I think we all have a specific way we like to set up our inventory before heading out into the vast world of Silent Hill, but let's face it.... Sometimes the way we like doesn't always work.
Personally, I carry the best weapon in my list of selections, I.E. the Rusty Axe whenever I get it. I also carry no more than 1 healing item. This opens up the other 8 slots for Key items and any items you find useful throughout the game.
I don't recommend being an item junky. Don't pick up every little weapon and item in the game just because it's there. I never use St. Medallions, so why would I bother picking them up? I return to my house frequently, though, so I may pick up all the holy candles I can get.
I can't think of anyone who uses the golf clubs, but there are a crap load in the game, so why bother picking them up? They usually break before you can kill an enemy anyway. If you're lucky you might be able to kill 2 enemies at most.
Now, assuming you've beaten the game before, think ahead before leaving the apartment. You KNOW what you need before you go, so make plans to carry what you need when you need it. Let's cut Henry a break from climbing in and out of walls all day.

if you have to have a good weapon, take the aluminum bat, it will knock out any ghost and keep them down.

HeroofAvarisix if you have to have a good weapon, take the aluminum bat, it will knock out any ghost and keep them down. The aluminum bat is good, but the rusty axe is better. You get the rusty axe about 10 minutes into the game from where you get the aluminum bat, but I won't doubt the bat's strength UNTIL you get the axe.

the axe is really good too. i just think it's a slight pain b/c you have to be real close to the enemy. with the bat, you have a little bit of distance.

Lol well unless your afraid of a possible slow dance, distance not quite an issue. Regardless of difficulty, the axe is stil stronger and will put the enemy down quicker. Id rather be close and friendly killing something quicker than at a distance where I could possibly miss after many swings and have to recover before it strikes at me. Also, when the axe, or any weapon, hits a monster, the monster will sort of flinch and recoil giving time for more swings.

thats true. what sux is those Gumheads will actually take your weapon sometimes and use it against you. Talk about smart monsters! You'd think the only smart ones were Pyramid Head and Walter

Really? I don't remember any gumheads ever taking my weapon.... creepy. Hahaha. Not saying I want to play again just to see if I can get my weapon stolen. xd Maybe it'll happen someday. It's only fair I guess, I steal their weapons all the time.
