Like a silent spirit, Tavaris drifted through his homeland forests with a regal grace. Head held high, the wisdom of the woodlands resting like a tranquil mask upon his face, he forced that mask in place for the benefit of the creatures who looked on as he went to defend the woods.
Disturbing news had reached the stallion's ears, echoing across the expanse of forest on the tongues of it's inhabitants. As their guardian, even as young and untested as he was, Tavaris couldn't ignore the rumours. There were new soquili stepping into their lands, long of hoof and crowned with horns, with the fleetness and grace of the deer themselves. Many woodland creatures were afraid of them, afraid of the rumours that that these were simply another breed of Kalona and would hunt them for meat. When such rumours spread like wildfire, Tavaris had to step up and protect his forest.
Unfortunately his duty was the only thing keeping the young stallion from shaking down to his hooves. He was not experienced in fighting, and he was sure he would not be able to turn a Kalona away with his inexperienced words alone. But he had to do this, for those who depended on his protection, as fragile as it seemed to the young angenicorn. It was for duty he kept his calm mask and made his way towards the forest's outer boundaries, keeping a wary eye out as he walked headfirst towards a battle he was not prepared for.

Deciding it was time to go out on patrol again to make sure the area surrounding his people were as safe as he could hope for in this situation. Taking a deep calming breath Cheveyo steeled himself against his slight fear of this unknown place and headed out.
At first he walked slowly admiring the plants and listening to the sounds of smaller animals. As he continued he began to dwell on the information and new Cerynei friend had told him, she had spoken of firece creatures with sharp razor like teeth. Cheveyo remembered that she had said they looked as if they were used for tearing flesh. A shiver ran down his spine causing him to become more alert as he walked. Those monsters could be anywhere. If he could help it Cheveyo would keep them from the herd he would lay down his life if he must. He would keep them safe, taking another deep breath Cheveyo headed out further than he had been right into the path of the unknown.

Tavaris slowed as he approached the gradient of the forest boundary. He was as familiar with the woods as he was with the movement of his limbs, the way the thick old oaks and conifers dwindled to maples both young and old. Next would be the birch forest, it's floor thick with ferns and the occasional raspberry or blackberry bush. The guardian slowed his pace, listening to the woods.
He turned his head towards a distant sound, almost unnoticeable, but standing out in his mind as clearly as would the yip of a coyote. It was not in the tree canopy above, nor was it the scratch of little claws on tree bark or the rustle of something small in the underbrush. It signaled the cautious approach of something his size, or larger.
The young stallion gathered up all his courage and prepared to face the one who came through the forest. Hopefully it was only one of the infrequent harmless travelers and not something more frightening... Tavaris waited, still as the trees around him, until he saw movement. "Please be still and state your purpose. If you enter this forest with hate in your heart, you will not be permitted to proceed."
