Draven looked at his reflection in the mirror; a handsomely rugged face stared back at him, until of course his eyes drifted to the scars marring the once perfect flesh. He looked away, ashamed of the deeds that earned him those scars. His eyes instantly found a new focus, the picture of his late girlfriend. Her smiled eased his pain enough to begin moving forward with the rest of the day.

Running a callous finger across his now clean shaven face, Draven shivered. The scars appeared much worse without the stubble covering them. His raven black hair was pulled into a tight tail that rested almost halfway down his back. His clothing was nothing to different from before; a black shirt, some blue jeans and a pair of biker boots, finished off with Daren’s black long coat. Draven knew Kyrin’s distaste of his previous look, so it was time to dig out some of the remaining items his deceased friend had left him.

Two gleaming desert eagle pistols were set deep into the holsters of Draven’s boots. A magnum sat in the waist of his pants; unloaded. As he moved from the hotel, he grabbed the rest of his meager livings and moved them downstairs into the lobby, “I’ll be calling for these to be delivered later, if no call is made. I will be paying for another night”

The bell boy nodded and eagerly took the money and scurried off.

Draven took that as his cue to leave, and pushed through the revolving front doors and made his way down the street, towards his meeting area. Draven’s walk showed a lot about his personality, despite his disfigurements; his walk was tall, powerful even. People walking near him gave him more berth than necessary. With shoulders back, and the long coat only enhancing his large frame, Draven looked imposing.

As he entered the building, a short while later. Draven was met by some men in suits who then guided him to the appointed area. Jaydn, he thought, it’s been a while. As he was introduced Draven entered and made a small and generally bordering disrespectful bow, “Sir”, he said with a hidden venom.

Jaydn looked up from his place behind the desk when a pair of his men arrived with a stranger. Examining the man, Jaydn was curious as to where Kyrin found him. He was an imposing figure, a person who definitely worked out. But Jaydn was looking for more than just men with muscles. The brutes had to have brains as well or they would be useless to him. And from the sound of disrespect that was lacing this man's words, brains seemed as if they were lacking just a little.

Jaydn stood up, walking around the desk and stopping in front of him, extending a hand. "Evening. Draven, I presume?"

Draven eyed the man for a moment or two assessing the direct threat that Jaydn could cause. With none apparent in those moments, he began to speak, “I am.” Draven spoke both clearly and stern, making sure Jaydn knew that Draven was not impressed, nor was he afraid.
He took a more casual stance then, however to the trained eye it was clear that Draven had a hidden weapon under the coat and was subtly getting ready to reach for if needed, “So”, his calm tone continued, “What do you need to know?”

Having been left hanging in his attempt at courtesy towards the stranger, Jaydn decided without a doubt that this man was indeed very stupid.

Pulling his hand back, Jaydn spied the concealed weapon. Remaining civil but not particularly friendly, he said, "Before we get into that, could you please disarm yourself? My men can keep a hold on your weapons while we speak."

Draven let a wry smile cross his thin lips before flicking his hand out behind his back and removing the revolver, holding it pointed at Jaydn for the briefest moment, then jerked his wrist letting the circular magazine to fall to the ground; empty, “foolish enough to show visible, loaded weapons. I think not”. Whether(proper spelling usage?) this was a threat, or a hint, would be up to the listener. Then gun then drooped, hanging by his finger till it fell with a metallic thud, “I’m sure I don’t appear the most intelligent man among your ‘associates’”, he said, a bitter edge to his voice, “I strongly suggest you reconsider any first impressions you may have of me”.

Draven with a smooth motion pulled off the leather long coat, and draped it over his arm, “Anymore requests before we carry on?”

If you could learn some respect for your superiors, you may have an easier time with this. It was easy enough to see, and perhaps understand the reason, that the mafia prince did not appreciate the subtle threat. Jaydn was starting to wonder more and more what it was that his cousin saw in this man. She'd never been so far off the mark when it came to recruiting men every other time before this. Was she drunk?

At a simple gesture from their boss, the men retrieved Draven's gun and left the two men to their meeting. Once the door closed and they were left to themselves, Jaydn swept an arm towards one of the armchairs that sat in front of his desk. "If you'd like to take a seat." Jaydn made his own way to his seat behind the desk. Once seated, he added coolly, "And I would appreciate it if you wouldn't project your own thoughts onto my integrity."

Draven gave a nod and moved into the seat across from Jaydn, throwing the coat over the back of the seat. He took the cool comment with a snort, “Enough of these games”, he stated, “I know we’ve never seen eye to eye, but I’ll be blunt. Assuming we have confidentiality?” His expression was unreadable, save his eyes which were about as dark and distant as a person could get. A person who had gone through hardships and met nothing but more hardships at the end of each long and dark road.

Jaydn raised a questioning eyebrow. 'We've never seen eye to eye'? Who was this man? He spoke as if the pair of them had known one another before but the man did not look familiar to Jaydn. Kyrin had mentioned it too, as if Jaydn should have known who it was he was going to see.

As to whether or not they had confidentiality, "I have no intention of repeating anything that's said between us. Say what you need to say." Perhaps as Jaydn let Draven speak, he would gather up enough clues to solve the mystery.

Draven took a deep breath before he spoke, it did little to calm the quiver the entered, “I have done many things, good and bad over my short years. I am no saint, that is obvious”, he paused to figure out how to word his confession, “despite my faults, I met a woman, a girl at the time really.. Kyrin. She took me in, knowing the violence I had wrought upon her and her friends. She sheltered me and my dear, dear friend Daren.”

The man look haggard, as if the telling was bringing him close to tears, “As time grew on, I—“, he let out a small cough and his expression steeled, “I grew to feel for Kyrin, more than I should have. Even now I care for her. However, I have done little to prove myself to be anything worth her
Draven let the memories flood into his mind, all the times before his initial departure. Those times tried to force tears into his eyes, but that wouldn’t come to be. With thoughts of his dear friends final words, Draven continued, “I went on a search for something, I wasn’t sure at the time but—but now I am. I must correct the wrongs I have done. Absolve the sins against Kyrin.”

Another brief pause was taken, not to enhance the effect of his words, but to gather again the steely fortitude needed to continue to hide his emotions, “Jaydn, I love Kyrin. I want to do whatever I can for her. This is why I am here; this is why I want back in.”

A flicker of emotion dashed behind his eyes before he brought forth words more akin to his personality, “I’ll make one thing certain for you, your decision here today means little to me. Whether I am aloud entrance or not will not rid you of me. I’ll work the shadows to keep her safe. I owe her that much.”

As Draven began talking, Jaydn heard the familiar beginning of a drawn out tale. Can't he just get to the point? His focus peaked though once hearing his cousin's name. Listening to Draven, Jaydn began recalling more clearly this man. Once all the pieces fell into place, Jaydn was more reluctant, more so than ever, to let this man into the organization. You love her? I doubt it.

When Draven wrapped up his explanation for his presence that day Jaydn paused briefly before responding. "I'm sure your 'love' for my cousin has the extent of a child wanting something that he can't have but don't bother trying to prove me wrong. I honestly don't care, just as you don't care whether I want you working for me." Jaydn fixed his harsh eyes upon the other man, "If we can come to an understanding about that, then I think your meeting with me is pointless. Your loyalties lie with Kyrin. Discuss this with her then. But be sure of this. I'll be watching. You forfeit your life if you ruin my cousin in any way." Jaydn spoke with a quiet ferocity, clearly meaning his every word.

Draven listened to Jaydn. Once the annoying man was done speaking, Draven turned his back, and scooped up his revolver, "As long as your goals are aligned to mine, you can live. Do not cross me Jaydn." His voice was a harsh whisper, full of a promised threat.

Pushing the door open, Draven exited the room and with that their meeting was over, it was time to find Kyrin.
