Helki had begun her day like any other day. She'd rise from her slumber amongst the ferns and trees of one of the small islands. Taking her breakfast not far from the beach though some days she'd scour for ripe berries, depending on the season, spring was a decent time for most. Summer made for better fruit.
Then it was into the skies she'd soar on two pairs of large feathered wings. The wind flowing through her mane. She'd pivot upon her wings and turn her tail to change directions.
Higher she went into the sky before turning on her wings and hovered over the sea. Tilting downward she folded them close and plummeted. At the last moment she'd unfurl her wings and soar above the waves, then taking to the sky again. Spiraling up. Untamed. Wild. Free.
This was the life of a Airion. A winged kirin. A subspecies of kirin that seemed rare to Helki as she had only met a couple. First her mother and now Embri. And then there was her, for even Embri was in awe that Helki had two sets of wings. But to meet another winged kirin would make her heart soar too.
Helki closed her eyes momentarily. Hearing the wind whistling in her ears, feeling it flow over her. Sensing it all around. The sky was her limit and it didn't not limit her much as she soar high over the sea. She was heading towards the main land. She wished to explore it more and maybe meet Embri again.
Finally opening her eyes Helki began to descend and headed towards the beach of the main land. Upon getting closer she flapped her wings more and put out her hooves and landed upon the sand. She folded her wings close and shook out her mane before trotting along the beach and then up onto a grassy bank and gazed about, first for danger, then other kirin.

The warm sand felt great against her fine fur. It really was nice to get out of the trees every once in a while. After all, she loved her woodland home, but constant chill of the shade was fun to escape sometimes. It might not have been sunniest of days, but the cushion beneath her made up for it without a doubt. Murring, the female stretched her legs. To the outsider, she must certainly look foolish, sprawled out like a beached fish. That didn't matter her her, however. The only reason she moved to get up now was because one of her sides happened to be baking faster than the other.
Jumping to a stand, Chloris shook out, sending sandy particles flying into the air in every which way. Her little dragonfly wings started buzzing, whipping the sand into a tornado of sorts before she ceased completely, allowing the grains to find rest again in the huge blanket they had come from. As she began to settle back down and give her other side a bit of time against the sand, something nearby caught her attention. Pale eyes narrowed ahead in time to catch the curl of a large wing not far off at all. Blinking, she abandoned her open spot in the near middle of the sand, following the sight up the beach, but still keeping her distance.

Helki stretched her legs after determining that the immediate area was free of predators and glanced up the beach and then down only to whip her head back around at the sight of seeing something green. Helki took a step forward and looked closer only to realize it was another kirin and she blinked.
"Hello?" she called out to the green kirin who appeared female but she wasn't so sure yet. "Hello? Are you familiar with this area?" she said. Helki took a couple more steps towards Chloris very intent to find out who this kirin was and if they were friendly.

Oh! Chloris startled just a bit, not expecting to hear the other's call, at least not so soon. And yet, something about it relaxed her soon afterwards. The one calling out certainly didn't seem dangerous or anything of the sort, not that she had really been thinking of such a thing. But the idea of company was nice, either way. "Yes, hello!" she called back, her little wings buzzing again with a slight excitement, legs working to close the gap between what was quickly becoming another female Kirindae. "Me? Uhm." Trying to settle, the femme shook her head, although it probably still wasn't clearly visible. "No, I don't come here very often..."

Helki was eying the other mare's wings with some curiosity and then looked up into the mare's eyes. She tilted her head and smiled. "I live on an island and it wasn't til recently that I finally left to explore this huge world." Helki took a few steps closer to the green femme. "I'm Helki...what's your name?" she finally asked.

((I hope you don't mind me joining in! =D)) Maion yawned softly, the cave he lived in was high in the mountain region just how he liked it, overlooking the sea. He had always had a fascination about it, a pull that kept him close to it, especially at night when the stars shimmered and danced above like a ballet. He flapped his mighty wings, stretching and flexing his muscles as he prepared to take flight in search for food as hunger had took hold of his stomach. Leaping from his cave he took flight, gracefully gliding on the gentle breeze, he yawned again, closing his eyes for only a second, when he opened them again he spotted two beautiful looking mares below him. One like the forest, caressed in greens and blues with what appeared to be insect like wings. The other larger with white wings, a soft golden glow setting of her white flesh. Interesting.... perhaps his stomach could wait? Lowering his pose he changed direction towards the two mares. He landed on the ground near them but not too close to come across as intimidating, for he knew he was large in size. To announce his presence he lowered his front leg into a gentle bow and spoke, "Hello fair ladies, I hope you do not mind the intrusion! My name is Maion."

((i hope you dont mind i join too hehe)) Hirondelle pranced on the shore behind some driftwood. This was one of the first times she had gotten away from Coquille's protective watch and she was enjoying every minute of it. She did regret not taking Marisol with her, however. The washed-up remnants of a tree provided a wondrous playground for her. A Benu hopped up onto a branch of a large section of the water-logged tree and chirped at Hirondelle. She looked up at the Benu and laughed at it. She moved closer to it and hopped onto the trunk half-buried in the sand. "Name...for Benu.." she said, thinking. The Benu moved closer and pecked gently at Hirondelle's ears, which flicked away. "Mer..Mercedes!" she said happily. Mercedes kept a vigilant eye on her, but her head also darted back and forth, tilting this way and that. She flapped her wings when she caught sight of three adult kirin. Looking in that direction, Hirondelle almost slipped off the trunk. But she stared curiously at the three strange kirin. They all had wings. Hirondelle only knew a few other kirin, but she always thought herself the strangest, with wings on her back and a small, feathered tail. She ruffled her feathers. She still didn't know how to fly, as there was noone to teach her. Daringly, she lept off the trunk and walked a few steps towards them before hesitating. Mercedes glided down beside her. ((even though i posted this when she was still a foal, she will still have no knowledge of flight, but there will be changes in her speech and actions and such))

((I don't mind. :0))
"Nice to meet you. I'm Chloris," she answered quickly, smiling in a disarming way, something that was mostly likely due to naivete over experience. "Welcome to the area." She had never really thought about life across the ocean, having never been able to fly. Her wings hadn't grown as large as her father and sister's and had, to her dismay, proven unable to support her weight. Ah well, they were good for those hot summer days and whipping up a nice breeze.
Her maw opened again as she looked for more conversation, but before she could say anything, a dark figure approached the edge of her vision. Pale eyes shifted and her head followed just in time to catch his bow. "Hello..." she greeting, her voice coming out slow at first. But the unsuspecting expression she wore quickly shifted into another friendly smile.
"I'm Chloris." She certainly didn't mind introducing herself again after such a short while. It had been a long time since she hadn't been alone. Still, she cast Helki a slightly concerned glance, not knowing the other well enough after a mere introduction to understand how she would react. "I certainly don't-"
Something behind Maion caught her attention. It had been the flutter of red Benu wings at first, but the creature had landed at the hooves of another Kirin and Chloris pursed her lips to keep from smiling cheesily. "I don't mind," she continued to the male, though her eyes were still on the now hesitating female.

( yay! More people! ....tho to make mention....Helki is a rather petite mare and I'm having to post from my phone. )
Helki had smiled at Chloris and was about to say something til a large winged stallion landed introducing himself as Maion. Not far behind him was a hesitant mare with a strange creature with her. Helki side-stepped and looked rather nervous but inclinded her head slightly the sun catching her crystalline antlers and sending a spray of mini rainbows to dance about.
"I'm Helki.....lovely to meet you." She flashed Maion on a grin. This was so neat, more winged kirin. She flicked her prehensile tail and once again peered around Maion at the dark mare and her feathery bird friend. "If you don't mind me saying" Helki began for those near by to hear, "I am not familiar with the main land....I come from one of the small islands from across the water. It will be lovely to make friends whom I'd have something in common with, like wings." In response her wings fluffed slightly and she opened them up. First one set stretched out and then the second set followed suit. Helki wiggled them a bit and smiled at the other winged kirin.
She looked over at Chloris and folded her wings back quickly. Looking over at the other Airins she said, "I don't have to be fearful of you do I?"

Tapping her foot shyly, Hirondelle looked at the group. Two of them saw her! It was too late to run away now, after all, what would they think of that. "Time to be brave, Mercedes!" she said quietly. Then she trotted towards them. Perhaps...one of them could teach her to fly. She twitched her small tail and her head was a little low, cautious of them. Mercedes scuttled behind her, chirping all the way.
Were those wrappings...bloody? A little fearful of the stallion, she stopped a little ways off and lifted her paw. Looking from him to the white and gold mare, they contrasted so greatly. What an odd meeting.
