Hello there. Now that I've finished reserving a million spots for random agents that I don't know the names of... and other obscure characters that I feel like identifying... maybe including exclusively movie characters too... I'm going to start out with the comic and then maybe compare contrast... I dunno we'll see how it shapes up. Bear with me. biggrin

For those of you who don't know, B.P.R.D. stands for the Beaurau of Paranormal Research and Defense.

Note: I was unable to find any concrete references so all of this is coming straight out of my brain and memory, which has proven in the past to be somewhat less than reliable. If you find something untrue, OR would like to add something, please let me know and I'll kindly apologize and change said information. However, I believe all this to be true and accurate to the best of my ability with absolutely no references whatsoever. biggrin Thank you. heart

Hellboy:

exclaim Intellect: average
Hellboy isn't super intelligent. He mostly relies on Abe Sapien for all of his intelligence and information that he needs in order to adequately beat his opponents. Hellboy relies much more on instinct and brute strength to beat his opponents. At the same time, Hellboy IS proficiently intelligent to the point where he seems like your average big red john doe with horns poking out of his head. Hellboy knows what he needs to figure out what is going on, and to beat any creature opposing him. For the most part.

exclaim Strength: Super "human"
Because Hellboy isn't really human anyway, his strength is comparable to a demon of sorts. I for one have never seen Hellboy NOT able to lift or smash something because he was just not strong enough. Add to that fact that his right hand of Doom is virtually indestructable and the muscle on the arm behind it is well-defined to say the least. smile All he really has to do is put a lot of force behind that hand with his super "human" strength, and you get a pretty hard blow. The only instance in which I can remember him being adequately held back... or contained... is in the movie when he is being held in the stocks with his true name "Anung un Rama" inscribed on it. It was said "the power of his true name" was what held him there.

exclaim Agility: Proficient
Hellboy's agility is not his finest skill, but he is proficiently agile. He can dodge things the same way anyone with fighting experience would have to. But he is rather large and cumbersome... although he has very springy legs... biggrin

exclaim Durability: Insane
Hellboy has the inner strength of a... well a demon I suppose. Cuts, bruises, even paralyzed limbs won't stop him from perservering. Hellboy isn't impervious to being knocked out or anything like that, but he invariably will come back and keep fighting. He also has that uncanny, but very useful ability where, if you get him really really mad, he generally gets stronger.

exclaim Endurance: Higher than average
I've never seen Hellboy get tired. Usually in the comics his job is a one-day event and he never whines about aches and pains or anything. In the movie, Hellboy battles nearly constantly and never seems to tire as well. So. I suppose he has higher than average endurance.

exclaim Combat Skills: He beats things. biggrin
Hellboy knows no special martial arts or special moves. I have never witnessed Hellboy delivering a kick to the face. That's not Hellboy's style. However. The term "combat skills" is relatively vague. Hellboy HAS combat skills, as in he can beat just about any monster you throw at him because he knows what he needs to do to beat them and he has the durability and enduracne and strength to finish the job where a normal human couldn't.

exclaim Powers/Skills/Weapons: Hellboy draws on the power of his nature as a creature of Hell. He carries a utility belt with little charms and things that help to protect him against supernatural baddies. For example, an iron horseshoe which he uses in The Corpse to detect a fake baby (which was actually a daoine sidh [or gremlin/fairy of sorts], and iron burns them. Go figure). He also carries a vial of holy water, a crucifix, a knuckle bone from a saint... that sort of thing. He also has workmanship skills. He forges his own "special bullets" which are silver tipped, and contain wood, iron filings, garlic, and holy water. He's also fireproof, insanely strong, has a virtually indestructable Right Hand of Doom, an uncanny ability to remain calm even in the most dire of situations, and a fantastically entertaining dry sense of humour.
