" Higher Rook you have to push me higher" Bishop demanded though her voice was light and filled with glee. It was spring, real spring with grass and bits of flowers popping up not fake spring with rain and slush and grossness. Their mother had let the pair go to the park while she stayed home with Andrea who was feeling sick today. Bishop missed having her other sibling around but it was fun here even with just Rook. Her younger brother was now older than her but he wasn't mean about it all all in fact he was pretty helpful most of the time.
Rook merely smiled and gave his sister a harder push on her next swing down toward him. It was nice to be outside in weather where he didn't have to bundle up quite as much.

Josh was delighted with the weather. The flowers were starting to grow, and the leaves on the trees were budding. He had walked to the park, with permission. He knew that if he hadn't, his mother would have a fit. That wasn't something he wanted to see-- or hear.
He spotted two familar faces and waved. "Hi Rook! Hi Bishop!" He said happily, walking towards his friends.

Rook looked up and smiled at Josh, both of them had grown since the last time they'd seen each other. The dark skinned boy was taller certainly but seemed much the same otherwise and just as cheerful as before. Less shy than in his younger moment Rook hoped he could actually befriend the other now.
Bishop waved with one hand, clinging to the chain of her swing with the other. " Hi Josh, wow you're bigger and your hair's longer" It irked the girl a little that everyone she knew was getting older and she wasn't , mostly though Bishop was just happy to see her friend again.

Josh frowned slightly as Bishop mentioned his recent growth. He hadn't realized it when he'd first seen them; but he was taller than Bishop now. He almost looked apologetic as he smiled at her. "I'm sure you'll grow soon." He said, before looking at Rook.
"You grew too!" He said, surprised. "How are you?"

The grey skinned boy rubbed at one of the Jewels embedded in his arm and smiled " I'm good, I've learned how to play the drums and I can walk on my own now." To be honest Rook was a great deal changed from when Josh had first met him. Though the boy had spent most of that meeting listening to the adults and looking at the statues and carvings made of ice.
Rook's tail wrapped around his waist as he stepped away from the swings and motioned towards the merry go round " We should sit over there so there's room for everyone"
" I'm Ok" Bishop said grinning as she hopped of her swing at the peak of it's rise, hovering in the hair for moment before falling to the ground her ankles hurting a bit on the impact. She might be annoyed at being smaller than everyone else but Bishop was for the most part a happy and energetic young girl and she hated looking weak. " Hey Josh do you use the sword a lot?" she asked curiously wondering if her christmas gift was being treasured.

"You play the drums?" Joshua asked, instantly interested. He was always fascinated by music. "I'm learning to play the guitar-- and sing." He said. He went to the merry-go-round, and sat.
When Bishop mentioned his sword, his face broke into a wide grin. "I use it all the time." He reassured her, pulling at something in his belt loop. It came lose, and he showed her the sword. "See?"

Rook sat cross legged with his tail wrapped around his waist still. He nodded as he listened to Josh talk " That's great maybe someday we could do something together, we could play music and Bishop and Kaimi and Galleai if she'll come could dance." It sounded like great fun really, a nice way for all the people he knew to gather and do something interesting, maybe they could even perform for their families or something.
Bishop had looked excited as the prospect of dancing but even more so when she;d seen Josh's sword clearly. Yes, the girl thought, he still likes it. " Cool, hey what did you end up naming it?" she asked curiously her headwings twitching a little in excitement.

Joshua smiled, he always liked to play music. "Sure!" He said. "I know Kaimi.." He couldn't remember if he knew Galleai. He frowned slightly, the name seemed familar.
He looked at Bishop. "I haven't really picked out a name for it yet." He admitted, "I've been calling it Anduriel. From one of the stories Mom told me.." He paused, wondering if she knew the story.

Ahh if Josh knew Kaimi too that was even better, it meant then that there would be less awkwardness between them
" That's still a really good name" Bishop pointed out, even if she had no clue how the heck you might spell it. " What story is it from?"

Joshua smiled, and shrugged. "I don't remember the name of the story, really." He told Bishop. "I don't think it was from a book. She just told it." He nodded as wisely as he could.
"So you know Kaimi, Rook?" He asked.

Rook nodded " Yes Kaimi is Bishop's best friend actually, they met before I was even born." The girl was a bit loud an energetic like Bishop but she was also kind and sweet which was important to him.
Bishop grinned " Kaimi gave me a brussle sprout for new years and it turned into a gryffin cat we named Check, he's sort food a cinnamon and cream colour and he likes to bite things and steal food." Nevertheless the girl was fond of the gift pet.

Josh smiled. "Kaimi and I played pirates in the park." He said, remembering the day he'd met her. He'd been able to cheer her up. He was still happy about that. He hadn't liked seeing her so sad.
"That's cool!" Josh said, interested. He'd never heard of anything that came out of brussel sprouts. "I always knew they were bad for eating.."

" They're good for you though, the non magic kind" Not that Rook liked the taste of them either to be honest. Still, it was a rule you had to eat your vegetables before you were excused from the table and so he did even if he hated them.
" We should spin" bishop said thoughtfully " Merry go rounds are made for spinning" and took much talking with no action left the girl fidgety.

Josh made a face. Rook sounded like his mother when telling him that carrots were good for his eyes. He liked other kinds of veggies. Just not carrots or sprouts.
"Let's spin." Josh agreed, climbing off the merry-go-round and grabbing hold of one of the steel bars. "Hold on!" He said, spinning it. When it was fast enough, he jumped on.

Rook held onto his metal bar tightly, he had no intention of being flung off the quickly whirling playground equipment. Still, it was fun and a bit like when they'd gone on rides a few weeks ago at the carnival; there was the same sort of jumpy tingly feeling in his stomach that was both good and bad. There was also a weird tugging as his body but Rook dismissed that, he'd been feeling weird tugging a lot lately and he didn't know why.
Bishop had locked her legs around the central middle rod of the merry go round and way laying on her back staring at the sky as they spun round and round. the young girl giggled as the sky and clouds and birds passing by became fragmented blurs.
