3nodding to all the people who've never been to texas- personally, i think Texas almost lives up to it's cowboy infamy. No, people don't ride their horses to school, but there is an annual trail ride where like thirty people get on their horses and go down the highway. My neighborhood's not normal, so don't judge by this, but my neighborhood has about ten horses in all. my family, currently contributing a measly two (two of our horses died, and we sold off four others) No, people don't usually wear cowboy hats to school, only on crazy hat day. Texas is average, i get some crazy questions about Texas.

i love Texas, the majority of my friends hate it. Too flat/no mountains, bad beaches, humid and hot weather and who knows what else. i specially love it's spaciousness. My family has five hundred acres of deerlease four hours away. it's not all that flat, it's pretty hilly actually (for Texas).

My friend from Oregon said they were startled when they first came to Texas. In Oregon, apparently, you don't wave to people you don't know. like, let's say you'd be taking a walk and pass by someone else who's taking a walk too, well- you don't wave. you just ignore them and keep to yourself. eek weird huh? it that Texas is wierd or Oregon is wierd, i'm not sure which it is but i can't imagine not waving politely and briefly commently on the weather, if not stopping to chat. We also wave to cars from our neighborhood.

My husband went down to Texas last year to visit an old friend and he was out walking around in the boonies and he ran into a wild bore O___O; He had to jump a fence and run for it.
He and I are planning to move there sometime in the future =]
Also, it's not that it's odd people don't wave in other states, it mostly depends more on the town, smaller towns seem to be friendlier in general.

Haha, no, I don't live in a small town (Fort Worth/Dallas area) and you still wave at people. Or at least nod. That kinda stuff was weird for me when I first moved down to Texas (I'm a Chicago native) but I think I've gotten used to it. x3
In Chicago, you weren't even supposed to make eye contact when you were walking down the street. It was like everyone thought they were going to get mobbed or something.

Gosh, a lot of people judge the north west because we like to keep to our selves. I live up in Washington and I personally think it would be a little creepy to wave or chat with a stranger, I mean stranger danger? It probably has to do with our history and being mountain men and such. A lot of independence. And no offense, but I really don't like Texas. But like you said, I just couldn't imagine living somewhere without mountains and forests. =]

There are mountains in Texas. They're just not much to talk about. Look up Big Bend national park.
Anyways, I live in Texas. Houston ftw. Actually I like Corpus better-- that's where I was born.
