gum happily. He was hungry, so this sated the crawling feeling in his stomach. And it was mint, his favorite! He was so intent on the taste that he nearly missed the compliment. Nearly. In his surprise, he swallowed the gum and blinked. "Really?" He'd never thought about his eyes. He knew they were different than Zwei's and Ennea's and Bernard's, but then again, so were lots of things.
When Dion asked about wings, Teyr started to turn red. He wasn't used to getting compliments, and it made him uncomfortable. Especially since he didn't really have an answer. "Not sure," he said. "Just have them."
Finally tiring of looking out the window, Zwei turned around, letting the rest of his tail coil underneath him. When had that kid showed up? And more importantly, "Who's that?"

Dion was disappointed that he didn't have an answer. Oh well, he'd ask someone else, maybe they'd no. If not then Dion would just drop it, or something along those lines. maybe he'd go to the facility and ask but Dion didn't like that place very much so he most likely wouldn't. "Lucky." Dion said in between chews.
Dion turned as someone spoke. It was the kid with the snake tail. "Dion." Dion responded to his question. "Nice...." He thought for a moment, staring at the boys tail. "Tail?" He asked more then said. Dion's rings turned softly around him, his tail flicked about again in boredom. He chewed his gum silently before blowing a bubble like Zach had taught him not too long ago. "Gum?" He offered to the other boy.
Dion noticed something about the boy. Aside from the tail, the boy had metal framing his face. It wasn't like Dion's rings, this boys metal seemed to be attached to his face. Dion walked closer, staring at it for a moment. Frowning some as he tried to figure out if it grew like Dion's rings did. He stopped though, still holding out the gum as he noticed something even more peculiar. "You're not wearing any clothe." Dion said, looking at the boys bare chest. Well that was new. Zach hated Dion going out without shoes, how was this boy allowed to go out without clothe at all?

"Sorry," Teyr quickly apologized. "Really sorry! Just... not sure." For all he knew, there was some special way he got wings, but if so, he'd forgotten it some time ago.
Then, since he knew that Zwei wouldn't intoduce himself, he poked him lightly on the arm. "Zwei," he intoduced. "Brother."
Zwei scowled briefly. How could he be a superhero if Teyr kept revealing his secret identity? But he was quickly over it and accepted the gum. "Thanks. Like yours better," he said. That tail probably didn't keep anyone from going up ladders.
At the mention of clothes, he actually hissed softly, but then grinned. "Don't like clothes." Zwei pointed at Bernard, who was nodding off again, and Ennea. "Don't try now. Won't wear clothes, ever!"
Clothes were, after all, highly overrated.

Dion had no idea why Teyr was apologizing so much. It annoyed him and made him frown slightly. "Don't worry." He said to him, shrugging his shoulders again. It had bothered him a little that Teyr hadn't had an answer but right now Dion just wanted him to stop apologizing. "I'll find out sooner or later." He said, standing a little to the side so he could have a view of both Zwei and Teyr. "When I find out I'll tell you." He said to Teyr with a nod of his head to show that he was serious. He'd have to keep track of Teyr so he'd be able to find him when he really did get an answer. He'd need a phone number and address of whatever those things were called. He'd ask Zach for a pen and paper later.
Dion listened to Teyr's introduction of his brother. Dion looked to him, noticing his scowl and scowling back out of habit. He stopped once he heard Zwei's compliment. Dion glanced down to his own tail. Like Zwei's it was long but it didn't replace his legs nor did it have a neat brown scale strips. Those were cool, much cooler then Dion's grey scales and ring combined. How the heck was Dion's tail cooler then Zwei's? "No way." He said, he had to disagree. "Your tail is your legs." He pointed out, a captain obvious moment. "Never seen anyone else with a tail for legs before." Dion pointed out. It was true but Dion didn't exactly count for much, he was only a child. And then, like that, something hit Dion. "How do you walk?" He asked, very curious of how someone without legs could move. Maybe if Zwei had wings he could fly but he didn't so Dion really had no idea how Zwei even got on the train. Did they live on the train?
As Zwei pointed to the sleeping man in the chair Dion had to hold back a smile. "Don't like shoes." Dion said, glancing down at the pair of scandals Zach had forced him to wear. Dion hated shoes. Hated them with a burning passion. It was much too hard to find a pair that was comfortable over his clawed toes. He always had to buy them a size larger and when he did they made him walk funny because they were too big. Dion hated shoes, hated looking at them and hated wearing them. Especially the ones with laces, ugh. Dion still couldn't tie a decent knot without doing bunny ears half a million times. Dion didn't want to think about shoes, they just made him angry.
"If you never wear clothe, you'll be naked forever." Dion said. Dion couldn't imagine leaving his house without clothe on but he guessed it was different for Zwei. Zwei didn't have legs so maybe that made it okay to go out naked? Did people without legs live in a world with a new set of rules? Dion decided that he'd like to trade his legs for a tail some time in the future.

Quite relieved that he wasn't letting Dion down, Teyr nodded. "Sorry," he said one more time, just for good measure. "Thank you." It would be interesting to learn the secret, and once he did, if anyone else asked, he would know.
It seemed that Dion still didn't see how his tail was superior. Zwei didn't always dislike his tail- usually only after it kept him from doing something. Like that day, at the museum, how he hadn't been able to look in the scale submarine because of yet another ladder. "Can't do some things," Zwei explained. "Climbing things." Then again, he supposed there were things he could do that people with legs couldn't, so maybe it evened out. As to Dion's question... "Don't walk," he tried to explain. "Just... move."
Looking down at Dion's bare feet, Zwei had to chuckle. "Don't need shoes," he stated somewhat obviously. "Don't want clothes. Naked is okay."
Teyr, who had never been allowed to go naked the way Zwei did, blinked at this. "Naked okay? For everyone?"
Zwei shrugged. What did it matter? "If you want?"

"Climbing things isn't always good." Dion pointed out. Climbing wasn't that bad, it was only when you stopped and looked at what you climbed. Dion didn't like heights, he didn't like them at all. He especially didn't like jungle gyms. Never again would he climb one of those evil things. Not even if someone promised him a pair of wings or a third eye. Never.
"Move?" Dion repeated, how could you just move? He stared at Zwei's tail in question, as if he was talking to it and not Zwei. It didn't last long though, Dion looked back at Zwei and Teyr with an expression that showed he had absolutely no idea what Zwei meant. Dion tilted his head to the side in question for a moment. What Teyr and Zwei said next really sparked Dion's interest. Naked was okay? For everyone? Zwei seemed to think so. Dion thought this over for a moment, he didn't mind clothe but Dion didn't think they were the coolest things ever either. "Okay." Dion said, pulling his shirt over his head and off.

No, climbing was not everything. But it was a lot of things. "Hard to get places," he tried to explain. It was not that he particularly enjoyed heights. He just hated feeling like he couldn't go places everyone else could because of a stupid ladder. As to the question of moving, he shrugged. He'd never asked anyone else how they walked, and to him it looked more difficult than what he did.
Similarly taken with the idea that being naked was okay, Teyr tried to pull his shirt off. The hem caught on one of his wings though, and he gave a sharp cry before managing to dislodge it. Off came the shirt, and Teyr looked around. He didn't see what the big deal was about clothes or no clothes. It didn't feel all that different, except maybe colder.
And here Zwei had to think. He didn't think that Teyr would actually do anything, or the other kid either. There was a rule about clothes, but it was one that Zwei had managed to find an exception for. But if he did, why couldn't they? That was fair, wasn't it?
Trying not to think about this, he just smirked. "Nice?"

Like Teyr, Dion didn't see how being naked was better. It felt the same aside from the breeze. Dion shrugged his shoulders. "Feels the same." He said as he began to unbutton his pants. Maybe it made a difference if he wasn't wearing any pants.
Zach, having been watching from afar, nearly choked on his gum as Dion begun unbuttoning his pants. He had found it amusing how Dion and the other boy had taken off their shirts. He didn't really think much of it though he should have. When Dion went for his pants though, Zach had to do something. He coughed roughly twice, dislodging the gum from his windpipe before hurrying over to Dion and the two other boys.
"Hold on their Captain Underpants. No need to go commando." Zach said, snatching Dion's hand away from his pants quickly. Dion frowned at him. "Zwei says naked is okay." Dion said to prove his point. "I'm sure it is, just not on the train." Zach said, buttoning Dion's pants back and trying to get his shirt back on. Dion, however, would have none of it and did everything he could to keep his shirt off.
Zach smiled at the two other boys as he managed to get Dion's head through the neck hole of the shirt. "Hello." He said with his smile. Just as he did so Dion managed to side step away from him and yank the shirt off, he flung it at Zach's head. "Naked. Is. Okay." Dion said, set on not wearing his shirt. "Tell him Zwei." Dion said, looking to Zwei with a frown though it wasn't meant for him. Zach took the shirt off his head with a sigh, at least Dion seemed to forget about taking off his pants...for now at least.

Almost at the same time, Teyr started to take his pants off as well. Zwei was all-the-way naked, so they had to be too, he assumed. Fortunately for him, Bernard and Ennea remained asleep, but it seemed that Dion's guardian was more aware. He did not put up a fuss, instead apologizing and starting to put his shirt back on. But wait- if this person was right and Zwei was also right, how was he in the wrong?
Zwei knew that trouble was coming. He had told them to break a rule, and that was bad. But it also wasn't fair that he was the only one that had an exception to the rule. Wearing clothes was simply not an option that occurred to him, so he made himself stand tall and face the adult. "Naked is okay," he repeated firmly. He would protect his judgment, or go down trying.

Zach smiled at the naga boy named Zwei. "Naked is okay, I agree." Zach said with a nod. "But but for boys with two legs." Zach said, tilting his head to the side and with that same smile though he had a matter-of-fact tone in his voice. "Now, get over here Dion!" Zach said, lunging for Dion and shoving his shirt over his head. "NO!!" Dion shouted as the shirt went over his head. He struggled against Zach again and broke free once more. He moved besides Teyr and stuck his tongue out at Zach.
Dion glanced to Teyr, noticing that he had begun to put his cloth back on and frowned. "No! Zach is lieing, naked is okay." Dion said to him as he grabbed the end of Teyr's shirt and pulled it up over his head and off him.

Unprepared for the sudden motion, Teyr jerked backwards as Dion pulled his shirt back off. His head smacked the back of the seat and he wobbled, dazed. Everything was spinning, and for a brief moment he forgot what he was doing.
Then he remembered, and looked at Zach, then at Zwei, and back again. Who was right? He wasn't used to being presented with two conflicting truths, and that made his head spin even more than the blow.
Frowning, some of Zwei's uncertainty dissipated. "Why does legs matter?" he asked crossly. "Should be the same for everyone. Fair. Should be naked if you want to be." It wasn't fair if it was just for him, but he was confident that making him wear clothes wasn't fair either.
