Name: Brynne
Age: Seventeen
Sex: Female
Craft: Healer
Rank: Apprentice
Physical Description: Brynne's fairly average in most aspects of her appearance. For seventeen, she's a little on the shorter side, standing at around 5'4" with slightly longer legs than one might expect for a girl her height. Fair-skinned, Brynne isn't one to tan well - her skin turns red, not a lovely honey-brown like it's supposed to. She doesn't particularly care, though. After all, what does it matter what you look like? In Brynne's opinion, it's what's on the inside that counts. On the inside, Brynne's a very healthy girl, running around the Weyr being enough exercise to keep her slim figure. Her arms and legs aren't particularly slender, the subtle outline of muscles instead bulging through, showing her to be no pushover.
Deep, chestnut brown eyes stare out from her gentle face, lips being a pale, rosy-pink colour. As for her hair, thick, raven black hair falls from her head, contrasting with her pale skin. Due to this contrast, however, and due to the practicity of it, Brynne doesn't enjoy her hair being long, and so instead has cut it herself. Her hair falls to her below her shoulders, long enough so that it can be tied up if needed, but short enough that it doesn't get in the way when she does have it down. Brynne's hair is naturally curly, curling gently in a way she isn't too fond of, but lives with it anyway.
Personality: One word that most people might use to describe Brynne would be 'fiesty'. And she agrees with that completely. A stubborn, sporty, peppy girl who's only out to have a good time in life, Brynne's what most would call an average teenage girl in Pern. She's constantly racing around to eagerly complete her apprentice tasks, flirting with the occasional boy and cooing over the Firelizards. She's a happy, spunky girl who has an optimistic view on life and will often try to impress this view on others. Assertive and opinionated, she has thoughts and opinions on everything, and you'll have a hard task trying to convince her otherwise of any of her beliefs.
Practical to the tee, Brynne's well known for being rather down-to-earth. She'll always dress for warmth or the task rather than to look good, and knows what to do in most situations. Whilst not entirely intelligent, she does have a lot of common sense, and will always take the most logical route if she doesn't know the answer. She's fairly studious, and will always complete work to the best of her ability, studying hard in her apprenticeship. With a good sense of humor and an overall friendly personality, Brynne's a fairly well-known girl in the Weyr, though is always sure to keep her head firmly on her shoulders, having banned herself from floating in the clouds and believing she's more important than others. She's not, and she realizes that, and quite happily accepts it. She makes friends because she's a nice, albeit somewhat fierce girl at times and has the uncanny ability to just 'click' with people. Despite her stubborn, opinionated nature she rarely clashes with anyone.
But of course, everyone has their faults. Brynne can get extremely moody very quickly if things aren't going her way, and can deteriorate to a mildly childlike-demenour. She can be quite jealous, particularly of anyone her age or similar. If she gets this way she can act quite childish, crossing her arms and sulking in the corner. Brynne's usually quite good when taking jokes involving her, however, most often joining in. She enjoys making people laugh, and mostly finds that making herself look silly will achieve this best - and she doesn't mind making herself look silly. Brynne just wants to enjoy life and live it to the full, and most of the time she won't let anything get in her way.
History: Brynne was born into a fairly middle-class lifestyle - her father was a merchant, her mother a seamstress, both having also been born and raised in Istas Weyr. She was the second child in the family, the first having been her older brother, Lucien. Her mother was ecstatic to have a baby girl to carry on her talents of sewing, and her father was content that his wife was happy. However, it became apparent from an early age that sewing wasn't one of Brynne's talents. Her mother attempted to introduce her to a needle and thread, but it usually ended in tears with several pricked fingers, Brynne learning to fear a needle rather than use it to make beautiful clothing as her mother did.
The first five years of her life went by without any major events, her parents instead deciding to encourage her to find her own special gift. Brynne searched high and low, following numerous different Journeymen aqquaintances of her father, carrying out odd errands in hopes of finding something she was good at. However, it seemed none of it was meant to be. She tried writing in order to become a scribe, but her hands cramped after mere moments. She even followed a harper one week, but her hoarse singing voice meant it wasn't the profession for her. It was by chance that, at only seven years of age, she ran into a travelling Healer, and was instantly amazed. A year later, she was an apprentice in the art.
Whlst this was happening, Lucien - older than her by four years - had been an Apprentice Smith, working hard to become a Journeyman like his father. It was by chance that he happened across a Firelizard Egg at a market stall, paying a high price for the beauty. He brought the egg home, and within days it hatched into a beautiful green Flitt, impressing Lucien without a doubt. It was clear, even then, that the Flitt wasn't to be the strongest of beasts - it was smaller than one might expect even for a green, but the Flitt - going by the name of Alicia - was bright and curious, so the family didn't worry. It was through the Flitt that Brynne discovered her talent in drawing, sketching the Flitt on an almost daily basis.
It shattered the family when Alicia died of an unknown illness mere weeks after she'd hatched. A post mortem confirmed that her inner organs hadn't developed properly, meaning she appeared healthy on the outside, but as she grew her organs became unable to cope with the increased exercise. Brynne was devastated, but no-where near as much as Lucien. he became much more cold and distant - no longer the older brother she'd once known. It was then that Brynne really began to make an effort in the craft - so she could stop things like this happening to families again.
She flew through puberty, it simply being a blur of boys, hormones and mood swings. She grew taller and her sense of style changed, Brynne shaping nicely into a young woman. She's still as devoted to her craft as she was back then, though rather more knowledgable, able to make home calls by herself for minor ailments. However, she's still got much more to learn, and as such is eager to continue to expand her knowledge.
Pets: None, although she's quite good with animals in general, and befriends other peoples' pets with ease.
Other/Talents: Brynne has a strange talent, in the fact that she can draw very well. She's a budding artist, sketching constantly in her free time, yet sternly refuses to make a career out of it - she wishes it to remain a hobby, something fun she does in her spare time. Other than that, Brynne doesn't have many talents that make her stand out from the crowd, although she's a fairly athletic girl, with an athletic ability some may call above average.
