Zaafarani was still getting used to her new name of 'Saffron'. It seemed very... forgien to her. But they had inisted that she take on a name for the pack, so she had done it without complaint. It would have been too... difficult to make a fuss over something so small. She had only just been getting used to 'Ani' and now all the rules had changed. Again. She really wasn't used to all this change... especially with so many creatures around her. Such a large group... she hadn't seen so many dogs in one place since her old pack. Back when there were only wars to look forward to. But this pack was peaceful, and that was a relief. She wouldn't have stayed if she had thought she would only be doing more fighting.
Still, it would have been nice to see a farmiliar face. Perhaps to know that someone she had met in her time as a hermit was still alive. Or even if someone from her old pack was still around... but no. It didn't seem that way. She hadn't met another soul from her old home. She could only assume that they were all dead now. But perhaps she would see some of the other wild dogs she had met? A farmiliar face in all of the... chaos.
There was far too much of that. Chaos. So she stayed close to her den, enjoying the quiet for a moment. Good to get time alone, when she didn't have to put on a face... not that her face was ever any different really. She still had to work on the whole 'expression' thing.

He was older now and much wiser than the last time they had met. He had been a naieve kid then-now an adult with more sneer and snide comments hidden under his tongue. He was out to meet members of his new pack, excited and a bit dissappointed at the same time. What ever happened to not needing anyone but himself?
Then there was Nanu-but he kept pushing her out of his mind. She was gone now-taken by a stranger and impregnated with his spawn. This made his fur prickle a bit-but simply sped up a bit to distract himself. To get it out of his mind. Anything to get it from his thoughts.
He padded along-his brain churning out thoughts when a familiar scent cause his nose. He stopped, lifting his head slowly and inhaling deep. No... Was it?
He looked around. "Ani?" He said rather quiet and cautious... they weren't suppose to speak their old names out in the open like that...

Ani very nearly lept out of her skin with suprise when she heard not only a name she remembered well, but a voice she also recognized as well. Someone she actually knew? She turned and looked, blinking when she saw Gin. It had been... a while. He was certainly... bigger than the last time she had seen him. He had been younger then. It was good to know that he was alright, but he had seemed very sure of himself, even then. She wondered what he was doing there?
"Gin?" She said, her shock quickly melting away from her face. No expression stayed long, and any real show of her feelings made her feel uncomfortable and fake. She prefereured her nuetral blank expression. "Gin... it is good to see you. Do you live here?" She assumed that he did. Why else would he be there?
...Maybe he was there for the same reason she was. Just because. Gin hadn't struck her as the kind of dog who had wanted anyone else around. Like her. But she guessed that they had both changed over time... she had never seen herself in a pack again. These things just happened. He had even told her that most around his disliked him... she hadn't though. Gin was just different. Better to be different... most of the time.

Gin was pleased at her reaction-was that a bit of emotion in her face? He smiled, his eyes squinty as ever in his glee. He remembered her being bigger-but he had been smaller after all. He headed her direction instantly, his tail wagging behind him like a happy banner. His head was held high and confidently. So she was apart of this pack too? What a coincidence.
"Ani-what a surprise!" He said sweetly, his golden orbs barely visible behind his pale eyelids. "Yes. I am a story teller here. I am silvertongue!" He said proudly, puffing out his chest and striking a pose. He was by far, the best one he knew of. He opened one of his golden eyes enough so it could be seen-observing her. "I am guessing you live here too then! What a lucky draw don't you say? "
Truth was, he wouldn't have joined this pack if he didn't think he'd benefit from it in some way. If anything, it brought him closer to females and other wild dogs-a bit of a bonus he supposed. And recognition... what a lovely concept.

Ani noted that he seemed pleased that she was showing some emotion. She supposed that was a good thing, it was... improvement? Or whatever they would call it there, she wasn't sure. She still didn't understand a whole lot of the social customs either. Still a work in progress. Story of her life. But it was nice to see that her old 'friend' was still brimming with confidence. She had thought it was very becoming for him to be sure of himself, and let the world know it.
"Yes... a nice suprise. I didn't think I knew anyone here." Ani admitted thoughtfully, tilting her head towards him. "A story teller...? Ah... yes, I think... that is very well suited for you. Silvertongue... an interesting name... but they all are here... I think. They call me Saffron now... I am a Finder." She explained, supposing that would be the polite thing to do. "And yes... I am... still speaking with Wisdomchaser, but it seems this will be my new home soon. But it nice to find... a farmiliar face. Yes. Very lucky."
Ani's reasons for joining were less carefully chosen. In truth, she had gotten tired of being alone so often... and she hated to go out of her way to meet new people. And sooner or later she would get old, and she would be alone. It seemed logical that she should become a useful part of a pack so that she shouldn't die in a ditch where no one would remember her. Not that she was really that old, but Ani had been alone so long that she had plenty of time to mull it over. Still, it was nice to see someone she knew. Nicer that he remembered her name, and she his.

Gin was tickled silver by the changes he would already see in her. His tail ceased its wagging finally, showing he was calmed down now. "A very nice surprise. I haven't seen many of those I befriended from my younger days..." He said, he had been thinking of a fair few wild dogs he could care to meet again-but he would not think of it.
He took her new name into his head. Saffron. A finder. He smiled, glad to see she could also make herself a niche here too. Wouldn't that be splendid? He bucked his head slightly at her words. "Yes... yes.. very nice indeed!" He added
He recalled mentioning to her before that he was a loner and needed no pack-but those were childish and stupid things to think. He was grown now and much more certain of things. "I am really glad to see you are in a pack now-weren't you a bit of a loner last I saw you?"

Ani couldn't help but be interested in how different Gin had become. Or perhaps that was just a part of growing up? Or maybe she herself had changed more than she had thought? Who could say, really? It did seem like she was putting too much thought into it. "Indeed. Me neither... it is good to know that you have survived." Generally she assumed those she never saw again were dead. A throw-back from her younger days, she assumed.
She was glad he had found something he was good at... Silvertongue the Story Teller... yes, it seemed very appropriet. He did like to talk. She wasn't sure she could have done a job like that... no, far better that she be allowed to find things. She was good at that.
"Yes... I had been a hermit for some time." She admitted, still not caring much to disguise things about herself. She stull found that kind of thing a little pointless. Better to set everything out on the table if she was asked. "However... I decided that it would be a nice change to be around others... What about you? Still trying to show the world..." She tried to recall what he had said when last they had met, "...who you really are?" A pack did seem the best format for that sort of thing.

Gin was rather proud of his new position. He considered himself a rather good liar and a wonderful story teller; it was his profession. He had to admit it was nice to see her at a different level, both height and her change in personality. she was rather a hermit; wasn't she? He recalled her being so flat faced and straight forward... she was rather intimidating but noting seemed to phase him ever. That was his-other trait; among others.
He nodded. "It'll be different but a good change for once. I realized that a single life was one that I did not like-" Or benefit from. "-and when I heard of this place I had to join it. There is so much that makes sense... Recognition and all. " He said, looking thoughtful.
Then a huge smile crossed his maw. "Hey, what a funny thought. Recognition means we know one another's 'real names'.... funny... we know that about each other already! Ha" He shook his head. "Strange... I never thought I'd see you again... not that you can't take care of yourself..."

Ani didn't really take pride or not take pride in her new position. It was a job, and she could do it very well. It had been part of her training as a child, so it was good to know that she could make use of it now, when she had feared for a long time that she wouldn't be able to. Search and destroy had been her only mission in life once. Then it had been 'survive', and now she had search... but no destroy. She liked that a lot better.
"I came across it... by accident." Ani admitted. Well, sort of an accident. She had seen that there were a large number of dogs in the area, and had followed them, wondering if they were her old family. When they turned out to not be her old family, she had been entirely happy. Joining had come with that... somewhere peaceful that she could stay.
"Yes, it is funny I suppose." Or at least, would have been funny for someone else. Ani couldn't remember the last time she had ever laughed. Or if she ever had, actually. Funny, the things that got away from her. "Ah, yes I could... but it's always safe to assume that if you never see someone again, they're probably dead. I'm glad to know that you aren't. Dead I mean."

Gin could not help but smile his normal charming smile at her words. She was glad he wasn't dead then. Did that mean she actually thought about him when they departed. Course, he had thought about her too... being that she was one of the only creatures he met that was-well... worth remembering for good reasons. He was rather fond of her-almost as fond as he was with Nanu-who had broken his heart.
"And I am glad that you are not dead-or maimed-or seriously injured in anyway or form in which is present to me. " He winked. "And I think it is more like fate that we meet again Saffron." He said, winking again. "Out of all the packs and places in this world of ours, we meet again so long after we first had." Was it really that long ago? "And now... I am afraid you will have to be my friend forever... since we will see each other alot now." He chimed.

Ani tilted her head, wondering absently if Gin had something in his eye. He seemed to be blinking it at her a lot. But she was pleased that he was also glad nothing had happened to her. She was glad that she would know someone here, and she had liked Gin. He had been different than many of the others she had met. In her own way, she had come to like him.
"Ah... no. I am quite alright. It is quite a coincidence that we should meet again here of all places... Silvertongue." She would have to remember to call him that from now on. Still, it was hard not to think of him as Gin. But she didn't mind the idea of him being her friend... friends were important. "I am not afraid of being your friend. The idea is... comforting. I will be happy to see you more often." Ani told him, and she meant it. Getting to know Gin would be something she looked forward too... after all, he knew her better than anyone else did. In an odd sort of way.

Gin had to agree. He was actually more than pleased to see her again. But why? He hadn't ever been happy to see someone else in his life-but Nanu. But there was something about Ani that made him not want to be a jerk and be more nice and... what was he thinking. He had to sit for a moment in silence-gazing at her for most of that time. "Yes... quiet a coincidence Saffron. Almost-unusual... Considering what pack we joined..." He said rather thoughtfully. Was it recognition?
He remembered being told about it. How that their real names would be exchanged. Well-he knew Hers and she knew his. That was it right? Wow, did this really mean they were recognized. He would have to ask Risktaker. He looked side to side. "I will be happy to see you more often too... I don't have many friends!" He said. And for once, he wasn't telling stories. He actually did look forward to seeing her again. Alot. Weird. So not like him.

Ani had similar feelings towards the wild dog before her. She had never really felt happy to see anyone before. Actually, she had never really fely happy at all, but Gin had a habbit of... bringing it out of her. His lust for life was something she couldn't help but admire, and she was glad that she knew someone like him. And yet it seemed strangely ironic... peaceful even, that she knew his name when no one else did, and he knew hers. Someone who remembered who she had been before she joined.
"I don't either." Ani confessed to him, knowing that she was far too odd for many of the pack members to accept. Risktaker liked her, but she found it fairly safe to assume that Risktaker liked just about everyone he happened to lay eyes on. And pups seemed to like her because she always took the time to listen to him. But Gin was different... "But I will be very glad to see you more often. You are by far one of the most interesting dogs I have ever met."

Gin nodded his agreement. "I agree. I am actually, rather surprised at myself. I don't usually... well.. I am not the most kind and gentle soul and I usually don't 'care' about things like seeing someone again-" Except for Nanu of course but that was long ended now. "-but I am rather pleased at seeing you again. It is in truth-confusing for me. I haven't felt so happy about seeing someone again." He said, looking rather confused himself. He sat back and scratched his ear slowly, his squinted eyes even more tightly shut.
"I have to say... you are very interesting Saffron... But you have changed alot is seems. I rather like the fact you are open to new things now... to a new pack and such. It's... really nice-" He sort of stopped short. "-It's more than that.... It's fantastic. I can't believe I am in a pack now... with someone i can call my friend. It is astounding!"

"I know the feeling... I never thought I would rejoin a pack either." Ani admitted to him, sighing as she thought back on her own pack... her own long since ended affair. But this place was different. "I am also... not used to this. I am not the most social of wild dogs. I don't usually care about doing much of... anything. But I am also very... happy, I think, about seeing you again. Which is odd... because I normally don't like to..." Socialise, as odd as it was that. But Gin always had something worth saying. "But I like it here. And I like... that you're here also." She needed to sit down now. This was a bizar feeling. She wasn't used to it.
"Have I changed?" She mentioned thoughtfully, reflecting on herself, "I am glad to be... more open. It is easier to be around other creatures than to seek them out. And to have one I can call a friend is something... which I never thought I'd have." She looked towards him, tilting her head, "You and I... I never would have thought we would end up here. It is very... different. But I cannot say unpleasent."
