I come from a long line of tarot readers and I think it's a wonderful skill to have. Yes, there are different decks for different readings and not all readings utilize the same number of cards. My powers are totally different... 4laugh

Huh, I've never needed more than one deck. I can see why it might be nice to have more than one deck (with different 'flavors' or such), but why would it be necessary to have certain decks for certain types of readings? whee

It is good to have more than one deck in my opinion because different decks (and if you know more about this PLEASE correct me if I am wrong) are structured differently, I have two decks one for normal reading because you can conciously define questions. The other deck I have has no definite stucture and you have to use your intuition more than what the card means (meaning how it realates to the others and the signifigance of reverses) so I use that one for dreams.

Honestly, I *don't* know more about this. But it sounds right, you would use the unstructured deck when you had a question that you wanted answered in an intuitive manner. (I See!! burning_eyes more, I Understand!!) I've seen a few unstructured decks around (as well as an H.P. Lovecraft one I have my eyes on... smile ), and now I'll probably look at them with a more interested eye (we would be talking about the ones that are just pictures, lacking suits or names, right?). Though I imagine they would be tough to work with. I mean, with a thousand possibilities for interpretation, I'd be constantly second-guessing myself.

It's okay when I got my first unstuctured deck I honestly freaked out cause I didn't know whether to go on and just do it the way I have done with my first but then I actually read the little book that comes with it and it helped me alot, so heres my advice, see how the cards interact with each other and read the little book that comes with the cards.

So...what kind of decks do you all have? I own a deck called Druid-Craft, which is meant to be some sort of mix between the two (Wicca and Druidism). So the Devil card is named Cerununnos, and there are some other minor changes. The booklet springs a lot of references to Wicca and Celtic myth. I don't mind, as the artwork is gorgeous. Here is the Aeclectic Tarot listing.

I haven't heard of the Mystic Dreamer deck, (is this it?) but it's beautiful... When you say Toth deck, do you mean the Thoth deck? (by Aleister Crowley?) I'm very much waiting for the Watcher Angel Tarot to come out, then perhaps I'll splurge...(there are so many beautiful decks... 3nodding )

I have a deck but it's more like a small kit of using tarot cards and interpreting what you have drawn from the deck.

Ichiruo What would you su-jes for a newbie? start off with three cards one for the past one for the present and the last one for the future. And if there is a book that comes with the deck then read it, it tells you what the cards mean and trust me, it will make your life alot easier.
