OKAY, so I had been wanting to learn how to do this for awhile, and after the arrival of my braided tee from Solerawear, I decided to experiment..!

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, this is what the "braids" on the t-shirt look like:

So let's get started! Apologies ahead of time for the crappy MSPaint tutorial.. I'll edit this post with tutorial photos once I get home n_n heart

STEP 1:

*Find a shirt that is stretchy! Poly-blend tees work the best 3nodding

*Place the shirt over a sheet of cardboard, ironing board, or some other solid surface that separates the front & back of the shirt.

STEP 3:

*Use an exacto knife, and a ruler (if necessary), to make slits along the shirt. You don't have to make them straight, and if you want jagged slits, feel free to use scissors. Experimenting is fun!

STEP 3a:
*You can remove the collar band if you want. I prefer to do this because I like the feel of boatneck-style shirts. This is optional, and entirely up to you!

STEP 4:

*Take the first slit piece of the shirt, and pull it down over the slit piece below it.

STEP 5:

*Take the second slit piece, and pull it over the first slit piece.

STEP 6:
*Take the third slit piece and pull it through the second slit of fabric, etc, etc, etc...(Continue to do this until you get to the bottom of the shirt!)

STEP 6a:
*Once you're there, get something to hold the last piece in place, and start again at the top of the shirt, beginning with the second slit piece, and repeat steps 4-7!

STEP 7:
*Stitch the final slit piece to the bottom hem of the shirt, then take the time to space out the slits with your fingers if you feel obligated to.

STEP 8:
*Voila, you're done! The finished shirt should look something like this:

Thanks for checking this out, and I'd love to see any shirts, pants, or whatever else you choose to create with this tutorial! 4laugh
