Name: Raena (Rei-na)

Age: 20 turns

Sex: Female

Sexuailty: Heterosexual, very much so

Craft: healer (aspiring dragon healer)

Rank: apprentice

Physical Description: Her hair reaches her midback and almost always tied up with a piece of leather to keep it out of her way. The limp straight black hair won't do anything fancy no matter how hard she tried, when she tried. Her eyes are a green hazel and slightly hooded. Standing at 5'6, she isn't very intimidating physically with small shoulders and only toned arms from years of scrubbing pots and kettles. With a long torso and decent hips, she is fair to average in her figure or her face. Normally she wears green and gold tunics and trousers now that she is with the healers more then in the kitchens.

Personality: She is strong willed, even after everything that happened to her, she is still the strong young woman who fought off a bronze rider. While she has a caution of men now, tenseing if she even sees someone resembling S'kagi. She is determind to try not to let that get in the way of her life. Still prone to being startled, her nerves are starting to calm now.

She is capable of having and does have male friends just like she can have physical romantic relationships though chooses not to, kissing and such is all good but she tends to be a bit prudish on who she will bed. Typically happy, she does have a tendency to over react a bit seeing things as worse than they might be or dramatize something. It doesn't come out much unless the circumstance is big enough.

In a group, she is fluid with her standing, she is just as comfortable following a long as leading though her nature is attempt to lead whenever possible. Probably part of the draw of being a healer, getting to tell people what to do, its for their own good after all.

She is courage to the point of almost stupid when it comes to protecting people. When she sees someone hurt or in mortal danger, she will always be the first to jump in to help. It doesn't matter if it would be harmful to her, she will be there without a second thought, even to someone she deeply dislikes.

History: From the time she was old enough to work, Raena lived in Ista weyr. Her family supported her decision to go to the weyr; it was good opportunity for her to do more than just tend the family’s farm. Besides, it was safer in the weyr then anywhere else. Her cousin helped her get the job of servant, not glamorous but there was no complaint from her. Industrious, she enjoyed working and most of those that worked with her liked her. Always friendly with a smile and an ever helpful hand should someone need held, she was known for begin a good worker.

She liked the dragon riders well enough, certainly had no qualms about smiling to them and serving them at the tables. That got her into trouble with one rider. S’kagi didn’t have the best reputation around the weyr, his love of drink was pretty well known. Her pension for saying ‘you drink like a bronze!’ wasn’t talking about the dragon, but about this one rider. The handsome dark-haired rider had approached her, she was quick with a smile and just as quick to try and escape. It went horribly array. He grabbed a hold of her, the more she fought the harder she was held. It seemed like a lifetime between when she was grabbed and the sickening crack of her bone breaking in her arm sounded. Blinding pain and fear combined and she did the only thing she could think of. Breaking the porcelain drinking cup she had in her hand, she used the biggest shard available. Without any thought but to escape, she used the shard to attack his face.

The moment she was let go, the shard dropped and she fled from the dinning hall. Not stopping a moment to rest, the panicked young woman flew to her room and slammed the door, shaking with terror. It wasn’t fear of the rider himself, but of the trouble she’d be in. She attacked a dragon rider! A bronze rider at that, if she was even given time to pack her stuff she’d consider herself lucky.

Instead, her fears were dissipated when some of the top healers of the weyr came in shortly to check on her. Not since she was a young child had she been so fussed over. They tried to get her to sleep after setting her arm, but a nightmare woke her shortly after. For her own wellbeing, she was moved into the wing with the healer. Numbweed caused her to gag from the first moment, but she had to admit she did feel a bit better here.

Never one to sit back and relax, even with a broken arm she assisted the healer, ignoring his protests to the point it was clear that if she wasn’t allowed she’d end up doing more harm to herself. None of her jobs were hard, stir numbweed, or fetch small things from this jar or that. In doing this, her mind was taken from the encounter; both her arm and her spirit were mending.

Inexplicably, one of her last days in the room she had spent over half a tern, there was a jar waiting for her by the fireplace. Inside the warm jar was a single small but firm egg nestled in the warm sand that filled most of the jars. It was a present, from who she wasn’t sure, but the lady who came in the room shortly after said she was told to bring it to her. Raena assumed it must either be a parting gift or an apology for what had happened to her. The scars in her mind were still fresh, but she was willing to take the offering.

When asked what she wanted to do, she was embarrassed by the idea of being sent home, everyone would think she was rejected. Never would she embarrass the weyr by speaking against the weyr. Besides, speaking against a Bronze rider, it was ludicrous. Working with the healer had been so much fun, and now with a flit to care for, she could hardly see herself truly going home.

So, deciding she wasn’t going to be chased away by that rider, she rolled her shoulders and asked to stay on to learn how to be a healer, a dragon healer perhaps. After asking the third time her voice was finally strong enough and they relented to let her stay.

Pets: Spearkeek blue flit

Other/Talents: Good cook, pretty good at learning the healer craft

Will this character be a candidate? After she gets past her fears.

Note: This character is based off the servant girl in S’kagi's history, Ryu worked with me to complete everything. She approved using the character from S'kagi's profile.
