Nataya was all smiles and sunshine as she made her way down the sidewalk, toddlers in tow. Of course, this wasn't much different from her usual demeanor. Still, this was going to be fun! Josh was coming over so they could help each other with homework. After all, two heads were better than one, so they should get done faster. She'd just picked Ginger and Zemel up from daycare, and was heading on her way home.
She paused at the corner of the street, glancing around as she waited. It'd be rude to go off and leave Josh to walk by himself.
Ginger blinked, looking up at her sister as they stopped. "Why? We not home yet." she said, tilting her head to the side. Usually, the didn't stop until they got home or until Zemel got tired. And neither of those things had happened, so....
Zemel was wondering the same thing, but was too preoccupied watching the cars zooming by to say anything. As pretty and shiny as they were, cars were scary. They were just so BIG and noisy! He clung to Nataya's hand, a frown forming. Sure, he saw the metal monster's everyday, and even rode in them on occasion, but that didn't help much.
"We need to wait for Josh." the fairy said, smiling down at her younger sister. "Remember? He's coming over today."

Joshua was smiling as he left the Liberty Center. He and Nataya had made plans to study together. This would be fun! Of course, he didn't think that doing homework would be fun. Spending time with his friends would make up for that. He hadn't seen Ginger and Zemel since they had gotten lost in the mall. He was looking forward to seeing them again.
He caught sight of his friends and waved. "Hi Nattie! Ginger, Zemel." He smiled at his two best friends, silently realizing that he was now taller than they were. Awkward! "How are you?"

Nataya smiled, waving to Josh. "Hello, Joshua!" she greeted, glad to see him. Then again, she was always happy to see people she knew. "Ready to get going?" she asked, offering another small smile.
Ginger frowned. That couldn't be Josh! Unless. "You grew." The little girl didn't sound too happy about that at first, then thought about it. Wait, if he was bigger....then if she and Zemel got tired, they both could be picked up! Perfect! A smile spread across her face.
Zemel blinked, looking up at the new big new person. "Josh?" he asked, his tone showing his disbelief. He hid slightly behind his sister, peering up at the older child, debating whether or not it could possible be his friend.
Nataya chuckled, looking down at Zemel. "Yes, Zemel, that's Josh." she said, letting go of the toddlers hand momentarily to ruffle his hair.

Josh smiled brightly, "Ready." He said. He frowned slightly when he realized he had to look down to have eye contact with his friends. "I'm sorry. I really tried to wait for you guys to grow with me." He said, looking sincerely apologetic as he looked from Ginger to Zemel. He hadn't meant to scare Zemel!
"So what do you want to work on?" Josh asked, looking at Nataya. "Music? Math? Art?" He asked, with a tilt of his head. Of course, he was the one who needed help with art class. It wasn't his speciality.

Ginger offered a small smile. "'S okay, Josh." she said, reaching up to pat his hand. "We understand." She nodded once; after all, she couldn't blame Josh for growing. He tried to wait for them, after all. And that was what counted.
Nataya tilted her head slightly as she started walking. "I think we should work on our math homework." she said, thinking about it. After all, they should get the hardest homework out of the way first. "Though, if you want to work on something else first, that's perfectly fine, too."

Josh smiled at Ginger, he was relieved she wasn't angry with him. He really had tried to wait.. But one night while he was sleeping... Well, this is what happened.
He looked at Nattie and nodded. She was right. Working on the hardest homework first would make the studying go by faster. "Let's do math first, then art." He said, nodding. After all, art was pretty hard.

Nataya nodded. "Alright." she said, smiling lightly. Personally, she thought art was challenging, but in the fun way. "We can figure out what to work on after that later."
"We do homework too!" Ginger said, smiling and nodding. If the bigger kids were doing it, they could, too!
The older girl giggled. "Alright; when we get home, I'll get some paper out for you." she said, smiling at the toddler.

Joshua smiled, and gave Ginger a curious look. Did she have homework? Really? He was silently relieved that his mother never sent him to daycare. And that was when he realized that Ginger didn't mean actual homework.
"You can help me with mine," He offered with a smile. "I don't know what to draw for art class." Maybe the twins could help him pick something? "Will your mom be home, Nattie? Uncle Vate wanted me to give her something."

Ginger grinned. "I help!" she proclaimed proudly, giggling. She really got to help with big kid homework! She couldn't have been happier.
"I help, too?" Zemel asked, peering up at the older kids as he spoke up. He didn't want to be left out of the homework fun!
"Of course you can, Zemel." the fairy said, smiling brightly. She then looked to Josh. "Yeah, Momma will be home." she confirmed, nodding. She then tilted her head, curious. "What did Mr. Vate get her?" she asked, unable to help herself.

Joshua smiled at his friends. He still felt awkward that he was so much taller than the friends he'd known since... well, he couldn't remember. "Sure Zemel." He said cheerfully. "I need all the help I can get."
Josh stuck a hand into his pocket, bringing out a silver chained pendant. "He thought she'd like this," He told Nattie. It was a princess cut sapphire, light blue in color. "He was too shy to give it to her face to face."

Zemel smiled. "Okays." he said, nodding. He got to help, too! "I make it pretty with col-wers."
"It's beautiful...." Nataya said, gaping in awe as she watched how the gem on the pendant sparkled and glittered in the sun. "I'm sure Momma will love it!" she commented, nodding. "Why would he be too shy, though? Momma's nice..."

Josh smiled at Zemel. "And maybe after homework, we can play a game?" He suggested. He really missed playing with his friends.
Josh looked at Nattie and grinned. "Well, Uncle Vate and your mommy are dating, you know." He paused, to explain. "He's shy because he likes her so much, he doesn't know how to tell her. So he turns red." He grinned at the memory, stashing the necklace back into his pocket.

Zemel smiled, nodding. "Okay!" he said, happy at the though. "We play Candyland, or Chutes n Ladders, or buncha ovver games!"
Nataya smiled, nodding, even if she still didn't quite understand the whole concept of this 'dating' thing. "Why doesn't he just say "I like you" if he can't think of anything else?" she asked, a bit confused. Adults were, you know. Confusing.

Josh smiled, "I like Chutes n Ladders." He said, nodding at his friend. He thought he remembered how to play; he hadn't played it since he'd grown.
"I think it's because..." Joshua paused, and frowned. "I don't think it works that way for grown-ups. If he said 'I like you' I don't know if your mom would like him back." He shrugged. "Grown-ups are weird."

Zemel returned the smile, nodding. It was settled; Chutes n Ladders it was!
Nataya blinked. "I don't see why it doesn't." she said, shrugging. Of course, she wasn't quite getting what kind of 'like' they were talking about, either. "You're right; they are...." she agreed, smiling lightly. She then thought a moment...Momma liked Josh's uncle, didn't she? They seemed to be friends, so she didn't see why he'd be so worried about admitting that.
