The moon hung full and low like a ripe fruit begging to be plucked before it's weight could pull it down and bruise it's tender flesh. Nightwing enjoyed gliding on nights like this, the moon was so bright he could imagine it held the rejuvenating power of the sun within it's soft beams. He only needed one more thing to make the night a perfect one.
Company, he needed company, and as much as he felt the desire to wrap his wings around another and share in the beauty of the night the company he longed for was not the usual carnal type. He valued his dear friend Maura over his flaming lust, he would rather have her by his side to glide with and talk to than any random female to sate his unsatiable desires.
He sighed and looped gracefully in the air before diving down to land with a splash in an icy stream. Perhaps this temperature of the water would help cool his feverish desires. He had to get the ideas out of his head, normally he reveled in them, but lately they seemed somehow wrong. He moved to float on his back his wings lazily paddling him in the water.

Maura walked, her wings wrapped around her like a cloak rather than a cape, doing a small ground patrol. Well, not really, she was just taking a walk and keeping an eye on the sights and sounds of the area. She had passed a small caravan she she was gliding, but they looked respectable and had settled down for the night, so she chose not to disturb them. Newcomers didn't always take too well to her kind. It saddened her to think that, for a very good friend of hers had been a human, but she wasn't one to deny the truth, no matter how sad it was.
She heard a splash ahead and walked more quietly, peeking around a tree at the stream and the maker of the sound. It was Nightwing, floating in the stream. She smiled softly at her friend, leaning against the tree a bit. Her cheek touched the bark and she was suddenly struck by a place she would rather have it be, resting against a strong, dark shoulder. She was by no means an overly-romantic or lustful female, but she was still female and a friend to one of the former and, well, it was no surprise that some of her rookery sister's girlish ideas rubbed off on her. That she thought of Nightwing in that sense was no surprise there, either, because he was attractive and charming and pleasing to be around. Any female would be lucky to have his attention.
Her normally controlled face reflected some of the thoughts passing through her mind, mostly within her eyes, for a small smile was all that graced her lips.

Nightwing sighed as he floated trying to relax himself, yet every time he managed to relax the icy bite of the water would fade from his mind and some new lustful image would pop up. He grumbled and adjusted his loincloth for what must have been the hundredth time since sunset.
"Come on Maura, get out of my head for one second..." He chuckled softly to himself, the thought of her being anywhere away from his mind was laughable. Since they had spent their nights together all he seemed to be able to do was think about her. Good things, bad things, and everything inbetween...he felt mildly ashamed for some of the bad thoughts. Maura was different, somehow his lusty images failed to amuse him, instead they bothered him.
If he had thought that lust was a gift before now he certainly saw it as his curse. He turned over and dove into the water his arms propelling him under the small falls.

Maura's breath caught at his words, surprised that she was on his mind. He seemed amused and troubled by this, and she couldn't help but wonder why. Was it because he didn't want to think about her? Or... Well, she really couldn't think of anything more. She hoped that she wasn't a burden on him, but her curiosity wouldn't let it go. So when he moved upstream, she followed, keeping mostly hidden. A part of her knew it was wrong to follow someone and eavesdrop, but... But I'm enjoying the view, she thought to herself as she stopped within cover again to see where he had gone.

Nightwing spread his wings and fought to keep above the surface even as the small falls pushed him down. He reveled in the brief struggle for a few moments before more of those naughty images found their way into his minds eye. What would it be like to see Maura under the falls the water pulsing down on her, her hair sleek and falling down her back. He groaned softly and moved to the shore shaking himself off.
"I need to get a grip before I see her again, or who knows what'll come out of my mouth..." He felt like some pathetic adolescent human male. Nightwing tried to picture Rose in his head, but the usual lusty thoughts actually cooled. He opened his eyes in surprise and looked down confused.
"Well...thats a first..." Not that he was going to question it, anything that eased this constant lusty state was just fine with him. Now if he could just find the object of his actual desire...err that was to say his dear friend Maura maybe he could actually enjoy this full moon evening.

Maura rolled to hide behind the tree, pressing her back to the bark when he emerged from the stream. How in the world would she approach him? She closed her eyes, a flush settling on her face at her childishness. She had been spying on him, and he couldn't stop thinking about her and intended to see her again and she had been listening in on him! Her head tilted back, her face towards the sky, and she shut her eyes, trying to settle her own nerves which were causing the blood to rush to her head, pounding in her ears to a point where she was starting to hear... not a whole lot over the nearby water and thumping combined. Her tail flicked against the small plants at the base of the tree in agitation, completely unaware of the action or the soft rustle it caused.

Nightwing grabbed his loincloth and twisted the material to wring the water from it. She gave one last little shake and smirked "Well that will keep me cool no matter what the evenings activities." He tried to push his hair back into some semblance of order but the dark blue strands were determined to remain ruffled.
"Wonder where she is.." He murmured softly trying to remember if Maura had mentioned where she would be on a night like this. No doubt she would be enjoying the peacefulness of the flower filled clearing. He wondered if disturbing her would be a welcome thing. He turned at a soft thump and rustle and twisted curiously to peer into the sparse trees.
His eyes narrowed at the shape of a swishing tail, had someone else been in his presence all along? He moved closer quietly wondering if the other Gargoyle or Garbeast had already noticed him or if it was distracted. He crouched low and pounced to grab the slender tail. "Gotcha!"

Suddenly something broke through the jumble of thoughts going through Maura's mind. Something had grabbed her tail and she jumped in surprise, gasping and hopping away from what had grabbed her. But with her tail in the hold of the male she had been so thoroughly thinking of, she lost her balance and toppled over. She was able to twist enough so that her hands hit the ground to help break her fall, but a sharp pain in her hands made her flinch when she hit the ground with an, "Oof!" She had a choice on whether or not to turn over and face him, but she felt her face and ears and the back of her neck heat up again, so she just pressed her face into the grass.

"Maura!?" Nightwing let go of her tail in shocked and moved to pull her shoulder tyring to get her to roll over.
"Maura are you alright?" He frowned at the way she had her face buried in the grass, what if he had hurt her? He lightly touched her hand and stroked her shoulder.
"Come on sit up so I can see if your okay..." He was still shocked to have found her right there of all places. It was like a dream come true, except he wouldn't dream of causing her pain or having her on the ground like this. Well...maybe having her on the ground...pinned...n-nonono bad thoughts. He quickly tried to focus on her hands and turning her over to make sure she wasn't hurt.

"Nonononono," Maura said into the grass, shaking her head back and forth a couple of times. She couldn't roll over, not with her face as red as it felt. If he saw that, he'd KNOW that she had heard a lot, she just knew it.
"I'm okay, just don't- Ah, just give me a minute," she added a bit more softly, taking a few deep breaths to try and get her emotions under control. Little did she know that in shaking her head, she had moved her hair about, displaying the edges of her blush on the back of her neck.

Nightwing frowned at her protest and as she shook her head her hair parted to reveal her neck. He couldn't help but lightly stroke the back of her neck and blinked at the heat emitted from her skin.
"Maura your burning up, come on now roll over so I can see if you hurt yourself, you fell pretty hard..." He pulled at her shoulder gently unwilling to force her up lest her hurt her seriously.
"Your not bleeding are you?" He asked in sudden concern. Was her nose bleeding? Was that why she didn't want to lift her head. "Come on let me see..." He stroked her hair back. "You don't have to be embaressed...I've fallen lots of times, and it was kinda my fault grabbing your tail like that...I'm sorry." He stroked her flushed neck.

Maura shivered when Nightwing stroked the back of her neck. Such a light touch and it made her blush worse. His concern for her helped, though. She was able to calm herself down enough to finally give in and slowly turn over. There was a bit of dirt smudged on her nose and her blush still dusted her cheeks, but other than that she looked just fine. "Ah, see? No harm really, just..." she kinda left off there and the blush deepened a shade. "Sorry..." she managed to say as she finally attempted to sit up. Her hands stung a bit and she laid back again, raising one hand to look at it in the moonlight.

He helped her sit up and lightly brushed the dirt from her nose before moving to examine her hand gently tracing her palm and frowning at the light scuffing. "You fell hard, I'm sorry..." He stood and lightly helped to tug her to her feet.
"Come on we'll wash your hands off over here and find something to wrap them up with so they won't sting." He lightly pushed her hair back into place his wing folding around her comfortingly.

Maura shook her head slowly. "No, it's my wrists. They just sting a little bit from the jar," she replied and she couldn't helped but lean into his side. "It's okay, it was an accident," she added and laughed a little bit, dipping her head. "Why am I so clumsy around you?" she asked in a hushed voice. She liked it when he pushed her hair from her face and when he wrapped his wing around her. Even if he was still dripping a bit from the water.

"Well come on let me at least wash them off" He chuckled and stroked her hair back. "I'm sorry Maura, I hope you don't think I'm a bad luck charm." He knelt by the edge of the water.
"What were you doing in the trees anyway? I was just gonna go find you..."
