It has a sunny day in Katriana, so sunny that two teenagers had decided to ditch their friends in Motterossa for some mall-walking and flirting. Well, that's what Kory came for anyways. Zen had come to Katriana to stock up on ingredients, care products, and a few new sets of clothes. Sure, he was interested in girls, but none of the girls that slunk around in the malls interested him too much.
"Hey, Kory, I'm stopping in here for some teething toys, you coming?"
"Umm...no. I'm here for clothes, not your gay breeder stuff. I'll be in Wet Spheal."
Zen sighed, shaking his head at his friend. Why they were friends, he never really understood. Maybe it was because they could read each other.
"Well, okay then. But my job isn't 'gay' dude."
"Yeah, it is. Its girly crap and you know it."
"Shut up and go buy your faggy clothes Kory." Zen snapped, glaring at the raven-haired youth. He could be such a d**k at times.

Aurore had been slinking near the mall lately. God only knew why, when most of the stuff her dad ordered from a private company was better for pokemon than the generic stuff, but some of the little Weedle who'd come in a few days ago had already poked holes in their 'nest' area at her family daycare. She HAD to come and get another nest for them to sleep in, or they'd be keeping all the other little ones up all night, maybe even accidentally poisoning a few. That was her main concern.
The little dears were also getting ready to evolve though, and go into their dormant Kakuna stage, for which she also had to accomidate. So. A nest that was a hanging hive type fixture and had fake branches for the Weedle to climb out on and pupate into Kakuna and hang there pleasantly.
As she came upon the shop she was destined for, she overheard to boys talking. She harumped to herself kind of loudly, and purposefully hit her shoulder against the guy who'd said he was going to Wet Spheal. Whipping her head to him, she glared daggers. Nobody talked about breeders like that when she was around.
"Watch where you're going, pretty boy. At least being a breeder is honest, fulfilling work. There are quite a few male breeders that are famous for the breakthroughs in Poke-Care they've made, and my parents are BOTH breeders and poke-doctors. I hope you suffocate in those nasty, glittery, too-gaudy-to-even-be-contest-outfits you find at Wet Spheal. " she huffed, walking presently past them and taking out a small list of things she had to get besides the Weedle's nest. As she walked through the door and the bell rang, she waved to the cashier, a friend who'd seen her around here a lot in the past.
"Hey there Aurore. What can I do for ya today? S'odd to see you in here. Thought your family used higher quality things?" he asked, leaning on the counter and eager to help. She shook her head and laughed pleasantly, totally different from when talking to the prissy idol.
"One of those bug fanatics brought in a whole batch of Weedle and a Beautifly, and while the Beautifly is impecably behaved, the Weedle are little and aren't. I've been working with them though and they're almost ready to evolve into Kakuna's, so I need a hanging nest for them that has branch attachments. They poked holes in the last sling we had for them, and now they keep falling through the holes as they sleep." she chirpped, looking around and examining a nearby nest. There were only three in the store, so she didn't have to look that long, but it was still an important decision.

Did she really just talk to him like that? HIM? Did she even know who the hell she was talking to? She should be grovelling at his feet, begging for an autograph and telling him her fantasies about nights with him. Okay, scratch the last part.
"Excuse me? Do you even know who the hell I am? Or are you such a little hick that you don't even know about skateboarding? The name's Kory Lynch, skateboarding extraordinaire. And who are you? Or should I even care?"
He sneered at the last part, approaching the counter as he gave his little speech. Breeders and their stupid crap. Zen was the only breeder he'd ever met that he even remotely liked, and that was just because he knew about the skating culture. Plus he had a sweet pad to crash in.

Aurore just kept on smiling as she looked through the nests, totally ignoring the jerk that thought he was a hotshot. With a sigh as he made a sneering comment, and only because she didn't want the breeder slash cashier behind the counter to punch him out, she pointed out the nest she wanted and had the guy get it. Turning to look at this hotshot skateboarder, she frowned, crossing her arms. Raising an eyebrow, she pushed some of her black hair out of the way as her Buneary Clips in her hair swayed with movement.
"As a matter of fact, I do, Mr. Lynch. My older cousin, whom also happens to be a breeder and famous perfume chemist with his grass pokemon, not that you really care....happens to like skateboarding and has spoken of you. Forgive me if I don't bow down and lick your boots. I happen to like taking care of Pokemon and growing with them, not stroking my own ego like self-centered skate-heads." she quipped, still refusing to give him her name. She had no need to talk to filth like that. People like Kory didn't deserve pokemon, they really didn't. People who cared more about themselves than their partners. It was despicable.
Turning once again to go down the aisles she sighed. "Nooooow.....I need chew toys....the puppies are teething and we don't know what's going to pop out of those new eggs. No telling if they'll be calm or need something to play with...." she said more to herself than anyone as her nest was rung up at the counter, and looking at the dolls to cuddle with and the chew toys. Biting her lip, she glanced at the poke'food and shook her head. She'd rather spend an hour at home making her own blends to make the little baby pokemon grow up healthy. Looking over her shoulder, she had a vaugely suprised but incredibly bored look as she spotted Kory there.
"You still there? You sure this place isn't too beneath you? God forbid a reporter come and see you around. Oh. That's right, they wouldn't. The one's around here are only interested in REAL Trainers, not primadonnas. Hey Eric? Do you know if this chewtoy tears easy? The Poochyena and Growlithe like playing tug-o-war." she said, changing her focus totally midway and asking the clerk a question. He leaned over to look and shook his head.
"Nah, that one's pretty sturdy. They can pull at it all day and it won't rip. It'll take em at least a month to chew a hole through." he responded, to which she smiled and picked up the toy, along with a few cuddly dolls for pokemon to snuggle and nap with. Walking up to the counter, she placed them on it and went to get a carton of MooMoo Milk in the back for the cats of the daycare, and got the 'Extra Vitamins' brand for Queen and Kingsley. Papa said Queen was just now pregnant, and she needed the extra vitamins.

Now he was really pissed. Some backwoods country breeder just insulted him, and that just wasn't cool. He rolled up his sleeves, clenched his fists and began walking towards the girl, making all the chains on his pants jingle and clank together, giving away that he was about ready to punch this breeder in the face. Kory had a temper, and a really short fuse. No one was supposed to talk to an idol like that, not even a backwards country girl.
Zen, still in the background and avoiding confrontation, noted that it was about time to step in and break this up. He didn't want blood spilled all over the floor, that would give the shop a bad reputation. And this was his favorite breeding shop. He gave a slight nod to the cashier, put his list down, and quickly grabbed his skatepunk friend on the shoulder.
"Listen bro, don't even try it. I think I may recognize her from a magazine or something. Just go into Wet Spheal and calm yourself. I don't want your reputation ruined, kay? Because if it is, I lose by biggest research sponsor, your company. So go and find something you like, ang leave this place alone, kay?
"Psh, whatever, you freakin' nerd. Come and get me when you two losers are done making out and talking about your gay breeding crap." The raven haired skater stormed out, flipping his highlighted hair out of his eyes as he went into the store across the way from the breeding shop.
The blue haired Breeder saw that his friend was gone and took his chance to apologize. "Listen, I'm really sorry about him, he's just...him. The name's Zen Horo by the way, son of John Horo. Maybe you've heard of my family?"

Aurore smiled at the breeder named Zen, and held out her hand. She'd heard of the Horo family. Her father knew some of them personally. With a small giggle, she shook her head, dismissing the apollogy without batting an eye.
"Don't sweat it. It just really riles me up when people don't give breeders the respect they deserve. He's definately.....interesting. Not nearly as cool as my cousin keeps telling me he is.....I'm Aurore Langford. We just recently came here to extend our family's reach to this region from Sinnoh. So! What kind of pokemon are you breeding, or taking care of right now? Would you mind me looking at them? I don't have any of my own yet, but Mama says I'm already a good judge on pokemon!" she chirruped. She was so proud of Mama's contest carreer. Her cousins' lucrative buisness was goind well, and her Papa's clinic was doing extrodinary. She couldn't say that the move to Zatao wasn't TOTALLY good, but she did miss Sinnoh.
But, that just meant a whole new batch of pokemon for her to look at and enjoy.

Well, Zen observed, she was definitely quick to forgive. With a laugh as well, he shook her hand, glad to have gotten off on good terms. So she was a Langford, hm? He'd heard of them, read about them in magazines a few times. He never bought any of their perfumes though, or their colognes for that matter. But his father had always told him to respect Langfords, since they brought up Pokemon meant for royalty.
But his father was a douche...
"Well, to be honest, I'm not breeding a set Pokemon right now, I haven't quite gained two of the same Pokemon yet. But I suppose you could say I've been dabbling in the more Canine field of Pokemon." Zen told her, bringing four Pokeballs off his belt and releasing the four Pokemon inside them. Armageddon, Koori, Axel, and Dreamcatcher. Armageddon was his prized Absol, Koori was his Glaceon Daughter. Axel was his recently evolved Cerberex, as well as Koori's mate. Dreamcatcher, his Furret, was the odd one out of the group.
"This is my team. I've really been involved in a project dealing with Armageddon here. I'm trying to find out just what the genetic coding and the correct environment is to produce what I call the black gene." He patted the Absol on the head.
"And you?"

Aurore gasped and couldn't contain her excitement for the canine type pokemon. She stroked each of them on the head in turn, and ruffled the Furret, Dreamcatcher, all up and down its sides to make it happy. She giggled as she appraised them all. They were all beautiful pokemon. It was obvious they had a lot of love put into them. She pet the Glaceon, Koori, next, paying special attention to rub her fingers at the points of her hanging flaps gently, knowing it was a happy spot for many Glaceon. Looking up she smiled.
"Sorry, I wasn't specific, was I? I didn't mean a set or anything. Just what pokemon you were raising right now. Your Glaceon is beautiful....her coat shines so brilliantly its like she's one beautiful piece of carved ice. I've never seen a Cerberex so close either! And he's soooo well-behaved. Have you had him since he was a Houndour? And your Absol as wonderful coloring. Very strong features, good for passing down to pups. Your Furret seems incredibly playful too." she giggled, as said Dreamcatcher weaved around her begging to be played with. She knelt down to do so, and hugged the pokemon, paying attention when he mentioned a 'black gene'.
"Black Gene? That's an interesting theory....I've never heard of it before, actually. I dont have a team of my own yet....I wish I did, but for now, I'm content to take care of the pokemon coming through our Daycare. Mama's got a contest coming up and Papa's had an overflow of patients when Miss Joy is too busy. Hopefully I'll be getting a Meowth soon though, Papa says our Kingsley and Queen have got a litter on the way. I have to admit, I have a soft spot for canines though...." she cooed, fawning over all of them and stroking their fur happily. Looking up, she smiled again, even more excited than before.
"Why don't you stop by the Daycare? I have to go back soon anyways, and besides, I can at least treat these lovelies to a good meal. I make all my own poke'food so if you know thier taste prefrences you should tell me before I give them their breed standard mix. Maybe we could talk about that gene of yours? It sounds very interesting." she remarked, handing out a friendly invitation to the other breeder.

Zen set his hands in his pockets, relaxed and glad that his Pokemon had taken such a liking to this breeder. She was definitely a good breeder, he could tell. She knew what made the Pokemon happy, knew just how to treat them, and knew all about them at a glance. The Langfords so far had lived up to their reputation.
"Oh, it's fine. I'm not exactly great when it comes to telling just what people are saying." He grinned sheepishly then, rubbing the back of his head ruefully. "But thank you, I try to raise them the best I can. Every one of them is special to me, and they all are some of my best friends." Zen knelt down beside Aurore, scratching Dreamcatcher behind the ears while doing so.
"Yes, I have had Axel since he was a pup. Someone just left him on my door one day, completely unexpected, but welcome. He's calmed down though, he was one little bugger of a Houndour." Zen laughed at that and stroked the Cerberex along the skull.
"Ah, yes, my black gene theory. I've been working on it for a year now, ever since Armageddon didn't produce black offspring. I suppose it was to be expected though, as his mate is a standard colored Espeon. But I'll elaborate at your house, yeah?" He smiled, standing back up and dusting his pants off out of habit.
"Oh, you make your own food as well? I keep a bit of their food in my pack at all times, but I'd be glad for them to try some new things. And perhaps your father could help me with my theory...

Aurore nodded, standing up gracefully as well and dusting off her jacket/skirt just in case. Well, she saw Zen doing it so thought maybe the floor was dirty? She didn't even realize that she'd been sized up herself, and had passed some test in his head at least a little bit, but it wouldn't have bothered her if she had. She giggled and scratched the Cerberx behind his ears as his changed behavior was spoken of, listening intently when he described Armageddon's pair breeding results. She nodded. Espeons, and the Eevee family in general, had incredibly strong bloodlines. If you had a standard, you were getting a standard, unless you had just the right pokemon genes to overpower them.
She nodded, smiling at the clerk and collecting her things. The nest was a bit awkward to carry, even collapsed down for traveling, but she didn't mind. Paying quickly, she walked out the store, patting her leg so Dreamcatcher would follow. Digging into her pockets, she brought out a snippet of sweet and nutty Sentret food. She normally dealt with unevolved pokemon, save for the bug types everyone seemed to bring in for extra training away from the field. But, Furrets and Sentrets were the same thing, so she figured maybe Dream would like some? Waving it down by her side, she waited for both the Furret and its owner to follow.
"Papa would be glad to help, I'm sure. You'll have to watch your step though, we have a lot of newborns running around, and some young pokemon that were left in our care by their trainers. Oh! And by all means, keep Axel AWAY from the baby Squirtle. He's a bit rowdy and fussy since his trainer isn't around, she went all the way to Johto if you can beleive it, and he gets a bit Water Gun happy. It probably wouldn't hurt Axel much, but it'd be more annoying for him than anything. And don't be suprised if some of the Eevee crowd around poor Koori. They think any older female in the family is their mother, even though they were eggs given to us by another foreign daycare to give to trainers on their respective journeys." she informed, pointing out the small annoyances and mild dangers of the Daycare. Always had to keep certain little ones away from eachother. The Chimchar they had DEFINATELY did not like that Squirtle, that was for sure.

Zen smiled as Dreamcatcher was quick to follow Aurore, glad to see that Dream had warmed up to someone other than him. She loved Abiba and Zen, but was shy around a lot of other people and Pokemon. He never was able to figure out just why. He wondered what she thought of all his ramblings and such, but he hoped that she would tell him later on at her daycare. And speaking of Daycares, he'd have to check this one out, see if it was up to standard, and see if there was anything he might need.
The clerk had kindly picked all of Zen's things up while he was busy talking to Aurore. That was a reason why he loved this place, the help was so great. He gave him what he owed, and an extra for getting his things. Zen quickly caught up to Aurore, following her stride quite easily.
"So, what do you say we leave Kory to shop for clothes? After all, he said to tell him when we were done talking about breeder stuff. And I'm sure he wouldn't even be interested in any of the things we'll be talking about, hm?" He said kindly, allowing his Pokemon to follow behind them, since even they needed fresh air. "And I'll make note of that. Say, where is your Daycare anyway? I run one of my own, up in the Rinual mountains, just a bit away from the city up there."

Aurore turned her head to listen to Zen as they walked, and was pleasantly suprised to find he had a Daycare of his own. She nodded with a smile, glad to leave the self-centered jerk to his clothes shopping. Again, she hoped he choked on it. She looked down at Dream and smiled at the Furret's shy enthusiasm. It was obvious she was nervous around other pokemon they passed as they walked, outside of the team she was with and Zen. It made Aurore feel good as a breeder to know she could befriend shy pokemon so quickly. She must be doing something right, hm?
"Papa's Clinic is in town, but our Daycare is right on the outskirts of town. Where we can have a lot of land for pokemon to run around. Sometimes we get big pokemon and we have to keep them in an enclosure out back too. We also have a full stable for horse and cattle types. I would normally get some MooMoo Milk from our Miltanks, but one's sick and the other is watching her own eggs. Neither of em will give milk right now, so I had to go out and get some for Queen. And I am MORE than happy to leave your friend behind. He'd only get in the way and make the newborns nervous. They need happy vibes from their caretakers," she nodded, leading them towards the exit of the mall. Scratching between Dream's ears absentmindedly, she took a breath to continue.
"The Rinual Mountains, huh? Wouldn't it be tricky to keep them warm during the fall and winter months? Some pokemon just can't take cold tempratures. I know that my cousin would HATE taking his beauties up there during those seasons. They might wilt, the poor things, and their sweet sents would fade away until next season," she nodded, not really critiqing his Daycare as much as just being interested.

Zen noted how quickly Dream had attached herself to Aurore. And Aurore had no Pokemon she had said. He bit his lower lip in thought, pondering. It seemed like the best choice, for both parties involved. He loved Dream to death, but Aurore just seemed so much more capable of handling the little Furret. It would be hard for him to let go, but he would have to deal with it. He was sure that the Langfords would have proper accommodations for her.
He suddenly came back to the real world when she started talking about his Daycare center. "Actually, it's easier than you might think. My family, the Horos, actually have the main breeding station slash research lab in Snowpoint. It seems like it would be incredibly hard, but we've actually found that the temperatures do the Pokemon good, and in the mountains, Pokemon aren't exposed to a lot of pollution. Plus, my common room is big enough for Pokemon to nestle next to a fire in a blanket." He added that last bit, a bit offended that Aurore would even suggest that he wouldn't be able to keep Pokemon warm. But he had to remember that most didn't see the logical sense of being based in the mountains.
"So, did you drive here or did you walk?"

Aurore frowned as she heard the soft snap in Zen's voice as he mentioned the Daycare. She hadn't meant to offend him, she'd just been curious. She was used to the vast researching plains and warm tempratures of Sinnoh, and to hear of Snowpoint city's facilities, it peaked her interest. She hoped she could patch up this minor offense though. She did want to be friends with Zen, she found, much to her suprise. His project seemed interesting, and his breeding style would be vastly different from hers because they were used to two totally different tempratures and environments. Biting her lip, she pointed to a car that was really more of a van type deal. It was big enough to carry a Rapidash or a Tauros or two. Had to transport them that way to Nurse Joy when a major procedure needed to be done. There'd be room for all the pokemon in there to sit and nest a little until they got home.
"I....didn't mean anything by it, Zen, I hope you know that. I'm really interested actually. I've never been in the mountains myself, so I don't know what they're like or what adjustments you need to make for pokemon there. I'm not big into battling gym leaders though I know Papa does from time to time to give the pokemon a workout but....I am sorry if I said something wrong. I can see how the minimum pollution would be good though, especially for the flyers. It always makes me sad when we used to visit Saffron City to see one of my uncles, how you couldn't hardly let your flying type pokemon out because of the smog in the air. It wasn't horrible, but it was enough that it made them dizzy after a while." she conversed, opening the sliding door for the pokemon to get in and unlocking the doors with the keys in her pocket. Setting her purchases in the back nestled in the corner so as not to cramp any of the larger pokemon like Axel, she smiled and held her hands in her lap as she waited for the rest of the group to unload there.
"It's not far, really. Just a few minutes. We're one of the last houses though because of land space. Ummm.....forgive me for being a bit....um....rabid fan about it but.....ah....did you ever...." she started, getting nervous and giggly at the prospect of one of her heros knowing someone she now knew. "Did you ever get to work with Professor Rowan!?" she blurted out, turning a bright pink and laughing at herself after she said it. She knew Professor Elm since Papa had worked with him once in the study of pokemon eggs. They still exchanged phone calls and research actually, and sometimes Aurore chimed in her newest findings with the little ones and their bred moves and characteristics.....but she'd never met the famous Professor Rowan.

Zen saw that his little snap had hit a bit too hard on Aurore. He hadn't meant to hurt her feelings at all. Sometimes hanging around Kory could make you defensive of what you thought of as precious, especially when it came to breeding. But he put his arm on her shoulder, smiling. "I'm sorry about that, I just get a bit defensive. I forget that a lot of people don't see things the way I do. So no need to worry, I'm not offended." He told her pleasantly, getting the Pokemon in the back of the van. He made sure they were all comfy and closed the door to the back.
"I...can't say I've ever been to Saffron City before. I grew up in Snowpoint with my parents, and Solaceon for a short while with my grandparents. But I do know what you mean. I've seen a few Pokemon who got sick from pollution, thus why they were taken to Snowpoint. It's quite a lovely place actually." He missed the place, yes, but he didn't miss his family, the jerks. They never really cared about the Pokemon...just the looks. He hated those kinds of breeders.
"Professor Rowan? I can't say I have, but he has talked to my father one or twice over the phone. I'd actually like to talk to him myself to be honest. Do you think I could talk to him?"
