It had been a long journey. Mabaka had originally set out to keep an eye on the demon pride, but along the way she'd learned of a pride of Demon Hunters... And eventually, after discussing things with Uhuru, she'd set out for there. It seemed like the perfect place for her, after all. It was where she belonged, of that she had no doubts...

Uhuru followed his sister faithfully, keeping their journey remembered clearly in his mind. They'd seen much...and heard much. And because of that, Uhuru now followed Mabaka to a place that supposedly hunted those like Moricorm. He...well, he wasn't sure he would fit in, but Uhuru would follow Mabaka to the ends of the earth and beyond. And somehow find a way to live to tell the tale.

Moto stretched and yawned, finishing her patrol. She'd taken to helping out, keeping a wary eye out for her once-mate. She...she still hurt. But she just couldn't let go hope he might return...even if it was only to say goodbye. And that was all Moto'nyota wanted...CLOSURE. Pale figures in the distance caught her eyes and she frowned. What now....

It wasn't long before Mabaka could see Moto, and with a small smile she eagerly trotted closer, nodding to the lioness respectfully. "Excuse me, Miss. But do you know where I might find the Demon Hunters?"

Uhuru stayed quietly behind his sister, unsure what to make of the...VERY large lioness. She was scarred and very...well, he wasn't sure if she was intimidating or soothing. And it made him nervous.

Moto blinked and chuckled. "Why do you seek them, young halfling? They live a dangerous life, and you do not look full grown yet." They were not demons...too pale...too un-lion. The only halfbreed that might be among their number...Moto did not let that thought continue.

"I seek to join them. I lived quite a few moon cycles at the side of a young demonling who was seeking others of her kind. She tortured my brother and scarred my hide. I do not wish to let others like her exist in this world," Mabaka said seriously, looking at the lioness with dark green eyes.

Uhuru, thankfully, bore few of the scars from his time with Moricorm. The physical ones, at least. The ones upon his mind and soul...they would only fade, never vanish. "And I shall follow my sister, wherever that may be."

Hmmm...so they truly knew of demons. But...the male made her frown a bit. Blind devotion was not necessarily a good thing. "I do know of them. And they are near. But I must impress upon you the dangers they face." She sighed. "They are nigh guaranteed to die before their time. And even the youngest cub knows what lies beyond the shadows to the north."

"I understand just how dangerous fighting demons can be. At the most, the fights I had with the demon I spoke of always ended in a draw. I'm aware I could die fighting them, and I'm willing to take that risk," Mabaka said, turning to look at her brother with a small smile.

Uhuru nodded. "I...I am not a fighter, miss. But I understand the risks. And...certainly not all demons are evil, right?" That was one sentiment he was sure Mabaka didn't agree with...but it was what he felt. "Just as there is good and evil with normal lions...why not with demons too?" His voice grew a little steadier as he talked, growing more confident.

Good...they both understood the risks and....well. She hadn't expected that to come out of the shy male's mouth. She chuckled. "True, young halfling. Not all demons are evil, and...perhaps there is a place for you, because of that sentiment." The Mwezi shifted a bit, now looking every bit the leader she was. "I am Moto'nyota, young ones. I am the Mwezi of the Mwako'bi'Giza, and as it stands...you have passed the first test."

Uhuru blinked. A...test? They'd gone through a test? Well...this was turning out more and more like the stories their mother had once told them. "Uhm...thank you, Miss Moto'nyota." So...the first step was done?

Moto nodded. "I must ensure those who seek the pride know what they enter. Our life is not a kind one, despite the celebrations we do have." She turned and started towards the center of the pride, motioning for them to follow. "It is not often I see others like my own children...It is a relief to see there are others who can see past species."
