It was done. Serafina had birthed his cubs, and he was extremely doubtful as to if he would ever see them. He would try, but for their sakes, he would not allow a war to be fought. One had been fought over him, and it had ended...in him being the way he had been. His children...The ones he could love with no strings attached...All but one loathed him. Hated him...or did not know he existed. He wandered past a tree he often visited, and for once, hoped his usual annoyance was there. Sure, he would usually walk past as fast as he could, but this time he stopped and sat down. He needed a distraction, and she could provide it...at least he hoped. She'd confided in him...now he hoped she'd let him confide in her. If she was even here.

Another day alone. Another day without her daughter. Another night where her dream had changed. Another performance of a violin. Brie didn't know what to do anymore. Everything was changing so quickly, and that was what she was always afraid of; Change. It was bad enough when she had kids, that was horrible but at the same time, she was never lonely. Then came Samael...Who apparently decided she belonged to him, the brat. Then...She lost them. Kyu left, then Samael. All she had left was Jennifer, who she hardly saw but loved dearly, Heaven, who was busy with her own kids, and Gaara...who hated her. What did she really have? Looking down from her resting branch, her eyes widened the slightest as Gaara sat down...and didn't move. Hardly believing it, She leaned down and swiped at his hair a bit playfully. "Hey, Gaa-Kun. What'chu doin' sitting here? I'm here you know." she teased.

He felt the ruffle of his hair before he heard her, but even then a smile lit up his face. Thank the gods she was here. "Hello Brie...and yes, i am fully aware that you are there." He said softly, reaching up to gently swipe his paw at hers. "Why don't you come and join me?" Already he could hear her questioning his willingness to be within 5 feet of her. What would he say, really?

Indeed, she was about to question why, but today she wasn't in the right mood to do so. Instead, she rolled off the branch to land a bit hard on her side beside him. "Nice to see you not running from me." she smiled before letting out a small grunt, she sat herself up, brushing dirt off of her beloved jacket. If there was one thing she hated, it was her jacket getting dirty. She could get her shirt dirty, her pants, her fur, but not her jacket. No. Looking up at the drifting clouds, she smiled gently, remembering the days when she would lay there and imagine her having a family with Gaara, back when she thought such things were possible. Letting out a soft chuckle, she leaned over and nuzzled his shoulder gently, sure that something was on his mind. "A penny for your thoughts, Gaa-Kun?"

Before he could ask her if she was alright, she got up. He had to smile, marveling at her almost-invincibility. He, and others, could push her away, but she always came back...like an annoying boomerang. But he had to wonder...had anyone caught her? "A penny for my thoughts..." he said mostly to himself, half to her. "Apart from me being a father, yet again, to children i will never see, The nights being cold and lonely...there is really nothing." He hated to sound like a weak, whiny child...but they were alone...who would hear him?

She could feel her heart speed up and the fur at the base of her neck prickle in anger. He had MORE kids? She had a pretty good idea as to how he had more, and that only elevated her anger. Her...fury. "HOW!? Why, Why aren't you able to see them!? Why does this keep happening to you, Gaa-kun? Why?!" She was on her feet and practically screaming. She wanted to find whoever it was that mothered his new children and rip her apart for doing this to him. It was bad enough that she probably..but then to not allow him to see them? To bond with them? To potentially have a -good- relationship with a child of his? Calming herself down, she took a deep breath. "What happened...?" she asked gently, sitting back down, as close to him as she could be.

He understood her anger. He understood how much she cared. He also understood that he needed to calm her down. If she ever confronted Serafina...He allowed himself a shiver as he couldn't help but picture what could happen. But as she sat back down, he pulled her a bit closer, into a small hug. "Calm yourself completely, then i will tell you. I know you too well, Brit. The minute i say something you don't like and you're still pissed, you'll run off to do who-knows-what. Calm..." he whispered loud enough for her to hear.

"I am calm...I think..." She snapped back before double-thinking. She hated that he knew her as well as he did. "Alright, Smarty McSmarty-pants, i'm not calm." she admitted, blushing a light pink. "But...can you honestly give me an example of a time when i was completely calm?"

"Mmmmm..." Seemingly thinking long and hard, Gaara absent-mindedly started playing with her earring. Really, he had never been around her...and her be -calm-. "No. I've never seen you calm, i'll admit. Ah well." Realizing his rather silly actions, he stopped and let her go. "I can only say what i know..."
He recited what he knew, stopping every once in a while to check on her expression and to adjust his fishnet. He didn't stop until he completely finished his story, and when he did stop, night was falling. Another night he knew he would spend alone.

As Gaara finished the explanation, it took all her willpower to not get up and go find this...this...Serafina and do all in her power to at least take one of his children and bring it back. "Gaa-Kun...I'm really sorry...If i was a real Ninja i'd.." What else could she say? What else could she do but try and stay with him? Pulling her jacket closer around her and leaning against him, she couldn't help but cry a bit. She couldn't understand why he had to suffer so much...

Great. Now he'd have to keep a close eye on her so that she wouldn't run off and get herself killed. Wonderful. "Brie...Listen to me...It's not that bad. Don't go and get yourself killed for my sake. I am not happy, but...i can live." Leaning down to nuzzle her cheek, he smiled gently. "Though i do thank you for worrying about me." Wrapping his tail around her to keep her warm, he hoped that tonight wouldn't be a lonely one. "Now...Something is troubling you and i'd like to know what. After all, it's not every day you'd warn me that you were there, you know."

"Whatev..." She shrugged off his first statement, fighting back her blush from his nuzzle. She'd never expected that from him of all people. And then his tail...How'd he know she was col- oh right, her tugging the jacket. But his next question blew her out of the water. He knew without asking.
"...Kyuhyun's gone, Gaa-kun...so is Samael...And the dreams...the dreams have changed. He's gone and there's only sound now..." she lay down and put her head on her paws, willing herself not to break out into tears. "I don't know what to do without my kids...and...If he's gone then that means..he's not for me..."

Both alone. Both with broken families. Both lost. Would the similarities ever end? He looked at her softly, regretting the days he flung her off of him as she ran and pounced on him in a fit of 'fangirlism'. She was hurting as much as he was. All he could do was lay his head down close to hers. "...I'm no sure what i can tell you apart from 'walk on'. Go on with your life and don't look back. Don't look back until you can look back and laugh." he fell silent for a moment, marveling at him being on this side of the conversation. "As for who is meant for you...stop waiting and find someone to be with until someone comes for you, okay? It's not worth being miserable over..."

She felt like storming off, saying she'd rather have no one than keep waiting for so long. But he was right. As much as she hated to admit it...he was right. leaning over to lean on him, she let out a sigh. "Gaara...why can't we turn back the clock? Then i...would probably be able to actually -be- with you instead of being where i am now..." she adjusted her glasses before continuing. "I mean...i'm not so much a fangirl now as i was back then but..." Suddenly, something he said gave her an idea. A long-shot idea...but an idea. "Gaa-Kun....How about we get together for a while? I mean...Be like...temporary mates...just until we find someone...?"

Now HER question blew him out of the water. But he seriously considered it. After all, didn't they spend a lot of time together already? Didn't they know each other well enough now? ...But what if he hurt her? What if he grew attached to her...Then she found someone? He'd be crushed. And the opposite..what if that happened? "...Brie...It's not exactly something that would be fun and games. In the end, one of us could be hurt, you know. And i'm not sure i'd like to....I don't want to hurt you like that..."
