Ahem. Kiche was fairly proud of himself lately. He did talk to someone outside of his father and...somewhat step mother. AND. It was a girl.
Of course, he really wasn't that proud of himself. It had been long enough since he spoke to her, and so everything that hd begun to open sealed shut again. Kiche once became the timid stallion that he had always been.
It was nightfall, and the starts were just starting to dance in the sky. Kiche knew better than to stretch his wings out in the dark, and they were folded tightly against his back as he emerged from the forest to the plains. It was weird, seeing nothing but grass as far as he could see.
He stepped out of the cover of the forest, feeling more and more shy with each step he took. He shivered, the crisp evening air creating a thin cloud of steam from his nose.
"Cold." And quite clear. His eyes gazed towards the sky, forgetting everything around him for a moment.

Eshara shivered lightly in the chilled air. It was deliciously crisp outside, and if she kept her mind off the temperature, she found it quite pleasant. It was only when she focused on the wind dancing around her that it became unpleasant.
So she thought of other things. The sky was clear and the stars were twinkling into view, spreading out to the horizon. They winked at her from their distant heights, watching the world below...
Ooh, that was a good one. Mentally storing that little tidbit, she chuckled to herself. Determined to be the next great poet, she needed to find the beauty in everything. Luckily for Eshara, everything seemed beautiful and charming to her.
Glancing back down to her more immediate surrounding, she noted a figure not to far away. Surprised and delighted at her luck, she trotted over. No thoughts that this figure could be less than savory entered her mind. She was always happy to meet someone new.
"Hello there!" she called out as she approached.

"Guh!" That...that came out of no where! The stallion's skin rippled as he started, nervously glancing around to try and locate the source of that voice. Great, just great. He got himself lost in the stars, and now here he was cornered! He had no idea what to do though, so he merely stared blankly at the mare before him, his wings shifted outwardly enough to mock some sort of defense mechanism. Only, it looked more awkward than anything.
"H-h-hello," he stammered out, finally. She probably thought he was some sort of idiot now, hm? While Kiche had never actually come across anyone who said so, he couldn't help but assume that they'd be thinking it. He had no idea what to do in...any sort of social situation, and every time he screwed it up pretty badly.
"C-Can I h-help you?" he asked weakly, trying very hard to act like normal. And failing.

On closer inspection, Eshara found herself looking at a rather nervous stallion. She had no clue why he should be so nervous. Perhaps he was afraid of the dark? An interesting idea, Esha found herself thinking. But if he were, why would he be wandering about at night?
"I spotted you while I was just wandering about and I figured I would say hello! My name is Eshara!"
Beaming at him, common sense finally flooded back into her brain. A worried look crossed her face.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I'm not disturbing you, am I?"
She had a bad tendency to interrupt others, even though she didn't mean to. She prayed that this wasn't another one of those times.

"Uh...um..." Uh wow. At least she was polite, not like that other mare he had met. She was the type to be all in your face! and just generally annoying, if all right in certain instances. Like, for a second. Okay, maybe he was being a little harsh. He needed to tune it down a little.
He shook his head feverently, the braids lashing around his neck as he answered. "N-no. You just.....startled me, that's all." Oh thank goodness, he was started to get a grip on himself. She was nice, like everyone else he had met. He needed to stop thinking that the world was after him.
"Just..l-looking at the stars. What are you...up to?" It was hard for him to engage in conversation, since that meant that you'd be talking to someone for more than just a minute. He knew that he needed to try, but it was difficult for him.
He glanced over at her, but the cover of the dark masked most of her features. What was visible was only through the growing moonlight splashing on the plains before them.

Eshara frown melted back into a smile as relief washed over her. She truly disliked being an interruption, and was glad to find that she had managed to avoid another problem this time.
"I'm sorry for startling you!" she said brightly. "I didn't mean to."
She glanced back up at the sky and the twinkling stars. "What a coincidence! I was just enjoying the view myself."
She sighed contentedly. "They're so pretty, aren't they? I could stare at the stars forever."

"Ah, r-really?" He didn't really expect her to say that. He looked at her again, but this time a little more...softly than so panicky. Maybe he really should...no. Not yet. What if he said something stupid, and she laughed at him? That was probably his biggest fear.
"D-do you know anything about them?" he asked, a speck of courage growing in his heart. Enough so that he let his wings relax at his sides, sagging just a bit. He let his muscles relax, and one of his legs felt a little stiff from how long he had kept it tense.
His golden eyes glanced upwards at them again, curiosity starting to take over moreso than the fear and anxiety. If he only learned to stop worrying, he would probably be actual good company.

Eshara looked over at her temporary companion, surprised.
"About the stars? Well, now that you ask, not really. I like to think they're watching us from way up there. What do you think they would think of us? We little, tiny figures down here?"
She often wondered about things like this. She never really truly got a concrete answer, but Eshara wasn't sure she wanted one. She enjoyed the mysterious feeling of it all. Mystery and intrigue were staples in poetry. At least, as far as she knew.
"Do you know anything about the stars?" she asked suddenly, curious.

"Aahhh, no, I don't really know," he said, but somehow he kept going. It probably helped that he didn't look away from the stars. It let him think that he was just musing to himself, and not actually talking to someone else. He did shift just slightly away from her, one of his back legs supporting the weird while the other relaxed.
"I just think that if there is anything on...those...that they see us like ants or something." He ruffled his wings as he settled them down closer, as if they were being put away for the night.
"That...kinda silly though." He shook his head, closed his eyes and looked down. Don't look, don't look. "I just think they're pretty, if nothing but a mystery.

Eshara beamed brightly.
"Ooh! I quite like that! 'If nothing but a mystery...' You don't mind if I borrow that phrase, do you?"
She glanced over at her companion who seemed to be avoiding looking at her. Perhaps she wasn't particularly good company? She hoped she wasn't boring him. Or was she the one making him nervous? She had been often told that she was too forward when it came to speaking to strangers.
Maybe if she wasn't a stranger he would be more comfortable. She was pretty sure she had told him her name, but he had never given her his.
"Er, I don't believe I even know your name!" she commented casually, hoping that she wasn't being too much of a pest.
