User ImageTamba was reveling in his fine catch this morning. He was utilising the little patch of rocky savannah to hunt down some of the migratory herds that had simply skirted too far from the main route. And it had paid off.

He sat down to an early meal of wildebeest, only a small one, an adolescent really, but was more than ample for him. He'd either have to leave some for the scavengers or drag it back close to the bay. The bones would most certainly be good to offer to the sea.

Already a few birds were floating above and it was times like these Tamba wished he had a small companion himself, to chase off unwanted interlopers and lurkers. Perhaps he would befriend a bird one of these days...much more useful than a rabbit (his mind flashed back to the one rabbit who managed to escape his paws and teeth, and then boxed his ears).

"Hmmm hmm~" Akai hummed to herself as her eyes were locked onto the ground, her little yellow butterfly following behind her, surely on the hunt for something. She usually kept her antics to herself, but today she was ready for it. Today would be the day! She would find the perfect pendant for a new necklace. The last time she had wandered a little too close to the sea, it decided that it wanted the necklace. Heartbroken, Akai accepted her 'offering' was more important to the sea than it was to her, and had been on the hunt ever since for something to replace it. Every day had resulted in nothing, but she didn't give up. She wouldn't until she found the right thing.

Her nose twitched as it caught an unfamiliar, yet almost familiar scent. Hm. She sneezed slightly, her form shaking as she blinked away the shock. What was that from? She heard that if others talked about you you might sneeze, but she doubted that...there was just Wacheza who really knew her here. The rest of her family was off, gone.

She let her eyes wander up for a moment to make sure she was going the right way. Instantly, she froze. The little butterfly tried to land on her ear, but it didn't stay there long once Akai realized who it was.

"You....you're....!!" Oh no, oh no, what was she supposed to do now? She had assumed that she would meet him with Wacheza...this just felt much too casual!

It was amazing Tamba heard anything at all over his munching and crunching. First, there was the gentle sneeze, which only just grappled its way through snapping and sloshing and chewing noises to reach his ears. He'd stopped, perked his ears, then dismissed it as 'hearing things.'

But he couldn't very well shrug off the appearance of a lioness. And she looked petrified. Confused, Tamba looked around and even behind him to find the source of her fear.

Finding nothing definite that might cause a lion to be stiff with fear, he turned back to face her, amber eyes big and curiously watching her.

"Are you alright?" he asked, concerned.

Akai did her best to not shake as she looked at him. Him! He was whom she was to talk with, nay, to ask for permission to live here. She was frightened of asking, if only because it would be such a huge change in her life. A real home, where she would stay! She yearned for Wacheza's warm form to be next to her, to encourage her to continue...so she slowed her breathe, and let her mind think just that. She could do this. She had to do this.

"H-Hello," she said shakily, offering a respective bow towards him. "I'm...I'm Akai..." Oh dear, what should she do? How should she do this? She took an extra moment to breathe in deeply. She couldn't screw this up, or she'd ruin everything.

"Wacheza...described you to me," she started again. "You're King Tambuzi, aren't you?" Her ears twitched as her tongue rolled over the unfamiliar term. She meant only the most respect for him, though.

"I've been meaning to find you...just here and now it's....very unexpected," she said with a shy, dry laugh, embarassed.

"Pleasure to meet you Akai," he replied politely, returning her bow as well.

It perhaps looked less formal than usual on account of the carcass he was sat at and the blood around his mouth. The need for propriety hadn't dawned on him yet.

"Oh I know Wacheza," he said with a smile and in that chatty sort of way. "Just recently asked about being a healer actually, hope he's finding it alright. And yes, but I generally don't insist on all the formality, not with Tamu doing more and more for the pride these days."

Now it hit him that he was sat amongst a dead animal and covered in blood as he had feasted.

"Oh I'm sorry!" he said apologetically as he stood up and started to nudge and shove the carcass out of the way a bit. He wouldn't be able to clean the blood entirely until he got back to the waters. "This is a bit of a mess."

Her ear twitched slightly when he mentioned lowering the formality. But...why? She tilted her head to the side just a bit, curiously gazing at him as she fought down the urge to ask. It would seem rude to ask so many questions to one's elder. Instead, she merely straightened herself up again, offering a nod of acknowledgement. "Yes, I understand."

Her eyes opene wide for a moment before laughing softly. "No apologies needed! When one eats, there's always a mess that follows." She felt...a little more relaxed right now.

Returning to the subject of Wacheza...was mildly embarassing. She knew why, but didn't know exactly why it was so strong of an emotion. "Ah, I know that he is well, and enjoying what he does."

She started to stammer again. "T-that's sort of why I was looking...for you. Not this right moment, but I was planning on....finding you."

"Me? Really? Well, how can I be off help Akai?" he asked, curious at first and then friendly as always.

He still insisted on pushing the carcass from between them, so at least in a strange way, the physical space wasn't littered with a dead animal. He could see her clearly, and she could see him clearly...and he was a mess! It preyed on his mind, even as they conversed, and he would nervously twitch a paw to his mane, or try to lick some of the blood from his lips.

Her ears perked up for a moment before she bashfully glanced around for a moment. Why was she so nervous? Probably because she was admitting something that she had never voiced before, except to Wacheza.

"Well...I..." Oh, hopefully she hadn't broken some rules in the past, but she wasn't going to hide anything now... "I've been living around your borders for a while, and befriended Wacheza. If...you know who he is..." She didn't know how prides really worked, if everyone knew everyone else.

"Anyway....well. I was hoping to stay here with him." She flushed. "And was told that it would be best to ask you, being who you are." She just...sort of took her time in doing so.

Tamba could have teased the poor lass some if he had wanted to, and he had done to others in the past, but she looked so very nervous already. It wouldn't be fair, or proper, to add to her misery.

"Of course you can stay here, no need to sound so nervous," he said with a smile but not a laugh. She had obviously worked up a lot of courage for this moment and for him to laugh now would just shatter that.

"And I think its wonderful that you've been making friends here already, Wacheza is a very pleasant lion," he added with a smile.

Her ears perked up quickly, but almost just as quickly they relaxed once again against her skull. Wow. Was it really all that easy? She watched him curiously, feeling anxious, but joyous as well.

"Really?" she asked, peeking around slightly, wondering if Wacheza had already said something to him about her. He was just...being so polite. As naive as Akai was of prides, she knew that not everyone was nice, or had to be.

She was quite grateful.

"T-thank you!" she exclaimed with a respectful bow. "Everyone I've crossed paths with has been very kind, though I will admit I've been spending most of my time with Wacheza..."

"You are most welcome," he said pleasantly and returned the bow. "If you need it, take a few days to settle in and choose your own den. You might have already enjoyed the Sea's hospitality and swam in her waters, but be sure to observe the rites when you have strength. Then you can be truly blessed by her."

"Oh, oh yes!" She knew about the Sea, and it's need to welcome her. Hopefully...hopefully a storm wouldn't brew up. She didn't want to live through one of those again. Hopefully She would welcome Akai warmly, as Wacheza had mentioned it could be.

"I will be sure to do that," she said with another bow, a little sloppier and quicker this time. "The Sea has my utmost respect."

Oh, how she couldn't wait to tell Wacheza, though! Almost as an afterthought, she wondered why she had been so petrified to ask for a home in the first place, within the pride. Everything was so...sweet.
