Updates
03/08/2009 - Holly is brought into the world! In the meanwhile, FKT scrambles to get her journal up. Pardon the dust!
Rules
Pretty simple, I think, but just to be clear:
- Don't post in Holly's journal without the permission of FKT unless you are staff. - Don't include Holly in plots without first talking to FKT (I don't bite, guys, really, and chances are, I'd love to have Holly in your plot). - Don't be a douche.
Annnd, that's it. c: Other than that, enjoy!
It's not worth the hearing, you'll lose

The Hiccup, Holly
Name: Holly Age: 5 Gender: Female Species: Hiccup (Irish-American/Common Blue Butterfly) Notable Features: Blue Eyes, Freckles, a green lumpy lower half...you know, the basics. Likes: Greenery, Gymnastics, and Bright Colors Dislikes: Red Meat, Tall People, and the dark Abilities: Dancing the worm (;D) Weaknesses: Holly is especially sensitive to teasing about her appearance.
Traits from the Seasonal Attributes: detail-oriented, competitive, stubborn
Personality: Holly is beautiful and talented, but she already knows that you know that, so there's no need for her to brag. She's outspoken and bold until someone calls her bluff: at the end of the day, she is more submissive than dominant, and would prefer to go with the flow as opposed to taking a stand for something she believed in. She likes a good competition, so long as she knows she'll win it, and appearances are everything to her. Deep down, she's a perfectionist to the point of being self-effacing, but she won't take critique from anyone else, because other people are just haters and they obviously don't know what they're talking about.
Theme Song: "Our Lawyers Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued" by Fall Out Boy RP Font Color: Cornflower Blue Holly is currently: not feeling so good...TT____TT

The Spirit, Holly Aberdeen
Holly Aberdeen was ever the precocious girl, a ball of energy from day one. Unfortunately, she was a ball of energy for her single mother, who was left alone with a newborn at 22 after her would-be husband left for Vietnam and never came home. To give Holly an outlet to expell her high-energy levels (and also to give the poor woman a few hours to herself), her mother enrolled her in a gymnastics class, where Holly excelled. As she went on into grade school, she was never particularly good in any of the academic areas, but she continued to soar in her gymnastics career, winning medals and trophies left and right. And hey, with the 80s just rolling in, Holly predated the spandex phase of fashion with all her leotards and tights.
However, Holly's father had been a tall man, and just before her sophomore year in high school, she hit a growth spurt that, while not making her taller than the average person, made her too tall to compete in anything major. When told she could no longer compete, Holly took the news poorly, and looked for something to blame. She eventually decided that it wasn't so much a height problem as a weight problem, and that even if she was taller than the average gymnast, she could force her weight to be normal. And thus, her "dieting" began.
Holly's mother might have noticed the gradual decrease in body fat, were it not for her two jobs (and the attractive new manager at one of them). However, she did notice the increased crabbiness of her daughter, and one day commented that "she wasn't looking so good". Holly misinterpreted the statement to mean that she had been gaining weight instead of losing it, and redoubled her efforts with the use of pills. When she didn't make her school's dance team because she could hardly stand long enough to perform the routines, she refused to eat anything at all. A friend finally informed the local hospital, which forcibly admitted the emaciated girl, but despite their best counseling efforts and a feeding tube, one morning in late November of '86 her heart just stopped.

The Vessel, A Common Blue Butterfly
The Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) is a small butterfly in the family Lycaenidae. Male uppersides are an iridescent lilac blue with a thin black border. Females are brown with a row of red spots along the edges. They usually have some blue at the base of the wings and, especially in Ireland and Scotland, are mostly blue but always have the red spots. Undersides have a greyish ground colour in the males and more brownish in the females. Both sexes have a row of red spots along the edge of the hindwings (extending onto the forewings though generally fainter, particularly in the males where they are sometimes missing altogether). There are about a dozen black centered white spots on the hind wings, nine on the forwings. The white fringe on the outer edge of the wings is not crossed with black lines as it is in the Chalkhill and Adonis Blues, an important difference when separating these species, particularly the females.
It is Britain's (and probably Europe's) most common and most widespread blue, found as far north as Orkney and on most of the Outer Hebrides. Males are often very obvious as they defend territories against rivals and search out the more reclusive females. A range of grassland habitats are used: meadows, coastal dunes, woodland clearings and also many man made habitats, anywhere where their food plants are found.
It is widespread in Europe, North Africa and temperate Asia.
Recently, Polyommatus icarus was discovered in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada by Ara Sarafian. An amateur entomologist, he had been observing the butterfly from 2005 to 2008. He contacted the Canadian National Collection of Insects in Ottawa where the butterfly was identified as P. icarus, a new alien butterfly to Canada and North America. The butterfly seems to be well established and is extending its range from year to year (Source: http://www.entsocont.com/Newsletter_Dec_2007.pdf).
The main food plant on most sites is Bird's foot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus). Others used include Black Medick Medicago lupulina, Common Restharrow Ononis repens, White Clover Trifolium repens and Lesser Trefoil Trifolium dubium. Eggs are laid singly on young shoots of their food plants.
The caterpillar is small, pale green with yellow stripes and as usual with lycid larvae rather slug-like. Hibernation occurs as a half grown larvae. They are attractive to ants but not as much as some other species of blues. The chrysalis is olive green/brown and formed on the ground where it is attended by ants which will often take it into their nests. The larvae creates a substance called honey dew, which the ants eat while the butterfly lives in the ant hill. In the south of Britain there are two broods a year flying in May and June and again in August and September. Northern England has one brood flying between June and September. In a long warm year there is sometimes a partial third brood in the south flying into October.

The Guardian, Nyx Lunarum
Reference Doodle
Name: Nyx Lunarum Age: ??? Gender: Female Species: Starstuff (Unicorn manifestation) Occupation: Instructor at Durem Martial Arts Studio Notable Features: Blue skin, star freckles, pointed ears Likes: Sunny days, martial arts movies, and stir fry Dislikes: Gloomy people, real violence, and yogurt Abilities: Tai-Chi Blackbelt Weaknesses: As much as Nyx enjoys the daytime, she grows weak if she doesn't get a little time under the stars.
Personality: Nyx is thoughtful in a cooky sort of way, following a sense of logic that sometimes fits better in Wonderland than on Gaia. Ultimately she means well, but her utter lack of 'common' sense leads to many of her classes and life experiences go rather unconventionally. This makes her popular amongst children, but adults may have some trouble understanding her thought processes. Fortunately for the unlucky stiffs, Nyx has learned people skills by running her dojo, and as such has a rather well-practiced 'normal' routine that she uses whenever teaching a class older than teens.
Theme Song: RP Font Color: Nyx is currently: going to a butterfly farm! :3~
