ok, I'll start the discussion with a question. What does agency mean to you? / What is the definition of agency?

Well, from my understanding, it pretty much means that we have our own will and can do what we want to, because we can make our own choices.

Well, we need it to make the decisions that we do in our day to day lives. Without agency, we wouldn't progress at all. We'd sink like a stone in the mud.

your good. but I was trying to get at that it's essential for the Plan of Salvation. and yes what you said is really true, that was what I was going to ask next.
Here is 2 Nephi 2:27 which is a great thing to consider when thinking about agency, especially the last part about Satan.
27 Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.

I definitely felt the Spirit as I read that. Hm... our agency affects a lot of different things in life. Going off the scripture, if we choose to do good and follow the commandments and try to align our will to our Father's as best we can, we get blessings and blessings and more blessings. We have have the privilege of having the Holy Ghost to be with us to testify of the truth, to protect us, and to help us grow and learn. But if we decide to do what we want, what society would have us do and the evil things of the world, we lose said blessings and what you could call 'our guardian'.

Yeah, that's all very true. and that was very nicely said.
Now let's think. The first time anybody had to use their agency was in the spirit world, and everybody here on earth made the decission to follow Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. How does knowing this make you feel?
I'll let you know how I feel on this one. It makes me so happy to know that I was willing to go with our Father and to stand for what is right. It is just a comforting feeling for me to know that I was able to come here and that I will be able to live with my Father in Heaven again someday.

I completely agree with you. Just thinking about it... in the future years, after living our lives out the way He would want us to live them, we will be able to live in the presence of our loving Heavenly Father, who's been there for us since the very beginning of time.
I like knowing that when both ideas were put forth, I went and stood with our Father and His Son, and the plan that was chosen. I'm glad I didn't sit on the fence or follow after Satan. Wow... I feel really good right now. I'm all warm on the inside. biggrin

Yeah, I am all warm on the inside as well. Well it looks like this is all the time we have. But here are a few scriptures to help you when you are thinking about agency (or writing a talk and need scriptures biggrin .)
Helaman 14:30-31
30 And now remember, remember, my brethren, that whosoever perisheth, perisheth unto himself; and whosoever doeth iniquity, doeth it unto himself; for behold, ye are free; ye are permitted to act for yourselves; for behold, God hath given unto you a knowledge and he hath made you free.
31 He hath given unto you that ye might know good from evil, and he hath given unto you that ye might choose life or death; and ye can do good and be restored unto that which is good, or have that which is good restored unto you; or ye can do evil, and have that which is evil restored unto you.
Doctrine and Covenants 58:26-28
26 For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.
27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.
Doctrine and Covenants 101:78
78 That every man may act in doctrine and principle pertaining to futurity, according to the moral agency which I have given unto him, that every man may be accountable for his own sins in the day of judgment.
