One katydid...Two katydids...Three, four, five katydids...
"Ah." the cheetah remarked very quietly, without emotion. "I am surrounded."
The bright-colored insects were resting on the leaves of jungle trees that surrounded her. In her mind, there was no way out. But she stealthy, like an unseen shadow...Right in the center of the circle of trees. Her black coat stuck out like a sore thumb amidst the light greens and browns of the jungle brush. But in Midori's mind, black meant shadow. Shadow meant being unseen. And as far as the cheetah was concerned, she was invisible.
Eying the katydids carefully, Midori plotted her next move; her escape...Would she kill them, or flee?
Luckily (or unfortunately), someone made the decision for her.

Sellion's stomach growled loudly, sounding to him as though it was so loud, it echoed through the trees. And perhaps it did?
He bared his teeth, eyebrows knitting upwards in a look of frustrated uncertainty as he stalked through the thick trees.
The cheetah wanted food. When one got hungry, one ate. It was the nature of things. It was the nature of a cheetah. And Sellion was so hungry, he would've sworn he'd eat an entire herd of gazelle. But alas, the black and pink cheetah was no where near a herd of gazelle, let alone even one. He was in the jungle. How, he didn't know. Sellion could never remember how he had gotten to any given place for very long. His brain usually erased such memories quickly. They were unneeded in his overflowing mind.
Why was he in the jungle again? Again. He was always ending up in the jungle. Cheetahs didn't belong in the jungle. They belonged out in the open savanna. That was his place. It was where he was raised--well, for the first part of his life. But perhaps he was doomed to forever roam the jungle, getting caught in its vines and brush and tripping over its moss-covered logs...Eating its various flesh-covered animals, fruits, and...Hmm, katydids.
...Katydids.
Pink eyes flickering as they focused ahead, Sellion gazed upon a large, plump, multi-colored katydid. His face stretched slowly into a grin. One ate what one could, of course...Insects were good fuel, and sometimes tasty. One would be a nice--
...FIVE?
With a jump, the cheetah moved towards the katydids, slow and careful in his movements so they wouldn't be scared off. And one by one, he ate them.
It was only after he finished all five that he noticed the black cheetah standing right behind him.

Midori stared at the pink and black cheetah, head straight and eyes just slightly raised upwards in their gaze. Her teal eyes held no fear; no uncertainty. She merely examined.
The male had eaten the katydids that had surrounded her...He had taken quite a hefty mission off of her hands, and she was grateful for that. This cheetah had her thanks...And her debt. Indeed, she would have to repay him...But how? Hmm...After a bit of conversation, surely some sort of repayment could be planned out...She would just have to speak with him for a bit.
Unfortunately, Midori wasn't much of a conversationalist.
"...Good day..." the cheetah greeted, her voice coming out in a quiet monotone.
The riveting conversation that would result in that single statement was too much for Midori's imagination to handle.

Oh, my...A lovely, dark-colored cheetah lady...
Sellion grinned, chunks of bright green and red Katydid sticking between a few of his teeth. With a strange twitch, Sellion brought his paw up to his had and raked his jagged, unkempt claws through his mess of tangled black hair (as was a habit of his when first meeting a fine lady). Of course, this action, like always, only succeeded in making the hair even more of a mess than before.
Clearing his throat in a loud, obnoxious manner, and for far longer than one should ever clear one's throat, Sellion twitched his tail and introduced himself.
"It is a good day, madam..." he said in a low, husky tone, pink eyes shining seductively (though the look was more of a twitching, psychotic glare, but Sellion was unaware of that). "And a good day is made...gooder...by good company, as well. May I ask your name?" he said softly, smiling dashingly. "I am Sellion, soon-to-be-ruler-of-the-world." he introduced casually, raising a brow in a failed attempt to look more gentlemanly.

Ah.
How polite.
Midori was pleased to see that.
There was a short, brief twitch to the side of the femme's maw that, after some observation, resembled a half-smile. But it was brief, and then it was gone completely.
"I am called Midori," the cheetah replied flatly. "Though I have another name...But it is one I cannot tell freely..." The female took a few steps forward to get a better look at the male before her. Then she stepped to the side, crab-like, and disappeared behind a tree. Then after a moment, she reappeared on the other side of the tree, walking back in front of Sellion in the same crab-like manner.
It was one of Midori's best ninja skills...Surely it would show the male just a bit of what she was capable of. And perhaps it would help him decide in what way she could repay her debt to him?

Sellion's jaw dropped.
If it was able, it would've hit the ground.
The cheetah gaped, completely stunned and aghast; pleasantly aghast.
"You...Youyou...Y-you..." he stammered, claws digging into dirt and body sagging down slowly, slowly, until his knees were buckled and trembling beneath his weight. His eyes glistened with adoration and a huge grin spread across his black and pink face. There was a strange, psychotic gleam of something in his eyes; perhaps it was want. Like a child eying an ice cream store that just brought in a fresh new batch of every flavor of ice cream deliciously imaginable.
This female before him...
She had power.
Sellion wanted that power for his own. He wanted that power on his side.
He wanted that female.
"Secret name?" he whispered through his open-mouthed grin after a moment of staring, voice trembling with excitement. "Secret? Tell me. Tell it to me."

Was it possible for her debt to be paid off by telling him her true, secret name?
Hmmm...
No, it was not possible. That name was indeed a secret name. Secrets were meant to be kept. Of course, this name could be revealed...But only under special circumstances to special persons. Midori was not quite sure if this male, Sellion, was one such special person. In order to be in that category, he would have to be her employer; her trainer; her sensei.
He would have to be her boss.
Now, Midori had parted ways with her last boss on rather...Unsavory terms. Let's just say he's sleeping with the fishes now...But the cheetah wasn't going to let some past bad experience keep her from gaining a new sensei. Ninjas needed to receive missions from someone. What kind of ninja would she be without missions?
The direness of that last thought struck Midori like a swift blow, and she felt her mouth open. Maybe she should tell the male her true name? Maybe...She should offer herself to him? Maybe...He would be her boss? Hmm...
Decisions...
How Midori hated decisions.
"...I would offer my services to you if you were interested, Sellion-sama." the cheetah murmured in her quiet voice. "I could...Repay my debt in that way. If you accepted me...I would tell you my true name."

Sellion. Could not. Believe. His ears.
Jaw dropping even more, eyes gaping wider, and face stretching in an even broader grin (if that was possible), he fell onto his stomach, face planted in the jungle mud. And there he lay for several moments, body trembling all over and a giggle erupting from him every now and then.
Suddenly he sprang to his feet, quickly stumbling toward Midori until the two's noses were barely touching. His eyes sparkled and he flashed a white grin, ears standing tall.
This cheetah...
She wanted to be wanted by him.
She wanted to be his; his power.
She offered her services to him...She was going to be his soldier. She would be his to use for whatever he needed; she would be another fuel to his demonic fire.
Giggling in the female's face, Sellion flicked his tongue across his lips, eyes glittering. "I'm very interested...Midori..." he said huskily, still grinning. Whatever she said about a debt either went unheard or was deemed unimportant to Sellion. Having heard it or not, it probably wouldn't have mattered to him. He was far too caught up in the idea of an amazing-awesome-super-powerful cheetah female just offering her power to him.

If the closeness of their faces bothered Midori, she didn't show it. In fact, the slightest hint of a smile played on her lips and sparked in her turquoise eyes.
She was more than pleased that the male accepted her offer. And even more pleased that he seemed pleased. It was a pleasing time.
Tail giving a gentle flick, the female bowed her head slightly in some gesture of respect. This male was now her boss after all. He was no longer just another cheetah. Now, he was a special person. Now, he could know her true name.
"I am Midori-Koodori-Sennyo-Ninja-Kirei-Musume." she said proudly. Then she bowed her head even lower, forearms bending in a bow. "At your service, Sellion-sama."

Sellion sat down, dropped the grin, and smiled instead. It was a rare sight to behold. The male tilted his head and twitched the tip of his tail. His mood was lifted into a happy place.
The cheetah always normally appeared happy, but always, always, a dark cloud loomed over him; demons biting at his legs and flames consuming his mind in dark memories of his past that his subconscious tried to convince him were good things that he should be proud of. And his subconscious usually succeeded. It had to, or Sellion's mind would vanish completely. But now, any of those thoughts were gone, at least temporarily. Instead, his mind was joyously filled with the female cheetah who had just pledged her loyalty to him.
No one had ever done that before.
Sellion stood up and walked beside Midori, never taking his eyes off her. He was completely consumed with what had just happened. The entire situation overwhelmed him and filled his head with ideas of power and strength and world domination. Maybe he had developed a crush?
Claws digging into the dirt with anticipation, the male flashed a grin at the female and asked, "Well, my minion...Shall we go?"

Midori's eyes narrowed and she, too, smiled--if only a small one.
She was confident that things would be successful this time around; that no unfortunate occurrences would...Occur.
It would be quite an experience to work for this male, she was sure. She had never met anyone like him before. Whether that was a good or bad thing remained yet to be seen, but Midori looked forward to finding out, whatever the case. Her life would be different from then onward. No more would she wander in search of a place to go; of someone to serve. To top it all off, she would be able to repay her debt. So now, she was content.
Now, she was under Sellion's command.
Eyebrows raising in a very relaxed expression, the female replied, "As you wish."
And so the two walked side-by-side through the jungle, neither one alone anymore...At least for the moment.
