I do not mean to be rude, but Cuthanlion has asked me if she and I could roleplay, just the two of us, for skill improvement. I agree. We were doing this over AIM, but unfortuneately she has contracted the same nastey virus I had last month. Thus, for the purpose of furthering her skills, I have opened this topic in the Guild. You may read it, especially if you enjoy the character of Haldir, but do not post.
Thank you.

Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir sighed, looking over the parchment in front of him. It was nowhere near how he had planned the letter to go, but it had to be done. Celeborn was seeking the aid of the remainning Elven realms in sending some of those wishing to dwell in the sacred forest to Lothlorien. Their population had dwindled drastically since the War of the Ring. Since Galadriel's departing. However, Haldir found that his own life had grown far more joyous since those fateful battles. He had thought, at one point, that he was going to die. The wounds he had sustained at the Battle of Helm's Deep had been nearly mortal. Now, thanks to the healing given to him by Elrond's twin sons, he had lived. Yes, there had been consequences, for the Elf had a hard time drawing a bow to it's full potential, not to mention some of the more complicated sword techniques he had prided himself on. Walking however, was something that did not change, except... oddly enough... on rainy or cold days. He found he had developed a slight limp during those times, due to the bad weather which raged outside. Now however, Haldir banished those dark thoughts of those even darker days. He had to finish this letter, for a messanger was being sent at sunrise to deliver it. Celeborn would still wish to read over the Marchwarden's words, and it was those words which he found himself struggling with. Haldir was never known for his diplomacy skills. A warrior, not a politician, Haldir never really understood the way a person could smile with so much sincerity... and yet be ploting the demise of another even when staring them in the face. But Celeborn could not handle all of the overseeing work needed for Lothlorien, and since Haldir was one of the remaining Elves whom the Elf Lord could trust, the duty had fallen to him. 'How I wish I could just relax...' Haldir thought, his mind straying from the parchment to thoughts of his family. 'Aras would be playing with our child... Taking a walk perhaps... I wish I could join them.' and yet, he knew there was much work to be done.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras had taken Elsair to the rivers edge to explore. The child was just learning to walk. He had been blessed with his father's beautiful platnium hair but had her own light eyes. She watched as he stumbled towards the river, giggling. She laughed as well and came up behind him, huggin him "Not too close to the river, little one." She repremanded gently. Elsair gigled again and grinned "Ada!" He squealed happily. Aras shook her head "Not right now, Ada is at work." SHe said. The baby pouted and began to splah his hands in the water, his mother's arms supoting him. About and hour later the small boy had fallen into sleep, his tiny thumb stuck between his lips. Aras smiled and took him to their hom in the trees. After putting him to bed she went to go cook dinner.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir sighed, standing in the doorway and watching Aras cook. He had finally gotten finished with the letter, having delivered it to Celeborn himself only moments ago. Now, as he leaned against the doorframe, his robes making not a sound, he smiled. Yes, the Elf was tired, but he was also so very glad to be home. "I take it Elsair is already asleep?" he asked, smiling at his wife.
~~~
Cuthanlion: She jumped slightly but relaxed, realising who it was. She smiled and nodded, taking the pot off the fire "Yes, I put him to bed not to long ago." She informed, walking over to him and smiling "How was work?"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir rolled his eyes in exhasperation, putting his hands on Aras' hips when she stood in front of him. "Work... How was work?" he laughed, "As tiring and tedious as it was yesterday and the day before and the day before that. Until Lothlorien returns to some of it's former glory, my life will continue to be far buisier than I could ever want." he sighed slightly, resting his forehead against Aras', "I want to just spend a day with you and Elsair... just a day... with no work, no meetings, no things needing reading or signing... Just a day."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She smiled and kissed him lightly "Well then...Maybe you should talk to Celeborn..." She said with a smile. She heaved a heavy sigh as Elsair wailed from the other room "That child has been so restless lately!" She said, leaving the room just long enough to fetch Elsair. The poor boy was hiccuping now and that only upset him more. She sighed and bounced him lightly "Come now, shhh..." She encouraged gently. Elsiar stopped cryinng after a while. Aras smiled "Thats my boy..." She said smiling. SHe handed the little boy over to his Ada "I'm going to make plates..." She said, walking back into the kitchen.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir nodded, smiling at the boy as he held his son in one arm, the other was wrapped protectively over the boy's side, to keep him from falling. "I certainly intend to, but how can he give me a day off? There is so much happening right now. So many things he needs me for."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She sighed, setting some bread and soup on the tables. She put some applesauce at Elsair's place. "Cerinly a few hours wouldn't hurt, would they?" She asked, getting a pitcher of milk. She sat down at her place, waiting for Haldir to set Elsiar in the high chair and take his own seat. She had poured two glasses of wine for them and had a bottle of milk ready for Elsair.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir indeed set Elsair in his chair before sitting down himself. "I hope it would not hurt. But things... well... they do not tend to go as planned whenever I am not around. Remember what happened last time, during your pregnancy? Ithinir nearly got himself killed over that boarder dispute with the men of Rohan."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras nodded, sipping at her wine "Of course..." she siad with a sigh. She tapped her fingers on the table "Have heard from your sister?" She asked, trying to get off the subject of work "Any new children?" She asked with a slight laugh.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, picking up his own wine glass, "No, no word since the last time. I certainly hope she has not had anymore children... if so, she could very nearly start her own village."
~~~
Cuthanlion:Aras laughed and nodded "Perhaps we will recieve a letter soon, updating us. Last i heard from her she had found a new love." She said with another laugh "I am thinking she needs to lie low for a while..." She said noddong. Aras would have liked a second child but she was content with Elsair.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "A new love?" Haldir asked, looking to Aras in confusion, "Did I miss this last letter? Since when did..." he shook his head, "It is not common for our people to take a second husband or wife, you know this... Valar, I would hate to think of what those around her must be saying."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras nodded "She sayd there had been alot of critisim and unpleasant rumors. But she doesn't care." Aras sighed "Your sister does have SOME admerible qualties..." SHe said. "I guess the thing that worried me was the tear stains on the letter. As much as she may deny it i think she does care..."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "She does." Haldir replied, watching Elsair was the child smiled at him. "She cares deeply about what others think of her. She always has. Which makes me truly wonder at her course of action."
~~~
Cuthanlion: "Maybe she really loves him..." Aras said. "Even when people said things about me becuase i was prgnant and we weren't married i still loved you even though i cared what they thought..." She said quietly, offering him a smile.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "You truly did care?" Haldir asked, for this had never been confirmed between them. "Then why did you not say something?"
~~~
Cuthanlion: "You were busy and already worried enough. I didn't think it was that important..." She said with a shrug. Pushing her empty plate away from her.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir suddenly realized, he had not truly been eating. The Elf found that he was simply enjoying the time he spent with his wife and son and had completely forgotten about the meal. He picked up his fork, taking a bite of the potatoes as Aras spoke. "I am truly sorry... It seems that is all I have been... busy. And of course worried to boot. But," and at this he looked directly into Aras' eyes. "But whatever you have to say, or whatever you feel, any concerns at all... they are important. All of them."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She smiled and nodded "Of course, Meleth Nin..." She said as she took the dishes away.ELsair had fallen asleep, covered in the applesace. After doing a few dishes Aras laughed at the sleeping babe "Seems he'll need a bath..."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, sitting back in the chair and sipping his wine. "Indeed... the poor boy is exhausted. Did you have him running about in circles today, meleth nin?"
~~~
Cuthanlion: She shook her head "No...He was just being hiself. Playful and energetic. Guess he finally ran out of energy." She said taking him out of the seat and heading for the bathroom, her white niughtdress flowing behind her.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir stood, following after his wife. "I will help you." he said, going before her and heating the fire in the bathroom. He took a large bucket from the room, going outside to fill it with water, before returning, placing it over the fire to warm the water enough for the child's bath.
~~~
Cuthanlion: She smiled as she got Elsair's night clothes together. SHe thanked Haldir before setting the boy into his bath, He relaxed at the warm water, almost awake but not really she smiled at him and the looked at Haldir "Thank you, for such a wonderful gift." She said, refering to the baby.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir actually blushed slightly, but he said nothing. He left the room, closing the door behind him before returning to the living room. Winter was setting in already, and he began to build a nice warm fire in their own chambers, after bringing wood in from the living room fire place of course.
~~~
Cuthanlion: After being sure her son was clean and comfortable she headed to her own bed. She sat on the large bed and watched as Haldir worked the fire. She smiled and pulled her hair out of the ornate dressing it had been in and let it fall past her shoulders "Comming to bed soon?"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, glancing at Aras from over his shoulder, "Of course. But I want to make sure we do not freeze to death." he laughed, "I actually heard it was going to get even colder tonight."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She nodded "Thats why i left two blankets in Elsair crib" She said, lying down on her side. She hummed softly as she watche dhim work
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Good idea." Haldir reply, replacing the fire poker near the hearth before changing clothes. He wore a robe, one that would stave off the chill, over his leggings. Shirtless however, with his hair down and un-braided, Haldir sighed as he sat down on the end of the bed. "Do you ever feel just completely tired?" he asked.
~~~
Cuthanlion: She laughed and nodded "Yes i do. Believe it or not i don't sit around all do and get fat..." She teased, watching him happily. She grinned slightly "Elsair grew another inch..."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled slightly, "I am missing him growing up because I am so busy... That settles it!" he spoke, turning to look at Aras, "I am asking for a holiday. Surely Celeborn can understand that... that I simply need to be with you and with Elsair. I love this realm and our people... but I can not neglect my duties as a husband and a father as much as I have been."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras smiled "love you are a wonderful husband and an even more wonderful father. I don't want you to doubt that." She said, sitting up and looking at him, ockcing a brow. "TYhough i wouldn't mind having you bare chested more often.' She said with a smile.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smirked, "Are you implying something?" he asked, leaning over and kissing Aras gently.
~~~
Cuthanlion: SHe laughed and gave him a coy smile "NO! Nothing at all, what ever gave you that idea?" She teased, still smiling.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir shrugged, taking his wife into his arms as he lay back upon the pillow. "No idea, meleth nin... no idea."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She chuckled and kissed his forehead "But if your up to it....I have no objections..." She said with another grin :Since you mentioned it..."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "I simply mentioned more quality time." Haldir replied, holding the woman close. "But if you insist..."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She laughed "I was only playing. Teasing you a bit. It is fun you know..." She said smiling "Though i havebeen thinking of maybe another child, but later of course."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Fun to tease me?" Haldir asked with a frown. "Another child... Vala I can hardly keep up with one." he said with a slight laugh. "But... perhaps... one day..."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She nodded and yawned "I'm tired. Lets go to bed..." She muttered against him, pretty much already asleep anyway.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir laughed, laying back against his own pillow. "That is a very good suggestion." he replied with a slight yawn. "Tomorrow... tomorrow I will ask for some time off from my duties. I promise you."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras woke up early that morning due to the wailing only a room away. She sighed and headed towards Elsair's room. After picking the babe up and changin his diaper he quieted, She set him back into the crib where he fell asleep before going into the kitchen and getting a glass of wine. She seemed to be drinking more wine these days. She then took her glass and a book to the couch.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir continued to sleep, oddly enough, through everything. He had been exhausted from the day previous. Not even the sound of Elsair or the movement of Aras leaving the bed could wake him. Eventually however, the Elf did blink, the glaze over his eyes fading quickly as morning sunshine shone in through the balcony window. He stood, running a hand through his long hair before making his way down the hall. Spotting Aras in the living room, he smiled. "Is it a good book?" the Elf asked, coming to join her.
~~~
Cuthanlion: She nodded, closing it and looking at him "It is..." She said with a charming smile "It is a romance, tragic in the begining but the two are on their way to happily ever after." She looked up as there was a knock at the door "Who would be here this early?" She asked, standing and opening the door. To her suprise she was nearly knocked over as another elf ran in and tackled Haldir "Muindor!!" Avien squealed happily.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden:"Valar!" Haldir shouted as he fell backward, Avien perched happily atop him as he was hugged. "Avien, what in the blazes are you doing here, and at this time of the year?" he asked in surprise, glancing to Aras with a silent plea of 'help'.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras chuckled and pulled Avien off Haldir "I only wanted to visit..." She said, sniffling slightly "You act as if you hate me, brother!" She said Avien stood and crossed her arms, annoyed "Suindin wanted to see you...She has grown quite a bit.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir shook his head as he stood up. "Nay, it is not that I hate you... you just surprised me. I only just awoke, so I am not quite... how should I put it... prepared for the day, let alone my sister tackling me as soon as the door is opened." he said with a smile. "Forgive me of any wrong impressions."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Avien waved her hand "You are forgiven." She then smiled "So? What of Elsair? Are there any new children?" Aras laughed "Nay Avien, there are no new children. As for Elsair? He's doing just fine. WHere is the rest of your family?" Avien smiled "Alkine Is with the children. I went ahead. They should be here by noon."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Alkine?" Haldir asked, offering his sister a chair before he disappeared, fetchin a glass of wine for himself and for Avien, since he noticed Aras already had one. "Is this the... the new husband you wrote of?"
~~~
Cuthanlion: Avien sipped at the wine and nodded "Aye, he is..." SHe said with a slight smile. Aras returned the smile "We will get to meet him soon then?" Avien nodded, swirling her wine in the glass.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir however, watched Avien in concern, "Is there... is there something wrong?" he asked, almost quietly. "I mean, you came before your family as if you wished to speak of things without them." he shrugged, "Or prehaps to prepare us for meeting this new mystery of a husband."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Avien stiffened slightly and shook her head "No...There is nothing to talk about..." She said quickly, eyeing Aras nervously. Avien downed the rest of her wine and tried to relax but only shifted more nervously. Aras stood and looked to the bedroom. "I had better change...." SHe said, leaving quickly. After Aras departed Avien looked at Haldir and sighed,
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden:Haldir stood, coming to sit in the chair at his sister's side. "Tell me, tithen pen, what troubles you. I could see it in your eyes when Alkine was mentioned. What is wrong?"
~~~
Cuthanlion: "SO many things are beinf said. Not nice things to put it lightly. People believe me to be the villiage tramp. And i know I'm not.." She wispered, her hands tightening around her glass "Things are even said about my children, Haldir!"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir's eyes narrowed, "You are a daughter of a proud lineage, Avien, and who are they? They can not trace their families back to Finwe, back to the First King of the Noldor." he smiled slightly, "They are but jealous of you, of what you have become, of what you mean to those who truely love you. They are jealous of your children, for they are all beautiful and charming and wise for their ages. They are even jealous of the fact that, while they who have lost husbands can not bear to let go of their grief, that you could and that you found joy in life again. Very few have ever done that, tithen pen... but it is not so uncommon for our line." he put his hand over his sister's own. "Pay their words no heed, for they are but gossip and the lies told by jealous women to placate their own fears and insecurities."

Cuthanlion She began to cry "I have told myself that everyday brother. But i can not bring myself to believe it. No matter how many times i run that over in my head it still hurts every time i hear those rumors get back to me." SHe didn't even bother wipping her eyes. "I had to take Suindin out of her archery classes becuas eof it."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Stay with us." Haldir replied, gently cupping his sister's face in one hand, his thumb drying her tears. "Stay with us, for we were sending word to your home, to all the Elven realms, for those who wished to come and live here. Sundin will get the very best in archery education, among other things, I swear it. You will not have to listen to such ugly rumors any longer." the Elf smiled slightly, "I am sure Aras would not mind, she would probably delight in having someone to spend the days with while I am away. And I can get Alkine work within my area, we are always in need of aid. Everything will be alright, tithen pen. I swear it."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avien watched him with the eyes of the elfling she once was "Do you mean it, Muindor?" She asked quietly, a smile twitching at her lips/
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Of course I mean it." Haldir replied smiling. "No, I just said it to get you to stop crying." he made a face and laughed, kissing his sister on the forehead. "I meant every word. You may stay here, with us, for as long as you wish it."
~~~
Cuthanlion She smiled "Are you sure we won't be a bother? My family is quite large..." She said with a laugh "Though i do not believe it will get any larger until i get rid of one of the kids..." She said with a laugh.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "It is no bother." Haldir replied, "Our house is far too big for just the three of us. In fact, I am even sure we could find you a place of your own to stay nearby if you wanted. There are many empty houses these days."
~~~
Cuthanlion "I think that would be better..." She said with a nod. "That way we wouldn't get on each others nerves TOO badly..." She said with another smile.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir laughed, "Oh, we still would, I have no doubt of that." he replied, standing. "Could I get you anything to eat? Surely it has been a long journey."
~~~
Cuthanlion She smiled "I am fine...NOt that hungry anymore these days..." SHe said with a shrug." She smiled and leaned foreward "How is the marrige going?"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir turned back to her, a slight sheepish smile on his face. "It is going well, though to tell you the truth, I wish I had more time to spend with Aras and Elsiar."
~~~
Cuthanlion She laughed "Well from Aras' letters i would say she is content with everything..." She said with a smile.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "You are trying to make me blush." Haldir spoke, but it was not a question. "Yes, at least, I hope she is. Though I think Elsiar would like to see me more than he does. The poor boy is usually asleep when I return home."
~~~
Cuthanlion "So he stays busy at least..." She said with a laugh. Haldir II is turning out to be so much like you it is rather scary, brother." She said with another laugh "He is just as bull headed as you are"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Me? Bullheaded? Are you not confusing me with our brothers?" Haldir asked with a smile, "But yes, I suppose I do have my own stubborn streaks every now and then. How old is he now?"
~~~
Cuthanlion "25 years..." She said with a nod, "He is excelling in swordsmenship thus far. Though his brothers are not talented as warriors but they are very clever to say the least..." She said with a proud nod.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled in remembrance, "Seems like ages since I saw them last... I still think of your children as Elflings, running around and wanting constant attention."
~~~
Cuthanlion Suindin still loves attention though from young boys and not you or myself..." She said with a slight smile though she seemed worried. Avien shook her head and smiled "She has a "Boyfriend" Or that is what she calls it anyway...I call him a little too bold for his own good"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir shrugged, "Things have changed, wether we like it or not, from the happenings of the Second and Third age. This Fourth Age of the world has brought about many things, some good and some bad, and changed many lives. There are less of us in Middle-earth now... and it seems that, for the first time in the history of the Eldar, we are always in a rush."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avien nodded "i guess my problems are but fuitle in the problamiatic world..." She said with a slight smile "Rumil II has been reading to me..." She said with another laugh.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "They are not futile, but even love is hurried these days." Haldir replied before smiling, "Reading to you? What about his twin?"
~~~
Cuthanlion "He has been writting poems about this girl he seems to be fond of..." She said with a giggle "It is very sweet."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Fond of? At his age?" Haldir asked in surprise. "Valar... how time flies."
~~~
Cuthanlion He's no longer an efling...none of them are..." She pointed out with a sad smile "Though i wish they were"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir sighed slightly, "It will be quite a shock to see that they have grown while I myself... well... while the rest of us have stayed the same."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avien laughed "yes i know." She said, looking at her empty wine glass. "Soon Suindin will be old enough to wed..." She shook her head "Where have the times gone, Muindor?"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "They have gone on without us... which is the way of the Eldar." Haldir replied, looking out the window to see the sun peeking through the trees. "Does she love this one?" he asked. "Well, what I mean is, do they truely love one another?"
~~~
Cuthanlion "It does not seem so..." She said with a shrug. "But i am no mind reader. Perhaps they are and it only seems childish to me..."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir shrugged, "If you move here, then it may give Sundin the amount of time to think over her love. She may not seem him for some time, unless he travels here to visit her and, in which case, I would think he loves her."
~~~
Cuthanlion She nodded and sighed "I am sure she will give me grief about making her leave him but it's for the better, i believe" She said, setting her glass down on a near-by table.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Nothing as serious as marriage should ever be rushed into." Haldir replied with a smile, "But marriages should not be delayed overly long either."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avien eyes Haldir "You would know of that wouldn't you?" She teased playfully, sticking her tounge out.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir nodded, "Aye, I would, from my own mistakes. But enough of that." he glanced to the hallway, "I wonder what is taking Aras so long..."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avine was about to say something when she heard shouting "NANETH!! Ru Phin are making fun of me again!" And in came Suindin. Much taller than her mother and about an inch shorter than Haldir. She was indeed neaustiful. She was slim like her mother and had Bright blue eyes. The two twins stumbled in next, their hair braided in delicate plaits "We were not! We were only commenting on her lack of vocabular!" Suidin huffed "You see, Naneth?!" Finally a tall dark haired Elf stumbled in with the shortest and second youngest.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled slightly, watching the interaction between siblings. He recalled when Avien would come complainning to him about something Orophin or Rumil, at that time also called Ru and Phin, had done to her. Since Haldir had been the oldest, it was only natural that Avien look up to him like a parental figure, especially when their own had not been around thanks to the various wars. "Looks like you still have your hands full."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avien nodded and looked at her kids "Stop this instant! You are beinf rude! You have not even said hello toyour uncle!" SHe growled. Suindin Squealed and launched herself into Haldir's arms "UNCLE!" Orophin, Rumil and Haldir all stood by their father, not really knowing who their "UncleU was.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, hugging Suindin gently. "You have grown so much since the last time I saw you." he spoke, looking the girl in the eyes. "And far more beautiful than your mother's words could account for." his eyes went to the boys however, "All of you have grown, as Avien and I were discussing. In fact, Orophin, Rumil, you were both mere babes when I saw you last."
~~~
Cuthanlion The boy's returned the smile and bowed in Unison "It is a pleasure to meet you..." The tall man smiled "I'm ALkine...you must be Avien's brother."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir nodded, inclineing his head in a semi-bow. "Mae govannen Alkine. Im Haldir Arothirion." he said in introduction. "It is a pleasure to meet you in person."
~~~
Cuthanlion Alikne returned the bow "The pleasure id mine." Suindin kissed her Uncles cheek before standing and hitting her two brothers on the head "Suindin! You are not a child!"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir laughed, "Suindin may not be a child... but I certainly remember someone," and his eyes went to Avien, "Who had a tendency to bite her brothers when they annoyed her too badly. I believe Rumil even had a scar for a few months from one such incident."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avien sighed "He deserved that...He made fun of my cooking." Suindin bl;inked "You cook?" Avien shook her head "Not asnymore, your father is a much better cook..." SH esaid with a laugh.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "Yes Suindin, your mother can cook... though I can never recall actually eating anything she has fixed. Of course, my culinary skills are limited at best, so I should not complain." he shook his head slightly, before his eyes went back to Alkine. "Where are you from, may I ask? And, have you ever visited Lothlorien before?"
~~~
Cuthanlion Alkine smiled lightly "I was raised in Rohan...And no...This is my first visit here, though i find it very beautiful."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Rohan?" Haldir asked in surprise. He had been to Rohan, and he remembered the land and it's people well. They were a tough people, but kind deep down. "I have never known any Elf to be from Rohan before, interesting. Well, I do hope you find Lothlorien to your liking, and now you will not even be far from home. I have been trying to extend relations between Lorien and Rohan for some time now, and things are finally beginning to look up. I do hope to have the time to show you around, just in case my sister has forgotten anything."
~~~
Cuthanlion Alkine laughed "I would like that some time." He said with a nod. Avien ushered the children out. Haldir II had stayed quiet the entire time and remained as so as he left. Avien shook her head and looked at Alkine as they left "Did something happen on the way here?" She asked. Alkine sighed "I don't know..."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Haldir II seemed a bit... how should I say it... nervous or preoccupied." Haldir spoke. "I certainly do not remember him as such as a child."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avien shook her head, standing so Alkine could sit. After he had been seated she sat on his lap "He has been like this as of late." She said with a sigh. "And Suindin has been particualy whinny
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Perhaps..." Haldir frowned for a moment, careful on broaching such a delicate subject, "Perhaps those rumors you spoke of have reached them."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avieb stiffened and Alkine rubbed her arms lovingly "Perhaps..." Avien said quietly, knowing it was true, She fumbled with her fingers nervously until Alkine took her hands gently in his "Be at peace..." He whispered kissing her lightly. Avine nodded and relaxed
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Unless there is something else going on." Haldir replied hurriedly, "I mean, they are just growing up and I recall you being quite moody at their age as well, Avien."
~~~
Cuthanlion
"Yes well i was a girl, Haldir, may i remind we have a good reason for being moody at that age...." She said with a luagh. Alkine grinned "You still are Meleth."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "I recall, but even our brothers were moody at the age, though I can hardly remember them so young. I expect all of us go through such a stage in our lives at some point."
~~~
Cuthanlion "Come now brother of course you remember Puberty...You are not that old..." She looked around "Where has Aras gone off to?" To answer that, Aras had been changing and fell asleep before she even got her nightdress off.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir shook his head, "I am older than you, Avien so I can recall when you were that age. I am even older than our brothers so I can somewhat recall their actions. I can even remember my own, but not as clearly as you or even them." but at her question, Haldir walked toward the hallway. "I am going to go check on her. Excuse me." He walked to the bedroom, finding Aras asleep on the bed. With a smile, he knelt beside her, gently stroking her hand. "Time to wake, meleth nin."
~~~
Cuthanlion Aras mumbled something "No it isn't..." She said twisting slightly, the glaze gone from her eyes "I'm still tired..." She muttered, looking at him. "What time id it Meleth nin?"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "It is not too terribly long since you left. Avien's family has arrived and we were getting worried about you since you had not returned."
~~~
Cuthanlion She rolled over "Well now that you know I'M perfectly fine you can continue your conversation without worry" She mumbled tiredly, she hadn't gotten uch sleep the previous night due to Elsair.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Meleth nin, you do not want to meet this new husband of my sister's? And her children, Valar they have grown so much." he spoke, gently holding her hand in his own.
~~~
Cuthanlion She turned over and wrapped her amrs around his neck "Can i got to sleep when they leave?" She asked, her eyes half open.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Of course." Haldir replied. "Even Elsair has not awoken, so he must be as tired as you."
~~~
Cuthanlion She nodded and stood up, still holding onto one of his hands. She stretched her arms before walking over to the bathroom and putting on a gown. She tehn walked out of the bedroom and ibto the living room. She nodded politly to Alkine who then nodded back "I applogize for my lateness...I fell asleep.." She said with a slight laugh. Alkine smiled "do not fret, my lady." He said, inclining his head.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir followed his wife, a smile on his face. "Seems young Elsair kept her up quite late last night. I feel somewhat guilty for not knowing." the Elf glanced at Aras for a moment before bowing slightly to Alkine once more, "I believe introductions are in order once more. Alkine, this is my wife, Aras. Aras, this is Avien's husband Alkine."
~~~
Cuthanlion The two nodded again, smiling. Aras backed up slightly so that she was beside Haldir and took his hand. "I hope your journey was a safe one...." Aras said Avien nodded "It was." SHe looked over at the door as someone shouted "OROPHIN!" Avien sighed "WE better go make sure our children don't kill each other. She said standing. "About the housing. Would you check in with Celeborn about it?" Avien asked, Alkine standing as well.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Of course. I need to speak with him today as it is." Haldir replied with a nod. "As for your children... I highly doubt they will kill each other... but I can imagine a bloodied nose or two."
~~~
Cuthanlion Avine nodded, heading outside "Thank you again Muindor..." She said before they both left. Aras yawned and wraped her arms around one of his, leaning against him "Housing?" She asked.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Yes," Haldir replied, putting a hand over Aras' arms. "Avien and Alkine, and their children, are going to be living in Lothlorien. I offered them our home, or one of the neighboring ones. Seems my sister thinks she would get on your nerves and thus I am to speak with Celeborn today about allowing them that house."
~~~
Cuthanlion Aras nodded, watching the couch "Do you have to leave right now?" She asked, looking up at him. "Or do you not have to talk to him later?" She asled, cocking her head to one side, causing her black hair to fall to that same side.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir shrugged slightly, "If I talk to him sooner than I can request some time off as well, perhaps even get today as part of that time off."
~~~
Cuthanlion She smiled and let him go "I suppose i will just go back to sleep then..." She said, heading back to the room. She quickly turned around and kissed him softly "I lovce you..." She said with a smile.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "And I, you." he replied, kissing his wife back. "I will return shortly, I promise. But uh, first I think I had best change clothes."
~~~
Cuthanlion She nodded and walked lsowly over to the bed, sitting on it and crossing her legs. After a few minutes she fell over and closed her eyes, burrowing under the blankets.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "I do hope you are not cold." Haldir said sarcastically as he smiled at the scene of Aras huddled beneath the blankets. He busied himself with changing into a tunic, undertunic, leggings, boots, gloves, and a cape. the Elf rebraided the plaits of his hair, before turning to smile at his wife. "I will be home soon, I hope. I also hope that Celeborn can do without me for a few days. Valar knows I need the rest and the time to spend with you and our son." Haldir walked over to the bedside, planting a kiss on Aras' forehead. "Get some sleep while I am gone." he spoke before leaving the room and the house altogether.
~~~
Cuthanlion Aras complied happily and sprawled herself out onto the bed before falling asleep.

Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir meanwhile, was attempting to find the right words to request leave from Celeborn. It was true, that the Marchwarden and the Lord of Lorien were related, by marriage only of course, for Galadriel was his great aunt and the brother of Haldir's grandfather. However, this did not make things any easier. The Marchwarden knew that things in Lothlorien had been going from bad to worse ever since Galadriel had departed. Many Elves had left, putting strain upon the few that remained to continue running the realm. Celeborn needed help, and Haldir was one of his most trusted warriors, not to mention a friend. But the more Haldir thought about it, the more he came to realize that, as much as he complained about his work, he actually enjoyed it to a certain extent. 'But I need some time off, not only to regather my own thoughts, but for Aras and Elsair. They need me more than the kingdom. Someone else can do my job for a few days.' "I know what you are going to say even before you say it." Celeborn spoke, startling Haldir from his thoughts. The Marchwarden had already entered the Elven Lord's study and was standing before a great oak desk. "I grant it to you. The time off that is. Right now, things are simply in a wait and see stage. If anything overly urgent comes up, you will be notified." he said with a slight smile. Haldir bowed, "Hannon le, hir nin. But... if I may?" Celeborn nodded. "My sister and her family have arrived and I was wondering if they could be given one of the abandoned houses near my own. Their family is quite large so I had thought perhaps the house of Lord Orinil would suit them. It has been well kept, even since the Lord and his family sailed." Celeborn thought on this for a moment. "I will send some of the original staff of the manor to the house. They will be able to aid your sister and her husband. In fact, if they are to be staying for a long period of time, have her husband come to see me. I will find something for him to do." the Elf smiled, "In all truth, I am glad they are here. The more Elves that reside in this realm, the more it actually feels like home again." Haldir smiled as well, memories drifting through his mind at the mere mention of Lothlorien's prior greatness and beauty. "I will tell her, hir nin." "Oh, and Haldir," Celeborn spoke as the Elf had been about to leave. "Do not hesitate to come to me for anything. You are, after all, some of the last family I have in Middle-earth, certainly the last in Lorien." Haldir bowed, a slight smile on his face. "Hannon le." he spoke, "I will remember that." And, with a smile from the Elven lord, Haldir left Celeborn's study and began the journey back to his own house.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras continued to sleep happily, rolling around on the bed. She reached out and grabbed Haldir's pillow, snuggling up wiht it like a child would their Teddy bear.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: When Haldir returned home, he found Aras still asleep and clinging to his pillow. The Elf had to fight the urge to laugh, and instead went to check on Elsair. The boy was still sleeping soundly, much like his mother. Instead, Haldir found himself in the kitchen. He boiled some water, making tea, before retiring to the living room with a cup. The fire in the hearth burned heartily, and Haldir was glad for the warmth it gave off, for he knew from his journey outside, that things certainly were cold. In that moment, he found himself wondering just where Avien and her family had gone. Haldir had sent a messanger with the okay from Celeborn to his sister, but he realized that the poor Elven lad delivering the message might be hard pressed to find her.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras came into the living room, wrapped in her blanket, Elsair in her arms and awake now. He goggled and looked at his father "Ada!!" Aras smiled and sat on the couch, cradling Elsair who was giggling happily and playing with her hair. "I take it you got the Ok from Lord Celeborn?" She asked.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "Aye, I did, both for the time off and for Avien's family to move into the house just next door." his gaze went to the fire however, thinking over so many things. "Do you remember when we met?" the Elf asked.
~~~
Cuthanlion: She nodded and laughed "I do...I was on a Vacation of sorts and then i got wrapped up when i met you..." She said with a laugh.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "You never told me you were on vacation." Haldir replied, looking to his wife.
~~~
Cuthanlion: "I was..." She said with a nod "Though it became a permenant vacation..." She bounced Elsair slightly and he giggled.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "I can see why. Everything we ever did became permenant. I mean, it was always ongoing. No looking back." he sighed, "We things simpiler when we were constantly fighting, or did things simply become complicated when we realized that the only things we needed to fight, were ourselves?" It was not really a question to Aras, but something which had been on Haldir's mind more and more of late. He was a warrior, not someone who spent their days cooped up in a study going over parchment after parchment. He was a Marchwarden, a leader, and someone who felt far more at home on a flet overlooking the forest as he waited for invading Orcs than with ink and quill writing up a letter.
~~~
Cuthanlion: "I think all the time spent indoor is getting to you..." She said witha smile, handing their son to him. He giggled before grabbing a hold of Haldir's hair.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, taking Elsair and letting the boy play with his hair. "Perhaps... It just seems like, when I am not wracking my brain for the right thing to say or an answer to a problem, I am dwelling on the past." he shrugged slightly, "Maybe it is more of the melancholy of the winter months that is getting to me than anything." he looked up to Aras, "In fact, I think this vacation may help me concentrate on the here and now."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She nodded and smiled "WEll...Christmas is on it's way...And your sister will be here this year. WE'll have a fantastic dinner..." She said with a smile, crossing her legs. She wasn't one to particuarly dwell on the past.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "I had very nearly forgotten about Yule." Haldir replied in astonishment. "Which means that.... There will be tweleve people here for it this year. I mean, You and Elsair and myself, then Avien and Alkine, Rumil II and Orophin II, Suindin and Haldir II, then of course Orophin and Rumil and Celeborn." It was only right to invite his great uncle, especially since Celeborn, as he had said earlier, had no remaining family left in Lothlorien. Relations between himself and Thranduil were still not as good as they had once been, so Celeborn would not even think of traveling to Eryn Lasgalen for the holliday. "And that is only if no one else should show up."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras blinked "I guess it's going to take alot of shopping..." She said, laughing. "That will be a very large dinner..." She said with a nod "WE have many extended relations no?" She asked.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "I certainly hope the market can accomodate such a gathering." Haldir spoke, thinking of the poor shopkeeper who would, undoubtabley, be wracking his brain and pocketbook to come up with enough supplies to last Lorien, not only through the winter, but for the holiday season. "I could always travel to Edoras, or even Minas Tirith for the supplies."
~~~
Cuthanlion: "Maybe we should take a trip to Minas Tirith...we could see Aragorn. Besides Elsair has never seen anywhere but Lorien...It would make a nice family trip..." She said with a nodd, leaning against Haldir.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "It would be quite fun, but it is a long journey. Nearly a week if we do not ride hard."
~~~
Cuthanlion: "I think Elsair could handle it...He's nearly two!" She said, smiling, "ANd i would be fine..." She said with a nod.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: The Elf nodded, "Then it is settled. During this time off, we shall take a trip to Minas Tirith."
~~~
Cuthanlion: "Should i go pack our things?" She asked, excited at the thought of a trip. She had been cooped up in one place for much too long. Aras was actually bouncing slightly.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir laughed, "We will leave tomorrow, but if you would like, go ahead. I will watch Elsair. I will need to tell Avien that we shall be gone for a few weeks."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras nodded and imidiatly rushed into the bedroom to pack thew things they would need. She made sure to pack coats and blackets seeing as winter was on it's way.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir meanwhile, looked down at Elsair. "Do you want to go on a journey?" he asked with a smile. "Your first ever. We are going to Minas Tirith, which is a very big city, far bigger than here."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Elsair giggled and kicked his feet wildly, latching onto Haldir's hair once more "Ada! Ada!!"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir laughed, "I shall take that as a yes." he spoke with a smile.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Elsair yawned a toothless yanw and stretched lazily in his father's arms.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir took his hair from Elsair's grasp, allowing the boy to rest comfortably in his arms. "Still tired, hm?" he ased with a smile. "Well, you will have plently of time to sleep, tithen pen."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras came out with one bag pakced and set it by the couch "Is he asleep again?" She asked with a smiel.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Not yet, but I think he is seriously considering it." Haldir replied.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras laughed and went over to them, picking him up gently and rocking him back and forth. "He is so special..." She said, kissing the babe;s forehead.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Aye..." Haldir replied, standing and looking to the bag Aras had packed, "That was fast."
~~~
Cuthanlion: "I am not finsihed, darling. Those are our winter clothes..." She said, walking down the hall and into ELsair's bedroom. She set him down gently and stroked his head "Sleep welll.." She said before going back to her own bedroom.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir followed, taking out some of his own clothes from the closet. "We can not take too many bags." he spoke.
~~~
Cuthanlion: "Yes i know...I am only planning to take two..." She informed. She took out a second bag and placed it on the bad. "I know that even on vacation you can not get away freom laundry."
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "We will need provisions as well." he spoke, setting his clothes upon the bed next to the bag. "I will go and make some fresh lembas for the journey."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She nodded "Do not forget softer foods for ELsair..." He did not need milk seeing as he still breast fed most the time, thus the reason behind him having no teeth.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir nodded, "I will not make the lembas too hard, plus we can soak it in water for him. I will also pack a jar of the applesauce you made him as well."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras nodded and continued packing clothes. Once she was finished she set the bag beside the other one and then sat on the couch, kicking her legs lightly and humming.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir soon returned, a bag of lembas and other food stuffs packed. He set it beside the other. "We will need to bring weapons of course. The roads have been much safer since the war, but I do not want to take any chances."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras nodded and grabbed her sword and bow. She eyed the sword and smiled at Haldir "What do you say to a friendly dueL?"
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "A duel, so early in the day?" Haldir asked with a shrug, "I suppose." he added with a smile, walking over to the mantle and taking his sword down from above it. The sword was ellagant. The blade was curved, much like a scimitar but longer and far more narrow. The handle itself was wrapped in fine leather, embroidered with golden leaves as a symbol of Lothlorien. It was a two handed weapon, perfect for close combat.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras found Haldir's sword beautiful but loved hers. The long blade was in excelent condition and had gold vines running up the blade. It was odd for an elf to carry such a sword but she didn't care. SHe ran her fingers over the smooth silver hilt "Ready when you are...:
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "I do not think we should spare in the living room, meleth nin. Perhaps outside?"
~~~
Cuthanlion: She slapped him on the arm "You know i did not mean that!' She said, sticking her tounge out at him with a laugh,
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: The Elf shook his head, "I know... but I had to give you a hard time about it. Come, letus go out back, so that passing neighbors do not think we have lost what little of our minds we still have."
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras laughed and took his arm "Sounds like a date...Though i do not think I have any sanity left darling." She said as they headed for the back.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: "Really? I was under the impression you did." Haldir shrugged, a glint of humor in his eyes. "So I suppose I can not drive you even more insane then... good. Means I can do just about whatever I want." he laughed before moving away from Aras, holding his sword at the ready.
~~~
Cuthanlion: "Not quite, dear..." She said, holding her sword in a ready position. "Just becuase you can't drive me any more insane doesn't mean you can't make me mad.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir shrugged, "Suit yourself, meleth nin. I will just have to strive to make you mad." he added with a half smile. "Ladies first."
~~~
Cuthanlion: She smiled and took one ste foreward with a sheepish grin, waiting for his move. Her sword was held out in front of her at a slightly slanted angle.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir held his sword with both hands, the blade over his left shoulder. He suddenly charged forward, one hand pressing down upon the sword's handle to drive the forward quickly, aiming down upon Aras.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras quickly ducked and went behind him, throwing her foot out in an attempt to trip him.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir sidestepped, pivoting on his foot as he swung his sword around in an arch.
~~~
Cuthanlion: "Ah...." She growled, blocking it with her own sword. She was at a bit of a disadvantage now, seeing as she was on the ground. She pushed with her sword, giving it all she had.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir's blade fell back, but only long enough to allow Aras to stand.
~~~
Cuthanlion: She stood quickly, her sword back up. SHe eyed him carefully, watching each move,
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir smiled, "I yield to you the next strike." he spoke, wanting Aras to come at him.
~~~
Cuthanlion: Aras rolled her eyes and then went for it, moving quickly. She brought the sword down and the quickly reverted it so that it went for his side, though she turned the blade over in case he didn't block it.
~~~
Nileregwen DoUrden: Haldir did block the hit, both of his arms twisting his sword to accept before pushing her blade away. Their swords moved in a fast arch before Haldir used his strength to literally push Aras a few feet back, unlocking their blades.
