Zuberi laughed to him self as he ran threw the tall grass. He enjoyed having some free time away from his 7 siblings, not that he didn't love them all but being the eldest (even if it was just by minutes) was a hard thing to be. He stopped in a section of tall grass almost completely hidden from view. He had spotted someone! This was exciting he loved to people watch. The other dog walked about, she didn't seem to be up to much as far as he could tell.
She was yellow in colour, and he liked that. He thought her to be bold.
As he sat watching her he continued to figure out more about her personality. He figured she must be smart, and confident as she didn't appear to be bothered by anything around her at all.
He liked playing this game of figure others out. Even if he never had his suspicions confirmed or denied he would always assume he was right.
He continued to sit there for quite sometime thinking to himself.

Zaafarani was still getting used to pack life and everything that came with it. She didn't really understand having so many creatures around her... but she supposed she would eventually get used to it. Especially all the pups that ran around so... happily. She could never remember there being many happy children in her own experiences.

She was a little shocked when a little pup came up to her so boldly, but it did not show on her face. It was rare that she would show any emotion, actually. Still, it wouldn't hurt to speak with him... It might actually be more work to ignore him. "Oh... hello."

"HI! What's your name?" Zuberi asked bodly."My name is Zuberi-Sikio, or Zuberi, or Zube or Strongear depending on you ask... you can pick which ever one you like!" he half rambled to this older dog. He liked this older dog. He had watched her around the pack every once in awhile. He liked that she didn't seem to be bothered by those around her. He was hoping that they could become friends.
Zuberi didn't have many friends older then him. Zuberi wonder if this dog could teach him about others. She seemed to have lots of knowledge in her. Zuberi hoped to himself that she would share this knowledge with him. He loved to learn!

"Um..." Ani started out with, unsure of how to deal with such bold pups, but it didn't really bother her. Some dogs could be so round-about in their actions. It really did feel quite pointless to her. This pup was more direct, with no beating around the bush. That was... nice. "I'm Zaafarani... or Ani... or Saffron... depending on who you ask." She explained, copying his wording. It seemed he would likely understand that much.

"Are you from... around here?" Ani asked with her slow, steady tone of voice, checking with the little wild dog to make sure. She mostly kept to herself, and honestly didn't really care enough to take note of everyone she happened to meet. It wasn't out of cruelty... it just seemed like so much work for so many dogs. She was sure she would remember the important ones after she had actually met them.

" Yea I am from around her" Zuberi answered. He knew he has seen the older dog around the pack site before. He didn't blame her for not recognizing him, she did seem to keep to herself, usually around her den. To be honest he had been afraid to talk to her. He had been watching her for awhile, he was intrigued by her. She was so different. And she was older.

"My mom, my four brothers, 3 sisters and I are all members of the pack." he told the other dog. He felt odd not mentioning his dad, truth be told he didn't know anything about his dad just that he wasn't around, and had never been around. He knew what a father was he had seen other pups with there dad before, but to him there was just a mom.

"I am the oldest!" he bragged. He was very proud of being the eldest. And flaunted it when ever he could. He tried to be in charge of his siblings. He knew what was best. I guess you could say that he to the lead male role in place of his missing father. And that was fine with him.

"What is your job in the pack?" Zuberi was aware that the adults generally held jobs in the pack, had some sort of specialty. Zuberi didn't overly understand the practice, mostly because he didn't see himself as ever holding a job in the pack, there was nothing that he thought he fit at yet. But there was still time, he just wasn't going to worry about it yet. He just wanted to have fun now. And watch the others.. that was his favorite pass time.

"I see..." She said, tilting her head and watching the smaller dog thoughtfully. She didn't want him to be afraid of her, that didn't really seem fair since he had gone out of his way to meet her. She now recalled being vaugly aware of seeing him watch her... but she had dismissed him when she had realized he was a child. Just her military training being over-active, she supposed.

"It must be nice to have such a large family..." She mentioned quietly. She had never actually had a big family. Or she assumed she had, at some point or other. But she had never really known any of them. Their pack, when military, had always inspired total togetherness. No family lines were recognized, except by their leaders to prevent inbreeding. She hadn't known who her parents or siblings were.

She tilted her head at the boy, wondering why he would want to know that. Perhaps he was interested in joining up with a rank of some kind? She had no idea how that worked. She had just taken the job that she had the most experience with. "I'm a Finder... or a tracker... I find things when dogs lose them. Or when dogs get lost."

"Hmmm a tracker, that's interesting...." Zuberi said. Mostly to be polite he wasn't sure what he thought of the job. "Do you enjoy it? he asked, this time interested. Was it possible for the adults to actually enjoy there jobs or did they just do it to because they had to.

Now Zuberi began to wonder if there was actually something in the pack he could do an enjoy. After thinking about it he decided there probably wasn't unless of course there was a job in which you got to sit about and judge others.... he liked doing that.

"How long have you been a member of the pack." he asked, "Do you have any kids.... or a mate." Zuberi realized he was probably asking too many questions but he couldn't help it there was something about this dog that struck his interest. He hoped she wouldn't be to put off by him.

Ani looked down at the boy curiosly, "Being a tracker is... interesting. You're very good at finding things and I've always liked... finding things, I suppose. That doesn't bother me or anything..." It was better than fighting all the time. She could remember a time when that was all she had... but not anymore. No more fighting now. Better to just go about finding things instead.

She didn't know why the boy would be so insecure about this, but she didn't really understand everything about how pups... worked. Per say. She was still learning about these things. When she had been young, she hadn't had a choice in her job. She had just been told what to do and how to do it, and that was that.

"I'm... not long..." Ani said thoughtfully. She wasn't even technically a member yet. She just lived on the outskirts while Wisdomchaser made the most important decision of Ani's life. Or one of then many. She couldn't really pinpoint such things anymore. She had made too many choices. "No. I don't have... children... or a mate... or a family. I just... like here. I guess."

" I have been in the pack since I was born." Zuberi informed her. Zuberi knew of very little outside of the pack. Just of the few he had met when he adventured outside of the packs borders for short periods of time. Frankly he wasn't sure if he was ok with his lack of knowledge about the world at large. In an odd way it made him feel very insuperior a feeling he didn't often get as he always thought of himself as the leader of his brothers and sisters (whether they saw him that way was a whole other story).

The thought of his brothers and sisters made Zuberi think of the other thing Ani had said (yes he had finally decided he shall call her Ani, even thought at wasn't her pack name). She had no family, the thought of not having others around made him sad. How had this dog handled the aloness? He decided then that he would try to befriend this older dog... he just hoped that she would accept him in his youth. " You know it is ok you don't have a mate or children, now that you are becoming a member of the pack who knows the possibilities for you." He wasn't sure why but he felt a need to tell her it would all be ok.

"I see... that is good. To have a home where you can be loved... I think." A place where children could be children... instead of the childhood that she had known when she was a child. A much less pleasent one. Here she was certain that the children would be able to live happy lives instead of the horrific ones she remembered. "I'm sure you will be happy here... the rest of the world... is not always a nice place." She told him quietly.

"Oh... I'm not... worried." Ani said, hoping that the child would not fear for her in that reguard. She didn't mind not having a family, she honestly was a little happy that she didn't know who they were. She would have hated to mourn for them... but she had no faces for her parents or siblings. No one that she had to miss, because she had never had anyone. Here she could make a better life. Whether she would ever have a mate or children... only time would tell. Maybe some day. "I'm sure I'll have just as many chances to be happy as you'll have... maybe..."

The thought that Ani could see herself happy and with many chances of being happy made the whole world seem slightly brighter. He just wanted to see the god happy. He couldn't understand why her happiness meant so much to him, but for some reason it did. Although he didn't understand the reasoning behind Zuberi decided it was a good thing. The dog was special to him, in a weird way. He loved his mom and his siblings and he knew and understood that love. But this was different, perhaps this was the thing they called friendship.

"Ani where is your den?" Suddenly the pup was very interested in where this dog lived, he wanted to more about her. He hoped that she would be willing to be his friend. He was worried that she wouldn't want to be her friend, because he was no more then a pup and she was an adult.

Ani watched him curisoly. He was probably one of the oddest little things she had ever met, but she couldn't bring herself to dislike him. Partially because she didn't really dislike anyone, but also because he seemed to actually have some sort of interest her, which was odd, but fascinating at the same time. No one had ever really cared much, especially because she didn't actually seem to hide anything.

"Oh... it's just over there." She said, nodding over her shoulder towards her den. It wasn't a secret place really... but it was fairly far away from the others. She liked her space.

Zuberi looked over the way that Ani had pointed. He wondered why she would stay so far away from the others. She was a very nice dog. She could be a very popular dog in his opinion. Zuberi didn't understand wanting to be alone, he was all about being around others. He may not actually speak to them but he wanted to watch them. And if he was so far from the others he wouldn't be able to watch them and judge them.

"Ani why do you stay so far away from others? Zuberi finally decided to ask the older dog. He wanted to understand her... he had a feeling it would be difficult to completely understand her but he had to start somewhere
PostPosted: Tue Mar 10, 2009 7:34 pm

Ani froze up a little at the question. "I uh..." How to answer that? Especially to explain to such a young cub who didn't understand anything about wars and real life? It was so hard to explain and understand. She had lived it and she still didn't get it. "The place I used to live... made me... not like... being around others. For a long time. This is the first time that I've... wanted to care about other wild dogs. I don't really want to... be away. I just..." She tried to find the right words, but she didn't think she was expressing herself very well.

"To be alone is to be... different. And to be different is to be alone. Do you understand?" She doubted it, she didn't even understand, but generally this sort of thing just kind of happened. Self-expression had never been her strong point.

Zuberi didn't overly understand. He thinks it just meant that Ani was different, but that was ok wasn't it being different was a part of life. Everybody being different from each other just brought variety, spice to life if you would. Zuberi couldn't imagine watching others and judging them if everyone was the same.

Zuberi decided that he didn't care of Ani was different, he liked different. "I am not sure that I understand " Zuberi told her honestly. "But that is ok, either way I think you are a nice dog, different or not. " Zuberi was confident in his judgment, he usually was. He couldn't help be a bold pup he hadn't learned to be otherwise.
