Asmo'koka quietly looked around his little ears flat back against his head. He had been testing the ropes trying to see how far away he could get from his siblings and mother before being called back. He wanted to explore, and surely because mother was so adament about him being close there was some sort of danger involved. While it was true he was also facing danger for disobeying he wanted to see what was past the next rise, what was around the next bend. It never even occured to him he could get lost in the endless sea of sand.

His black and red form stood in stark contrast to the sand around him and the bare dry patches of earth. He lowered his belly to the ground and quietly began to stalk away from his siblings, he was oh so sly.

Lilim might have held her mother's high regard for being so much like her, but she was still restricted by the rules she applied to all of them. Which annoyed her to no end. She tried to get more advantages for being a little clone of mother, but it didn't work. Perhaps her manipulation would work best on her siblings instead.

Speaking of which, from the corner of an ember-coloured eye (the only thing she received from the father she knew nothing of), she spied her darkest of brothers trying to creep out of the den. Looking back to her mother, preoccupied with her four other siblings, she crept over to Asmo'koka.

But she didn't raise the alarm. Far from from it. She put her paw gently on his tail, as if to symbolise holding him in place.

"Where are you going...?" she whispered, one eye always on the action deeper in.

Hmmm, now what were they up to. Baal'esh had caught sight of his siblings, tail tip twitching, piercing red eyes narrowed. How very interesting, sneaking off from mother, breaking the rules, they were certain to be in for trouble when they were discovered.

Another cub might have tattled, watching in twisted glee as they were caught, snickering at the punishment they received. Not that the thought hadn't occurred to him, a smirk crossing his maw at the thought, but such an act would have been no fun, not when there were so many more entertaining games to play.

A cautious glance at his mother, the white cub sank against the sand, creeping on his belly, his small form blending into the desert as best he could. (if only he had seen that sideways glance from his mother, cubs, how foolish they were to think they could truly hide).

Quietly he snuck, hiding behind a rock outside the den, sneaking a few more paces toward his siblings whenever he dared, when he thought he wasn't being watched He was going to scare them both.

Asmo froze as he felt the paw on his tail and the words of his sister. He looked up and her and huffed as he attempted to move his tail from under her paw. "None of your business!" he said after a moment and sighed, he knew better than to think that would work. He eyed her carefully, what story should he weave. Surely she was going to trot on back and tell mother what he had been doing.

"Just going for a bit of a walk." he said with a shrug as if it was not big deal and not the adventure he had painted in his mind. His ear flicked, he thought her heard the sound of paws against the sand but as he tried to peer past his sister he didnt see anyone... he frowned. Something was afoot.

He bristled at his sister suddenly and sprang to his feet. "who do you think you are anyway, Momma?" He huffed and turned his head away from her. "Besides you are out here with me now so...if you tell you tell on yourself." he said in a matter of fact tone hoping to cut her off from running to go and tattle.

Lilim looked at her brother in his feeble attempts to lie to her. Yes, he SHOULD have known better. For a start, girls were generally better lie-detectors. She stayed silent until it looked like he'd finished talking, just looking at him with sharp amber eyes.

"What makes you think I was even going to tattle? I want to go too," she replied, so cool and calm that it was a little frightening really. So young and already displaying the fine art of misdeeds and sneakiness.

Excellent, they hadn't seen him yet. Oh the wicked smirk that spread across his maw, tail twitching against the sands like the serpents he so tormented. Red eyes narrowed, glowing against his white pelt, filled with thoughts of wicked mischief, biting his tongue to silence his snickers.

kekekekekeke

Creep, creep, creep, stalk, kekeke. Flat on his belly against the sands, Baal'esh crept toward his siblings, sneaking, slithering across the sands, freezing where he lay when he thought they were watching, creeping forward again when he was sure they weren't. Oh how well he blended against the desert, there were certain advantages to being white, advantages his very red brother would never share.

Just a little closer, almost there, a few more steps. There were so in for it, the predator was on the loose (if only he had a snake to throw at them). He sprung! Leaping to his paws to pounce, hoping to catch them both in his strike.

"ROAR!"

If only he were as large and frightening as their mother, or knew just how much like a squeak his 'fierce!' roar sounded.

The little red cub had known something was amiss but his sisters words shoved all those thoughts outside of his mind. He paused and looked at her for a long moment, she had something, some alterior motive for wanting to go with him. He just knew she did but he couldnt place his paws on what it might be. "alright then, you may come with me... But if you wanted out why didnt you strike out on your own?"

Something pulled at his mind too late to grab his attention, all of a sudden a white ghost sprang out in front of him. Asmo jumped and when he landed puffed out his chest and attempted to smooth his fur back down before the others would notice. He had managed to stiffle a yelp and was proud of at least that fact!

Disapointment filled him when he finally saw it was his brother, yet another sibling following him. His delusion of being a stealth master fell like water around him, well that only ment he would have to practice harder!

"What are you doing here?"

Lilim's smile at her brother was small but definitely creepy. One of her favourite tactics - being able to psychologically affect your opponent before any fight even began. Her little victory was short lived though, as her other brother decided to make his presence known just as she was about to reply to Asmo's questions in more disturbing rhetoric.

She jumped a little, evidenced by the lifting of a paw as if to stifle a scream. The scowl on her face afterwards though was enough to melt stone.

"You call that a roar?" she said viciously and after a pause, waiting for silence so her words would have maximum effect.

That wicked smirk spread across his maw, a satisfied snicker. Oh how he delighted in watching his siblings jump, and though they tried to deny it, he could see that moment of fear in their eyes. Beautiful, delicious fear, someday they, as all creatures, would learn to see him with terror.

"You think you could do any better?"

A snort, Baal simply stuck out his tongue, taunting his sister. She got her way through insults, intimidation, well he wasn't falling for it. She may have looked the most like mother, but she was certainly -not- their mother.

He sat back on his haunches, licking one paw as if planning some great evil scheme, his posture cold, she wasn't going to get to him. But oh, perhaps he could get to them.

"If I didn't know better, I'd think you two were about to disobey mother. What a shame it would be if she were to find out."

Trouble? He had been in trouble before, and while he was not stupid enough to not respect (and fear) their mother, whatever trouble he faced would have been worth it to see his siblings in trouble as well. Such a malicious little beast he was.

Amso reguarded his brother with a scowl. All his plans where coming to ruin, he flicked his tail, even now he didnt want to give up and trudge back into the cave. Doing that would certainly mean trouble...and if he was going to get scolded or worse from their mother he was doing to make sure it was worth it.

"You two can stay here and chat if you like about trouble and roars but I have other things to be doing."

His red eyes settled on his brother, the newest interuption. "You can come along if you like, but I will understand if you dont want to.. After all you said it yourself. Shame if momma found out. "

He turned back to his sister and blinked, her expression was amusing only because he wasnt on the reciving end. "Your face might stick that way... "

Lilim's scowl grew even worse, but in the blink of an eye, had melted away back to a more elegant cruelty. She could have a wicked temper at times, a trait she'd inherited from their unknown father. But a temper was weakness, and she wasn't weak. She didn't want to be weak, the very thought! It disgusted her.

She had to pick her words carefully. Already, he white demon of a brother was as skilled and malicious as she. It did make her wonder sometimes if they had all been born programmed for cruelty, and the thought actually made her smile.

"She's not going to find out, is she?" she said in measured tones. "You heard Asmo, you're welcome to come along and see what there is to see. Mother won't find fault in us being so industrious. Shows good character, good traits for future soldiers, warriors...maybe even leaders..."

Lilim, master of spin.

A snort, Baal rolled his eyes, a smirk on his own maw, seeming intrigued at first before twisting into something more wicked.

"Save it, Lil, I'm not interested in your games."

Manipulative little b***h, as if he was going to fall for her tricks, he knew better. Hmph, she could save her games for those who cared, he did not appreciate the insult to his intelligence.

He had risen to his paws, stalking around his siblings, tail twitching malevolently, pausing to stand behind his brother, a moment of dark laughter.

"She might, she might not. I wonder which of us she would find first."

It was far from a question, his voice chilling, words spoken to unnerve his brother, the obvious answer to the question. He and Lilim were white, blending into the desert, while Asmo being red, well, he had no hope of hiding. Ah, but was Baal going to call mother? He wasn't telling, not yet, maybe he hadn't even decided yet, he just liked tormenting his siblings.

If only they knew, mother was always watching.

Asmo glanced back and forth between his siblings, his mood growing darker by the second. They where wasiting his precios time, time he wanted to spend exporing!

"Enough." he said, he had had enough of their games. Of the two he thought he perfered his sister in this moment, at least she had been willing to truck along with him off into the sands. No doubt she would have spin a tale to pin it all on him later but she would have explored first.

He shot a look at his brother, and shrugged his shoulders. "Do as you want. I'm going." he said, and spinning around he began to set off. "ghosts of the sands you two my be, but I'll take my woopin after I see whats out around that bend."

Lilim had to be careful, if she kept pulling that same poisonous sneer, her face would stick like that. After thinking of a carefully worded and well-timed response, she listened to her other brother. He was right. Games were fun, but if they were to see anything, they'd have to get going soon.

And he was right also that she would no doubt say it was Asmo or Baal's fault.

"You can at least have one phantom look after your red arse," she said as she caught up to Asmo's side.

Fangs showed in the smirk that split his maw, a dangerous expression that would become the terror of desert creatures. A mocking laughter, chilling, cold, an eerie sound echoing that of his mother before him, of her father before her. He walked in a stalk, small talons extended to slash at the earth with his steps, the footsteps of a demon.

He was not going to pass up the chance to torment his siblings, to taunt and take great pleasure in their reactions, to always keep them guessing at his true intentions. His infuriating calm amidst their rising fury, oh the pleasure it gave him.

And when they were caught (as they certainly would be), it would not be him who took the blame. As they stupidly wondered how she had known, how she always knew, he would only smirk that evil grin. Had he told, they would never know.

Foolish cubs, if they thought they had not already been caught they were greatly mistaken. Mother knew, watching them through narrowed red eyes, tail twitching against the sand. They would not get far before a familiar roar would echo in there ears, a roar they would quickly learn not to disobey, a roar that would come to haunt their dreams.

Mother always knew.
