With the warming of the water and the air that came along with it, the pride was noticing the introduction of new cubs. Zarin was thrilled to learn that his mentor, Sevati, was expecting her second litter of cubs. The corners of his muzzle turned upward as he gazed forward into the sea. The idea of playing with all the cubs was an exciting prospect.
The soft cawing of the gulls above and the lapping of the waves was all great to him. This was a good time for the pride, with all these new members coming in, it meant that things were going well. And with that in mind, he wanted to see if there was anyone around he could meet.

Such a strange scent had brought her this way, somewhere where she had never been to before or heard of before for that matter, or perhaps she had and she hadn't been able to remember. She held her breath for a moment, feeling the change under her paws as she stepped onto a golden open vast place beyond her form. Water, open water with sand moving beneath her paws in a manner she had not remembered, but wished she had known Such a different feeling, the hot and cold of the shifting earth beneath her, and she smiled.
She was rain and water thus, felt a pull from this place.
Stepping out onto a stretch of beach she noticed the soft rounded pebbles strewn before her, a tiny strange creature walking sideways and she stopped, crouched down and got close and pulled away as it snapped its little arms at her nose. Sneezing, she sat up, cool slate again gold, and she peered around, felt at peace, but was alone.
"What is this place?" she asked aloud before moving again, walking down the golden earth beneath her. The sand was soft on her paws, for which she was grateful, she had been walking for quite some time now, though the salty stench in the air made her laugh as she felt like she could taste the sea.

Zarin With the gentle, ocean breeze Zarin heard the question faintly as this brought him to attention. His ears pricked forward curiously for the source, was there another lion around. He walked forward quietly, his paws sinking ever so slightly into the wet sand as the cool water lapped over his paws.
There. Off in the distance was a figure, distinct in coloring from the surrounding. A lioness...one not of this pride, he gathered because he had not seen her before. In her direction, he called out, "This is the ocean. Have you never seen it before?" Arin Arin walked and stopped when she heard a voice call to her, it shocked her, but she did not flinch, the voice was not harsh or scowling, but calm, just like hte waves before her eyes. Turning she saw him, creamy and calm, soothing like hte warmth of the sun, and she smiled and shook her head. "No, though I've heard stories, but I've never...seen it before, stories to not do it justice, this beauty cannot be captured in words alone," she said as she glanced out the the waves again, feeling the water touch her toes and foam. She looked back to him, and walked closer, he lived here, no doubt, for he seemed to be calm and knowing around the water, and did not seem shocked by it, "You live here then? You have a beautiful home," she said aloud, turning to face him again, smiling. He was larger in comparison to her, but she also knew she was small for her age, "I am Arin, I hope I have not stepped on any boundaries where I am unwelcome, I do not mean to impose or intrude," she said softly, hoping she had not broken some rule within the pride that resided here. Zarin At her words, the cream male couldn't help but feel the corners of his muzzle turn upward. It was always a nice sight to see the expressions that go across other's faces when they see the ocean for the first time. It is usually a look of awe and fascination. His tail flicked slightly as he shook his head,
"While you are on our lands, the Bahari'mtoto is a peaceful pride so long as don't bring any troubles with you. We have cubs in our midst, therefore wish for no trouble to befall on them. We are open to everyone that comes out way, and it seems that in the past few moons we've attracted quite a few newcomers." He tilted his head slightly, "It is a pleasure to meet you Arin, my name is Zarin." Arin Peaceful crossed her ears immendiately as she heard him speak, but cubs, the mentioning of cubs made a smile cross the entirety of her maw, "Cubs? Oh, I'd never bring any trouble with me especially toards any cubs of any age. I'm sure they like to play by the water's edge, don't they?" she asked with a soft laugh, she knew she would want to as well, and also chase that tiny creature that walked sideways. With the mtnion of his naem, she coudln't help but smile and laugh, "It seems for anyone to meet, fate has chosen well for us both, don't you think?" they had the name name, almost, but it was close enough to make her wonder. "Zarin, what are those things that walk sideways? I've never seen one before," she asked pointing towards a little crab before her eyes, "Such silly creatures, they should walk forwards like us," she looked to him again, a pride here, no wonder they chose such a spot, she wondered too if the creamy color of his pelt might be characteristic of the pride. "No wonder others venture here, if I had known, I would have come sooner." Zarin As she spoke about cubs, Zarin could picture their little pawpads splashing in the incoming waves. "Of course! They always try to see how far they can in the water before we call them back. I remember when my mentor's first litter was old enough to play out in the shore, they loved the water. Some of them even played in the sand!" He spoke with such enthusiasm, cubs were so full of playful innocence, they were the pride's future afterall.
It seems he wasn't the only one thinking how their names were very similar, "I'd have to say it's a first for me, but whatever the fates deem, I am happy."
But then her latter question about the crab caught his attention. Not at all in a condescending way, he chuckled, "That's a crab. They're tricky little creatures, but ones you have to be careful about. You see how they have two arms in from, but one claw is twice the size of the other? That is the reason why they don't walk straight like us. Plus, if you want to run away from a predator, running straight is not always the best option."
With a gentle smile, his gaze flickered from the lioness to the ocean for a brief moment, "I've always lived around water, but where I am from, the water was not as vast or as salty as it is here. It takes some getting used to for the newcomers, but there's no place where the sunrises or the sunsets are as beautiful!" Arin "I can imagine, the colors and the sky set aflame must reflect so sharply in the water, and make it glow," she said in awe again. The crab, seemed alright, though she would have to remember the little pinchers for next time, the one from before nearly got her nose, adn that would have ached for a short while, thank goodness they weren't any larger than they seemed. "Water is calming, in any form, though can be ruthless as well, my...grandfather, I believe, was from a pride that loved water, the mists and the rains, my name means rain," she said matter of factly with a smile on her lips. "I am born connected to water I suppose." "I am sure my mother would enjoy this sight," se said looking again at the lapping waves on the shore, and she stepped into the water, felt the coolness run against her stomach, and she laughed and lifted a paw as a wave crashed onto a rock beside her, mist in the air and her eyes looked to Zarin, "Its so playful, the water here, even if it does have a strange scent," she looked at him again, tilted her head slightly, and turned to face him and not the ocean, "SO stern," she said puffing up her chest in a vain attempt to look larger like him, and to make him laugh, "but I know your a gentle giant, you can;t fool the rain..." Zarin At her mention of her grandfather, Zarin stayed quiet for a moment. Mist and rain, why did that sound familiar? And then it hit him, he knew why it sounded to familiar to him. His old homeland, the Umande'mfuni. He muttered softly under his breath, "What a small world we live in." Before he turned to look at back at her.
"I know of the place you speak of, the Umande'mfuni. That was my old pridelands. To think that I'd run into someone else connected to it all the way out here is very interesting." But he didn't want to think of any more memories from that place, as most of them were not pleasant in the very least, and to think that it was all caused by Arin's grandfather, he didn't want to offend her. Plus, it was not her fault, even if they were related. That was the past and this is the present.
Arin's form in the water broke him from his reverie as he laughed, "Don't get the waves started, you could play all day in the water and never tire of it." He knew from past experience, playing in the water was one of his favorite things to do.
At her attempt to look bigger he shook his mane, "I couldn't harm anything, even if I wanted to. I don't have it in me, which is why I am a nanny to the pride and not a guard or hunter." Arin "Thats the pride he was from!" she said with a smile, but at his warning, she stuck her tongue out playfully and strode within the water, "I don't think I could tire of playing with the waves," another wave touched her side, and she laughed, "See? They are so frienly with me to begin with," she watched him, hopped in the water towards him, an smiled. Her pelt was slightly damp, but she didn't mind, and her eyes sparkled with anticipation and happiness. "A nanny? That sounds so wonderful, they like to play a lot yes? You must love it, seeing the little paws run before you and then grow, like a small family of your own, I envy you Zarin, you have such a wonderful importance here nad such a wonderful home," she said with a nod, stepping closer to him, she watched him, looked at his eyes and smiled, "Everything here is so new and different, but I don't want to turn away from it...not now..." she said softly watching him, his eyes were so enticing, almost like the ocean, and she smiled. Zarin As she was in the water, Zarin just shook his head playfully, "Just you wait. The waves will eat those words right up." But her comment of the waves being friendly, perhaps it was a good sign then, one he should take into consideration. There were many things that the ocean gave to the pride, and its signs were to be respected.
"Now that you mention it, the current hasn't been as rough today as other days. Perhaps it knew that you were coming?" He teased her lightly with a flick of his tail.
"It is, I love my job very much. I get all teary eyed when I see them grow up, because they are like my cubs too. I can't even begin to imagine what it'd be like if they were my own cubs." He thought about it on occassion, but thinking and actually experiencing that was totally different. As much as any father thought he was prepared, there were things that always caught them by surprise.
"I am very happy with my home here, and it's nice to see new faces all the time. I know there was a large group of lions that just came here to join the pride. If the ocean calls out to you so, why deny it?" Arin "If they were your cubs you would feel a pull to them, and a pulling from you as they grow, sometimes I wonder how hard it would be for me too," she said softly, standing beside him, letting her tail touch his slightly, "Watching them grow is hard, but also lovely I am sure, and you, to them, you mean a lot to them as almost another member of their family, and that is wonderful in its own way too," she said with a nod, and she watched him and looked to the waves again. "I wonder if they called me for a reason, and knew that I was looking and pulled me here," ther ain afterall, did make the ocean strong, perhaps it meant something, perhaps somehting she could not grasp. "Zarin, if I wanted to stay, would I be able to, would I be able to stop my wandering and search for a home here?" or would they not let her, she feared they would not, but if they were as calm and kind as Zarin, she was hopeful. Zarin His gaze lingered on her, his full attention was on her as she spoke. "There's always a spark in the eye when a parent talks about their cubs. I can see it all the time when my mentor, Sevati, talks about her litter. She tells me there are no words to describe the connection you feel to your own cubs and I can scarcely imagine that. But when the time comes, it will be a nice thing to have." When the fates decided that it was time for him to become a father, he would be happy...but until that time, he looked forward to spending all his time with the cubs of the pride.
With a firm nod, "Of course. Our pride is very welcoming so long as you pose no harm. And to see that you made it all the way to the shore just proves it," He paused to look at her in the eyes, "You have nothing to worry about, our leader Tamu, is very fair and so long as you come here with with good intentions you have nothing to fear. And besides, I believe that if you feel a connection to this place stronger than anything else, then you should go with that feeling, Arin. I searched for a home most of my life before I can here." Arin She smiled at him, and from his kind words and obvious attachement to htoe he watched after and watched grow, he would have one day a family that he would be proud of and could play with everyday. She smiled, and ficked her tail hearing about teh leader, the lands, and she nodded, "When could I seek Tamu out?" she wondered, and hoped he would know. She was anxious, and wanted to know more nad know of the possibility of staying here, it made her excited, and made her feel like she could feel whole. Zarin He pondered on the question briefly before he answered, "Tamu's not hard to miss. Her dark blue form is just about everywhere. She does a whole lot with the pride, so I'm sure any time is a good time to seek her out. And I'm sure the sooner, the better I'd say." He turned his head slightly and motioned to a larger rock formation not too far off from where they were. "You see those rocks? That's where she usually is or around, since that is where she does most of the pridal work. If you want to look for her, your best bet would be right around there."
He had no doubts that she would be fine. She posed no thread to the pride, and she could bring plenty to the pride if she did decide to join. Which, he secretly hoped so, it would be nice to have more friends around to talk to.

Arin nodded, took a few steps and looked before her, "Then I will seek her out, and be able to see more of this place," it was so beautiful and different from what she had known. She smiled looked to Zarin, and her eyes gleamed, "I will go search for her, but I would love to see more of this place, if I could back to this part of the beach, would you show me more here?" she questioned, eager, hoping he would say yes.
"I would search on my own, but others might not know I search for a home here, and I would rather bring no ill intentions upon myself here, and you...would know here everything is, and be able to show me the beauty here, would you, Zarin, please?" she asked again, hopeful.

At her request, there was no way that Zarin couldn't say no. He nodded slightly, "But of course. I would be more than happy to show you some of the best spots around here. That way, you can feel more comfortable here at the shore and get used to everything. It is a different change from everything, but every day there is always something new here."
His gaze shifted from Arin to their surrounding area. There was so much that he could show her, but they had all the time in the world if she planned on staying here. As his gaze settled back on Arin he smiled softly, "If you're ready, I can take you around to a few of the nice spots before the sun sets, if you'd like Arin?" He waited for her to be ready before he turned and set off in the direction of the pride to show her around.
