Physical Description: Dusen is a small spitfire, standing at a meager 5 feet. He has the potential to be taller, since his older brothers hit thier growth spurts late, but it is unlikely to be very much. His hair is wavy, a dark sandy brown color, and appears to be forever wind-tossed from an early lifetime upon the seas of Pern. He keeps his locks cropped short – if a bit messily – about his ears, a habit that he’s maintained since his fishing days; it’s just so much nicer than wet hair sticking to the back of your neck and getting in your eyes while trying to haul a net of packtail over the side of an ocean-tossed boat. His eyes are a surprising color of amber and are always sparkling with either amusement or temper. He has several scars on his hands from handling the fish they caught, packtail cuts don't always heal well.
Personality: On the outside, Dusen is a confident young man, full of eagerness and enthusiasm for everything. He tends to be very friendly, and a big flirt, and seems to have trouble comprehending that there are people who would prefer quiet and solitude to his company.
He has become a little calmer since coming to the weyr, a little more introverted than he was on the ship. He's still getting used to the size of the weyr, and the amount of people in it; since both the ship and his families seacot had less than 30 people put together. Of course, once he does get used to it, he's likely to bounce back to being much more outgoing.
He doesn't like to start trouble, even though he has been in his share of brawls and fights from his time on the Ocean Runner, and doesn't want to ruin his chances to impress. He has every intention of standing until they kick him out, and even then, he's not sure that he wants to leave.
History: Dusen was born at his family's tiny seacot, the youngest of four boys. His father, a merchant seaman and captain of the schooner, Ocean Runner, brought the boy on ship as soon as he was old enough, and taught him the ways of the sea, figuring that he'd do just as good a job as if the boy was apprenticed. Dusen grew up on deck and in the rigging, learning the ropes as it were from the rest of the crew; not only seamanship, but gambling, pick pocketing, and knife-fighting.
He found a green firelizard’s nest on one of the beaches near his family’s home, when he was about fourteen, and stole one of the eggs, hoping it would hatch. He knew that there was a chance that it wouldn’t, but it did, hatching into a little blue firelizard. He impressed it, and named it Spring, and it has stayed with him ever since.
When he was 16, during a stop at Nerat hold to resupply the ship, there was a dragon on search there. Caught up in the excitement of seeing his first dragon up close, he was very surprised to find himself Searched. Dusen himself was a little reluctant to go to the Weyr, but his father convinced him that there was more of a future for him with the Weyr than there was aboard the Ocean Runner.
