 Naming Your Firekin
[ Note that PRE-Febuary 09, these rules were not enforced. So if you have a firekin named incorrectly, it's alright. <3 Just be mindful of the naming connotations. ]
So! You've got yourself a firekin, do you? Well, your firekin is going to need a name! Since there's been some untimely confusion over how firekin go about naming one another, I present to you a naming resource page for all your firekin naming rules!
But first- when do I need a name?
-- If you are a rogue joining into the lands, you do NOT need a firekin name. -- If you are born into the pride, you DO need a firekin name.
Okay, cool. So what *is* a firekin name?
Firekin naming has been in-state for a long time. They must be related to Fire, Heat or the Sun.
Embers - permitted Burning - permitted Ashes - pushing it Lava - pushing it Desert - unsure (it's being discussed) Volcanoes - not permitted Charcoal/Coal/Wood - not permitted Demons/Hell - not permitted Gods/Dragons/Mythological - not permitted Anime/Tv/Any Fandom/Movie characters pertaining to fire- not permitted.
To make it short and easy, the actual name must mean 'fire'. It can not be the name of a Volcano/God/thing that controls fire. If you have any sort of question, do feel free to ship them over to the mule.
Anything not set as permitted on the list above should be checked with the mule prior using, to make sure it's okay.
Rules
- Firekin names MUST have some connotation to fire. - Do not "make-up" a meaning. ;[ - 'Double-naming' is allowed in the pride. So don't worry if someone else has picked your name! In fact, it's considered an honor. The firekin frequently name one another after 'famous' firekin from the past. Naming a cub a common name, such as Savitri, would be considered 'in honor' of whoever the original Savitri was in the pride's past. - 'Double-meanings' are allowed. Bastet for example, while the name of an Egyptian goddess, also means fire in another language.
Okay. So how do I cheat?
You may cheat a bit, and treat the fire portion as a 'last name' of sorts. IE: Phib'Moto. But the name MUST have some part linked to fire, and would be their formal name.
Characters may also go by nicknames.
