I've been trying to figure out if people actually have these when they sell at AA, do we need them? (Or are they only for those who make over a certain amount?)
I don't want to get in trouble with the law, but somehow this is never mentioned ANYWHERE in smaller cons' artist alleys, and I have a feeling that a LOT of people don't have one when they sell.

I know in California, you very definitely need one. I'm fairly certain this is the case for most other states as well, but you'll need to check the Board of Equalisation (Or equivalent office) website to be certain. If your state does require one and a seller doesn't have it, state officials could come in at any moment during the con and shut the AA down, AND the particular artist would get in trouble with their taxes.
Edit: I'm trying to research each state's laws and get a list of which require it. It might take a little while, though. ^^; Any assistance is appreciated.

I know some cons will ask you about your card once you registered, but small cons do a lot of illegal stuff sweatdrop just make sure you're not the one who's going to get into trouble.
