VineSweeper Minigame Guide


*Member only mini game, sorry*

This guide is made by Death2thayer (on rs) Doctor Nitrus Brio on Gaiaonline. It is only used here in this guild or The Runescape Guild!

Intro:
Many people don't even know how to play VineSweeper. And for one, I was one of them until Da Godchild showed me how. Sometimes players just dig around hoping to get points and also flag areas were there are no seeds! Well, I am here to show spread the wisdom on how to play! Believe me, it gets addicting.
I have saved up 106k vinesweeper points before i spent it to get me lvl 90 farming. My goal is either 1-2million points.

Vinesweeper is a challenging game. This game was adapted from MINESWEEPER game.

*You cannot bring Familiars into this minigame.
*This mini game is safe unless you get poisoned.



Items to bring
Money (5000 for 10 flags, flags cost 500gp each)
spade

*You buy flags at from Mrs. Winkin, Farmer Blinkin, or buy
them with your points

*You can buy a spade for 5gp from Mrs. Winkin as well.


Winkin's Farm

Go to any leprechaun at any farming patch.
Right Click > Teleport

He will Teleport you to Winkin's Farm.

If you want to leave, Go through the Portal and you will
be teleported back to were you teleported from.

Winkin's Farm is a big empty farm that is surrounding the
farming house in the middle.

In the house is Mrs. Winkin, Mr. Winkin went to the market to sell
fresh load of Ogleroots and will be back; so, she and Farmer Blinkin
are looking after the farm while he's gone.

NPC

Farmer Blinkin:
-buy/get back Flags
-buy Ogleroots

Mrs. Winklin:
-Buy/get back Flags
-Buy spade
-Trade in points for rewards


In the farm area there are Farmers, you cannot interact with them.
Once you dig up a patch that reviels a seeds, or you plant a flag
they will come over and cover up the farm once again by 6x6 ratius.



Points

Points. Hard thing to explain.
When you dig a spot that reviels a number, you get (a) point(s).
When your flag is planted on a seed and farmer digs it, you get
points.
When someone else's flag is dugged up by farmer and you are close
you get points.

You lose points by digging up a seed. *only spot*
You won't get points if Rabbit eats the seeds, thus your flag is
taken away.

When playing the minigame, You can view your points that is located
at the top of the game screen.

Anyways, when you have enough points you can exchange them into
seeds, super compost, flags, or exp (to farming).



Rewards

If you trade in your points for items, you will only trade in points

for 1 item. Example: 10 points = 1 tomatoe seed

Herb Seeds:
Guam- 10 points
Marrentill- 10 points
tarromin- 10 points
Kwuarm - 1,000 points
Ranarr- 4,000 points

Flower Seeds:
Nasturtium- 10 points
woad- 30 points
limpwurt- 70 points

Hops Seeds:
Asgarnian- 5 points
krandorian- 20 points

Bush Seeds:
red- 5 points
cadavaberry-5 points
dwelberry- 5 points
Jangerberry- 10 points
Whiteberry- 25 points
Posion Ivy- 30 points

Wood Tree Seeds:
Acorn- 100 points
Willow- 1,800 points
Maple- 1,200 points
Yew- 29,000 points

Fruit Tree Seeds:
Pineapple- 10,000 points
Palm- 35,000 points

Special Patch Seed-
Spirit- 55,000 points

Other:
Super Compost: 5,000 points
Flag- 50 points

Trade points:
Points = exp

*Note:* at a low level trading in points for exp is not worth it;
you are losing exp. Buy the seeds and plant. Once at a high level the
seeds are pointless to buy because Points = Exp.. exp 1 point = 1
exp, 100 points = 100 exp etc.*



Flags

Flags cost 500 gold, or 50 points. You can buy them from Farmer
Blinkin or Mrs. Winklin.

Flags are needed to play this game. You are allowed to only have 10
flags on you at a time.

Flags are your marker, once you "flagged" the patch of dirt a farmer
will come over, take it, and dig up that area. If you have a seed
the farmer will hold on to your flag, if there isn't a seed the
farmer will KEEP your flag thus, you have to buy another one.

Also, Flags not only bring over the Farmer but the Rabbits in the Field.
These suckers will take destroy your flag and eat the seed
underneath it (if one is under there.) *Read more about rabbits further down.*

If you run out of Flags go talk to Farmer Blinkin or Mrs. Winkin to
buy flags, or trade in your points for them. Ok, if the farmer held
on to your flags. Farmer Blink or Mrs. Winkin will give them back to
you for free!

When you exit the mini-game, your flags will be kept on hold until
you return!


Ogleroots

Ogleroots are stackable vegetable that shrinks anyone who eats it.
But in this minigame you cannot eat it but Rabbits can!

You can buy Ogleroots only from Farmer Blinkin for 10gp each or dig
them up, which is random.

Ogleroots shrink the rabbits thus, easier and safer for you to place
your flag on that patch of soil. So "feed" (right click on rabbit
and click "feed" to feed it the ogleroot, or click on the Ogleroot
and then click on the rabbit.)

When you leave the minigame they are converted into money, the same
price as you bought them. So, if you dug them up it is free money!



Rabbits

Rabbits are pest in this minigame. They will eat your seed when you
flag a patch of soil with your Flag. The best way to get rid of
them is to feed them Ogleroots. This shrinks them, but they are only
temporarily gone!

Good news, if you feed them the ogleroot you are rewarded 30exp in
the Hunter Skill!!!

How to play

You jump the little fence and you are now out in the field.
You are wondering, "How can I possibly find a seed in this
empty field?" Maybe your answer is to simply just dig around.

DON'T DIG AROUND AT FIRST!!! You will dig up a seed and lose points.
Not only that, if you are by other people, they will be angry at you! And later down the road, you will be angry at people for doing that near you.

Anyways, to search for a seed you need to INSPECT the patch of soil.
RIGHT CLICK > INSPECT

INSPECTING

INSPECTING is the longest and boring thing to do because
A- You will get crappy messages that says "got mud in your eyes." "found some roots" or other things. This tell you that you FAILED to see if there is a seed or not.

B- It takes many inspections to finally get a message a message that either says "There is a seed spotted in the patch" or "there is no seed spotted in this patch."

c- Make sure you keep inspecting the patch until you get either of those two messages. If there is a seed FLAG IT!!! (kill rabbits near by before doing), if there isn't DIG IT UP, thus revealing a number


Numbers

When you dig up a patch of soil, it will reveal a number. This number is added to your points, not only that it is indicating how many seeds are touching that number. Yes, a seed is TOUCHING that NUMBER.

Here is a good way to tell house many seeds are touching that number.

Table/Grid
Number---how many seeds touching it
1----------1
2----------2
3----------3
4----------4
5----------5 So forth to number 8.

Sometimes, when you dig up, the field instantly is cleared out with blank spaces but around it has numbers, this tells you there are no seeds in that area but there are seeds around those numbers!

The table above is very useful because if you look at it at a 9x9 grid and place any number in the middle. Such as 4. There are 4 seeds around that number but were are they? This is where you inspect that grid until you found all 4 seeds. DIG when it says for sure that there is no seeds!

ok, look at the picture above, I am going to test you. Do you know where the seeds are? Since you can't inspect it is quite hard, but yet, this is how professional do it.

hint#1: More than one seed can touch many numbers
hint#2: in this picture, start with the big numbers.


Multiple people

You can get points just for being by someone who just flagged an area and the farmer will dig it up revealing a seed and give you/the other person points, BUT, you can't just stand there, you have to dig up at least 1 spot per seed dug up by that person. You will get points other than that you won't.

Other players will be nice enough and leave your patches empty patches of that you know are seeds alone and go to a different spot or help you out. But that is not the case most of the time, they will flag it!! So, always be cautious about those people.

Have friends joining you in, it is more fun to actually fill up the game with numbers and then flag.

By looking at the table, you can see how they found the seeds, they have flagged it. The empty spots mean that there is no seeds there, by? Because the numbers around there are touching a seed already. Look at the left side corner where there is a flag. surrounding it is 3 ones. Remember the table, #1 is touching 1 seed. Those 3, number 1's are only that that one seed.

Confusing i know, lets put it this way. If you look at one number and that one seed.
Number 1: "Hey, i am an one and I am touching that one seed. No other seed can touch me. My neighbor next to me is also touching one seed, it is the same seed as i am touching but who cares, i am not touching another seed."

For the threes there. There are three seeds and each of them are touching 3 seeds. Remember the grid? This is how it works.

I have found a four when i logged in, someone already dugged around. Well, i wanted to find those 4 seeds surrounding that number 4. I did. So i was thinking, now that I have that, how can I find the other seeds for those two's without inspecting. Well, i did it less than 1 minute just digging without inspecting. By doing the grid and table chart.

It is best to look at everything in every picture. I am starting from scratch, and showing you how i can find out the seeds without inspecting mostly.

ok, i found a seed. Now there are ones surrounding it. Now look at a one that is touching a seed. Now use the 9x9 grid method. By knowing the number table you will know that only 1 seed is touching that one, so everything around that can be dug up. Now move to the next one that is Touching the Seed and repeat the process.

Now in picture number 2 (middle) i given out tips. You see the number two. It is already touching 1 seed, so where is the one seed? Well, it is clearly right there in the upper right-hand corner. (indicated in Red). Now that is a seed there is also a number one next to it. By using what you know use the 9x9 grid and dig up those areas! See how easy it is to find spots that does have seeds?!
