 I know. A totally bizarre question. So getting more specific, I make jewelry and I've learned how to make paper jewelry. This means things like stud earrings of little pictures or dangly earrings of little pictures with some beads. Examples:
I think I wasn't clear: I didn't make these.
Butterfly wings
Origami Penguins
Onigiri
So the question is: What sorts of things would you want hanging from or stuck through your ears?

Oh my god that is so cute!
I would probably tend more toward the studded example that you provided just because it's so freakishly amazingly adorable!!
But I also think that the butterfly wings are cool. not as much of a fan of the penguins. Dangly earrings aren't really entirely my thing. All of mine are for formal events.
Actually, I should repierce my ears. Those onigiri earrings make me want to do that. (:

Totally in agreement on Miss Chloie on this one! These earrings are super kawaii! Maybe we should look into getting some after pay day? 3nodding
As for what I would hang from ears, especially anything as long as it was cute enough! (aka ANYTHING ON THIS WEBSITE!) xd
I like the kitties, and the onigiri, and everything! So cute~! heart

oops!! I'm sorry if I was unclear!! I didn't make any of those. I found them and want to do that sort of paper jewelry. They were just to give you an idea of what I was talking about. (Etsy is a site full of amazing stuff though. All handmade!)
I'm looking for ideas of things (symbols, animals, objects) that you think would be fun or cute or cool to hang from your ears.
My friend is going to do the art and I'm going to do the assembling. I drew a silly looking dead fish to show her as a sample. (she has a graphic design degree so she's way better at art than me!)
I am thinking of making little paper cranes though. I have mini origami paper already and it shouldn't be too hard to glaze them.

I'll end up doing it myself though. With a needle. My ears close up quickly and I don't generally think long enough to put in permanent studs. That and paypal. I need to set up paypal...

For more elegant things, perhaps general shapes (stars, hearts, etc.) with the centers cut out and beads (like the metal ones Kathy posted)

You want a jewelry making tip?
Do you bend your own backs?
Because if you do, one very easy way to get the perfect shape of the ear from wire is to bend it around the stem of a wine glass. I learned that trick a few years ago. Someone close to me makes jewelry. I hope she doesn't mind me divulging her secrets! Lol, In the long run, it'll save you money, and you can do some fun designs even with just the metal work. smile

If anyone wants/cares about a guy's perspective on this matter, we usually like girl's to stay away from long, dangly ear rings for a couple of reasons. First, if they make too much noise or are really big we get distracted from looking at you and instead look at the ear rings. Second, when we go to hug/kiss/cuddle you we really don't want to have to worry if we're going to stab our cheeks with your ear rings. LOL
That's my input. Otherwise, anything funny or cute is sure to get a smile out of your man.

@Chloie - I buy premade backs. I've found places where I can get them cheap. (Joanne fabrics lol) Thanks for the tip though. I'll keep that in mind!
@Izumi-san - Noted! Another problem is that they get tangled in guy's hair. (or at least in my boyfriend's hair. It's long and curly lol)

Try throwing them at your computer screen. If your connection is slow enough then maybe your computer will misinterpret the signal and will send them thru the internet instead of sending the internet to you.
