We got lucky.
We had four days of 40+ heat (this is celcius) and then on Black Saturday (Feb 7 for the uninitiated) we hit a temp of 48. If I had to imagine what a post-apocolyptic world would look like it would be that day. It was incredible. First sign of flames on the mountain (about 5k where we live) we were gone.
When you look on a map that shows all the fires it pretty much circled the town where I live on three sides.
On the whole, 200+ lives have been lost and about 2000+ homes have been destroyed.
A town that I've visited a few times is just not there anymore.
But in the last couple of days it's cooled down dramatically. Only hit 16 today. Been pissing it down the last couple of days.
There's still a few fires going but they're all contained and as safe as can be.
It's good to be home. xd

I only have a rough guess of how hot that would be using fahrenheit (48C= around 120F? I don't have my cell phone on me to check...). Where I live, it sometimes gets to be that hot during the hot months. Thankfully, I haven't had any wildfires encircle the city I live in, lol.
Glad to hear that you're safe. My thoughts go out to the families that lost their property and loved ones.
