User ImageThe strange male made his way to the forests edge, his one good eye glued to the stars and the waxing moon above him. A heavy sigh left his chest and he sat himself down carefully, making sure the stub he had for a right hind leg was comfortable. It sometimes made it difficult for him to sit back, but it never made much a difference that the wolf was missing a leg when it came to his natural movement of walking or running. Akinobu had been born without the limb and had been raised as though there was nothing different about him, so he learned to ignore the fact that it was missing.

But this small disability was not what caused him the most problems, it was the blindness he suffered in his left eye that hampered him the most. But even that he often ignored. The large notch out of his left ear never played too much of a role in his life, but it served as a reminder that he was still a disabled wolf. In his youth he had never considered himself to be any less than his siblings or any others, but he had been shown later on that no matter how much he had thought he was like the others, he was still a cripple and would always be so.

The stars above glittered away as the moon slowly ascended the dark sky, spring was well on it's way, but there was still a chill in the air that came down from the mountains. The smokey muzzle of the large male only continued to point upward as his eyes, one forever unseeing aimed towards the heavens. The wolf's mind questioning the mystery that lie within the stars. His starry pelt had been part of what had sparked his interest in them in the first place, he had been birthed near the time in which the two-leggers called Saimhain or All Hallow's Eve, the time in which the spirit world was thought to become more connected with the physical world in which he lived.

"The stars are brighter than ever tonight..." he whispered under his breath as though to someone who would be sitting next to him. But there was nothing and no one there. The wolf had been traveling in search of meaning to his life, and part of it he found within the stars, the other he was still unsure of.

A dark chocolate brown and orangey-brown wolfess moved through the forest, she was one of three pups born to her mother, Nelos, a fine wolfess, and daughter to the alphess, Kalia, and a strong blue brute, Lestat, son of the seer Meskeet. The young wolfess had lived with her mother, sister and brother in Kalia's pack all her life, and now she searched to find her father and other grandmother.

The stories of Meskeet was dark, but Maura wanted to know her other half, She looked to the partly tree limb hidden sky. The moon was bright even in it's waxing state, but it showed how she felt. Incomplete.

Strange how one could compare themselves to something so much larger then just one being. Maura was just one of many looking at the cosmos and she knew it, so many wolves looked to the sky for answers, and rarely was the answer given to them.

"Just like it should be," she murmured to herself, a lone, one wolf, one moon, but she also had another view on the night sky. It chased the day one so well that the dusk on the day before had been of a brilliant crimson color. As if the Sun and Moon had fought a bloody battle over who was going to have the sky, but like always the Moon won and the Sun laid down over the horizon.

The Moon wanted to share the sky with the Sun, it's opposite, but it rarely if ever could for the Sun loved to be the center of everything. Maybe just like the grandmother she seeked out, or at least in the younger years from Maura's understanding.

Aki's ears pricked suddenly, with his disabilities other senses as they often did heightened to try and fill the void of the areas that he lacked; in his case, his hearing and sense of smell were slightly elevated above the normal wolf's. He turned his smokey maw around scooting his rump a little to look better behind him. Though there was nothing that he could see for the moment, though this was no surprise to him as he only had one eye and his depth-perception was a little poor he had definitely heard something.

He nose twitched testing the air and there was a scent on the faint breeze, but he could not be completely sure of what he senses. He heaved himself up with very little troubled and peaked his way back into the very out lining of the wood. His one good eye continued to search while his ears flitted back and forth hoping the catch the sound again. Maybe it was nothing more than a rabbit or some other animal scrounging for one last mean. At this his mouth began to salivate, he wasn't the best hunter, but he did fairly well for himself seeing as he was a particularly large wolf.

He nose went to the ground scenting, but he did not smell pray, even with a wandering slightly further in he still did not catch anything more than old scents. He looked up and scanned the area around him, spotting nothing in particular and sighed to himself. But the noise struck him again, but louder. Ears perked he quickly looked around him, turning around on the spot, his hackles rising slightly with caution. "Who is there?" he called out into the dark trees, one thing he didn't like was being snuck up on, especially since he had a blind side as bad as he did.

Maura froze. She heard something in the woods before her. Sliding down into a crouch next to a fallen log, her fur blended magnificently into the dark wood that surrounded her at night. Her gray eyes locked forward while her ears flickered in every direction.

What had she heard? Another wolf? Possibly. Her tail was drooped and touching the ground, paws were locked into place. Was the noise a scout of a pack? Was it a pack? No...only one body was moving around the forest before her.

She wiggled down, settling into her position, she was taught how to hold a position for extended amounts of time, but then she heard the voice of one. It was male and it called out for an answer. Who was there?

Good question, she half hearted thought to herself before standing up and giving her reply.

Her voice, in louder quality, was very famine but was laced with her own caution. "Just a solitary wolfess." She called out to the trees around her, ears flickering to figure out were about before her the voice had come.

Aki's good eye darted around trying to find the wolf, he knew not is she were friend of foe, but a chance at company was never a bad idea. His ears perked for any sound, twitching about to see if he could locate her better this way. His depth perception wasn't quite so good with only one eye.

The three-legged wolf carefully made his way a little deeper back into the wood. "Are you friend or foe?" he questioned, and decided he best present himself as no a threat. "I am a friend if you want to call me that. I mean no harm, just a passing wolf is all." he called out keeping his tail high.

He might be at a disadvantage with missing a leg and only one good eye, but he still had tooth and claw and for him that was enough. He had living this long with his handi-caps why should they slow him down anymore now?

Aki may have blended with the sky above but here in the lush wood he stood out a fair bit with his star-speckled coat and leaf strew paws, the flame tipped tail and the Pentacle that stood on her forehead. He would be easy to spot, by maybe not...

The smoky maw was the first thing she saw as the blue starry male came through the trees. His oddly marked forhead got her head to tilt to the side, the leaves on the male's...three legs was something else to tilt the female's head.

There was a slight remorse she felt for this male, never had she seen anyone missing a limb or with such intense coloring. Yes, her siblings had some blue upon their pelts, but she had lived with a rather natural colored wolf pack.

Wiggling back up to a standing position, her gray eyes looked at the male, "I am a friend, too, I guess." Maura wasn't much into fighting. Which probably would get her killed if she couldn't get herself hidden before an enraged attacker got to her.

Moving cautiously, Maura got out of her small hiding place and tipped her muzzle to the male, "I'm Maura, and just passing on my own, as well." Never killed anyone to state their name...had it? "What is your name, Friend?" the word chosen for that was what he had given.

A slight smile spread across Akinobu's muzzle. "I am called Akinobu, or if you wish you may call me Aki." he said dipping his head in a hello. With only the sight in his one pale colored eye he had a little trouble making out Maura.

"So a wanderer yourself. Is there someplace in particular you are headed?" he asked tilting his head in hopes of catching a better view of the natural-colored female. When he was finally able to make her out he figured his own appearance must be odd to her, not only from his odd fur colorations, but his missing back leg and torn ear.

"Do excuse my oddness...I must seem so odd to you." he laughed at himself, giving his tail a faint wag. He had never really found himself to be odd, but over time after leaving his pack family he had discovered that some did not take to his difference too well, resulting in at least one of his loses and that was the portion of his left ear.

Looking at other's differences was something her mother and grandmother had growled at her over. She knew about others, brightly colored, evidently her grandfather had been a bright blue and white male, and her father or grandfather, she couldn't remember, had a pelt that was littered with scars as well.

Her gray eyes moved, and head snapped back into being straight, as the male gave his name. She then took note of the male's tattered ear and his blind eye as she moved closer, just a little closer.

"Akinobu," she said his full name, and gave a light smile. At his question of her heading, Maura had to think about it. "In all honesty, I don't know where in particular I'm headed, I just know I'm looking for another with dark brown fur, but yellow eyes without pupils." The description she had of Meskeet her grandmother that was suppose to be one of those rare seers.

"How..." at his sudden request of his oddness being pardoned, she shook her head, apologetically. "Oh, no. Not at all." she attempted as a soft and small white lie, which she was bad at.

"No reason to ask or even say that about yourself." Now she held a bit more firmness in her voice. "I'm sure I look rather odd, myself, to you."

Aki gave a small chuckle. "Then I do believe we are one in the same, searching but not quite sure where we are headed." he said, he was not just searching for meaning, but he had this aching in his chest that his younger sister was still alive, somewhere out there.

He sat back tilted himself oddly to compensate for his missing limb, the amount he did have of his hind leg stuck out a little to the side, but other than that he sat normally as any other wolf. "Not at all, if anything I find you quite easier to look at than myself. Not that I have the best sight anymore." he laughed at himself. It had been his own fault he'd lost the sight in his eye, but he felt no need to pity himself over his loss.

The starry male tilted his head thinking, he had come across many wolves in passing, never really spending more than a moment or two to utter a hello or to state that he was nothing more than a mere passer by through a territory. "I do not believe I have come by such a wolf or heard tell of such." he said feeling a little bad that he couldn't assist the female.
