Grumbling to himself, the very timid stallion picked his way out of the edges of a forest. Ever since his father had found Serenade, the both of them had been teaming up on him about how he had to do more than just hide. Really, hovering around a hole, or a broken tree was fun! Everything else seemed more frightening to him than the chance he might "slip and hurt himself." He was an adult, not an idiot.

Still, he understood their point. He didn't quite embrace it, though.

For fear that he would hear more from the two of them, he complied enough to wander to the outskirts of the forest. There, see? Wasn't he being sooo social out on the open like this? It wouldn't be his fault if no one talk to him. He would be able to report to his father that indeed there was no point in doing it. They would stay on his case, but he'd always be able to reference the time where he tried, but no one else did.

If only. Kiche wasn't good enough at hoping, and he also wasn't good enough at looking at his surroundings. This place was more than just empty. Not packed, no, but he wasn't the only one around. His grey and black form stood out from the greenery of the foliage around him, no matter how much he would deny it.

Snorting to himself, his eyes glued to the ground, he waited for nothing, because that's what he wanted.

As for Keegan, while she could enjoy her 'alone time' away from the possible hoardes if she ABSOLUTELY HAD TO, there was something she enjoyed so much more about being out there and totally in the group and being heard. Not exactly the annoying 'right in the group, nownownownow!' individual by any means, but she was certainly one to be heard.

...
..
And seen.

Probably at the same time, if not, seen before heard. Currently color-vibrating amongst the greenery of the forest, content to trot along at her own happy little pace with her head held high and attacking greeting strangers. OH what a wonderful li-...
....
.... Hmmmm, her 'anti-social being is in the vicinity' senses were tingling! Or maybe that was her sinuses, who knew. Either way, one poor fellow who was just trying to do his best and AVOID CONTACT was about to be blindsided (or just blinded)by someone who was rather content to just settle up in a spot that was close enough to him and just...
...
Stare. Not for a long time, but long enough to see if staring would trigger that 'Ohae, eyes on me, WTF' jitters in her victim before sidling up closer with an almost creepy smile on her face.

"Is there something interesting on the ground there?" she asked, a little louder than was appropriate for typical conversation, looking down at the ground where Kiche was staring as well.

Kiche didn't have the sense of 'eyes on me'. In fact, he didn't really notice anyone around him until it was too late. And right now, it indeed was a little too late.

"Wha?" he said, spooked as his head jerked up, his eyes meeting with green ones. Green...wait. Those were eyes right? And that....that one someone talking to him, right?

Oh s**t.

Kiche felt his stomache lurch. Damn it. He was quite in a pickle, and he didn't quite know what to do. He paused, quite a long pause that certainly grew awkward before his voice stumbled something out of that mouth of his.

"N-No," he studdered, his voice's pitch not quite stable. "J-Just looking....t-that's all..."

Oh winds, she was bright. Like, really bright. What was he supposed to do in a situation like this?
PostPosted: Fri Feb 27, 2009 12:35 pm

Ha! Her, bright?? If he wanted bright, he would have to meet her mother! That was one brightly-colored mare, right there! But alas, Keegan had yet to have nurtured any creepy stalker ability to peer into the minds of others like a prying sack of do not want.

However, she was enough trouble just by herself without throwing in any secret abilities that would make a mary-sue cry with approval. Nope, she was just bright and had impeccable timing in this case. Depending on who was accounting for said timing in this case.

"Oh. Looking...." she trailed off, looking from Kiche to look at the ground and even tilting her head just a bit to make a ... face. Not exactly one that easily placed itself with a verb, but a face. She was obviously considering something that had to do with the ground.

...

"Well it's not very interesting to look at. Doesn't change or do anything either." FROWN. Well, seemed a lack of energy was something she didn't approve of in the ground!

How dare it stay stable and not have a random earthquake whenever she so deemed!

How....how weird. He finally arched his head and neck up, so he wouldn't be so stiff as he stared at the ground. She was certainly something he had never come across. Not...that he really knew many. The few he knew were more soft-spoken. While she wasn't rude, she certainly...didn't think about what she was saying.

He was almost intrigued. Almost. It was a little too much to really tell her why he was doing what he was doing. She'd probably laugh at him anyway.

"Ah...w-well there was something there earlier," he said a little more clearly, his studdering easing as his mind switched gears slightly. "I was....I was waiting for it to come back."

His wings ruffled slightly as he folded them tight against his body, visibly nervous. A stranger, and it had to be a girl, too. Ugh. Girls mystified him. They were so...so weird.

Hmmm, curious curious. So it was a stake-out was it? How wonderfully fascinating!!

Which of course would have to bring the next and very very expected question on Keegan's part. "What was it?" she asked, her own feathers ruffling as her wings shifted about as she contemplated if a few good downstrokes would disturb the dirt and maybe show off whatever it was he'd been looking for.

Or at least make the ground look a little more interesting.

...
..... But first she'd have to check and see just what it was (or what he'd claim it was, as little did she know, it didn't actually EXIST) for the sake of her own curiousity. As darnit, vanishing somethings-or-other were at LEAST 80% more interesting than say...
...
..

Something-or-others that just stayed there.

Ohhhh, crap. He had do make something up really quickly didn't he? Well, he knew that he had seen something, but he wasn't sure what it was.

"Ahh," he started again, like he always did. Stupid oaf needed more assurance of himself to speak up. "It was kinda furry, but small. And it was here for a moment, and then disappeared." Like....like magic!

"I'm trying to f-figure out..." oh dear, his nerves got the best of him again. He had looked up over at her for a moment, and it hit him that he was talking to someone. And not himself. So he clammed up again, panicked that he'd screw something up. Not that there was really anything to screw up, but Kiche was pretty talented. "What....it w-was."

Like staring at the ground was really going to tell him what it was. Unless it appeared again!

Pity that gophers never re-emerged when they knew that there was something out there waiting for them.

HMMM. Well that was definitely something that was most curious!

Fuzzy with invisible powers! She definitely was of the 'want to know about this' affinity in the case of this mysterious disappearing fuzzy thing, making a 'hmmm' sound and half-staring at the ground in a contemplative manner.

"Well, maybe it'll come back out if we go hide somewhere!" she offered as a suggestion, looking to the stallion and folding her wings back against her back, as it seemed that they would be no use in his situation. Certainly more useful in a case of just moving dirt and leaves around.

...
.....

As she had never really believed they would render her capable of FLYING in any shape or form. Ha ha ha...
...

But either way, Keegan was first to romp over the closest 'hiding' she could see: two trees that really needed to take a break from each other as it was obvious the roots were inter-growing and frankly it would have served a better hiding place if Keegan wasn't..
.... y'know, bright red.

"H-hide?" He was a pro at hiding! ...but that was when he was hiding by himself. Hiding with someone else? His mind only drew up a blank. He shook himself away from his blank slate mind to follow the red mare curiously, trying to be as quiet as he could be. If tripping over small stones and snapping sticks was quiet, then man was he the pro.

Once he had actually made it to the too-freidnly trees, it hit him that hiding with someone who was not only red, but RED....might not work out so well.

"Ermm..." he mumbled under his breath, quickly deciding that saying something about it would be beyond rude. From what he could tell (from far away, mind you), girls didn't like comments about themselves unless it was all good. And Kiche knew he'd ruin it before he even finished his thought.

So he followed along, slipping nearby the mare.

"Uhhh...I-I'm Kiche, by the way." Oh gosh, nervous nervous.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 27, 2009 3:41 pm

Well as far as HE knew, it wasn't as though there was anything to hide FROM, so her brightness didn't really hinder anything. Not that she knew about this SECRET EVIL that was being made up while she just... peeked through a gap in the trees at the spot they'd both just trotted away from.

Oh ho ho!

Now weren't they sneaky! Not that anything that would POSSIBLY pop up from that spot (if it existed) wouldn't see Keegan and her bright =redness= and not go 'EEK!!!' and throw itself right back into hiding. Bright red was definitely a color of danger. Ohhh how she seemed it too.

DANGEROUS WOMAN. Or just loud. Whatever.

"Kiche? That's an odd-sounding name." she answered, repeating it a few times before she just settled for shaking her head. Nnngh.

"Mine's Keegan." she gave in turn, adding on a little, "Isn't it odd sounding?" Okay, so maybe for her 'odd' was a good thing? Who knew.

His ears flattened against his head. What, his name? Odd? He almost snorted, but held back his urge in case....it didn't turn out well. Y'know, he really didn't need to get half trampled for talking back to someone like her. Eyeing her tail....yeah, she didn't seem like someone you should piss off.

"T-thanks, I think," he said, hopinf that it was safe enough. Especially since she called her own name odd. It sorta was, since he thought it was more masculine rather than feminine. But....you never knew, did you?

Man, this just proved that girls were weird. She was like, the definition of weird.

"N-nice to meet you. I....I gotta say, if you think it's odd...then it must be." Oh geez, hopefully he didn't open a can of worms over this.

And with all this talking going on, the little gopher got brave enough to stick it's nose out of it's hole in the ground, wondering just where that food went that it dropped when it fled from Kiche earlier.

Her? Recognize the stigma connected (literally) to her rump? Certainly not. She wasn't a 'gentle' creature by any means, but she was still a skipping-stone's toss from being purposely violent as it was. "Hee, you don't really like asserting yourself, do you?" Keegan pointed out in observation.

Which was how it would seem with the stutters and the pauses in his sentences.

The strange bugger he was. Not that she was a good judge of character by any means as it was. Since she TOO was a very strange bugger. Ha ha. In fact, she was probably one of the stranger ones that were limited by looking like they were 'normal' and not having the face of a plant of a tree growing out of their butt.

Just her tail there, kthnx.

However, her attentions were caught by the slight movement in the one spot she'd been watching. Oooooh, magical teleporting THINGY was a go!

Kiche couldn't help but snort. Once he realized what he had done, though, his eyes widened. Oh, s**t. He really didn't mean to do that! Thank goodness his father wasn't around; he'd get a sound scolding for that one!

"Ermmm," he started out again. Was it really that obvious? He guessed it was. Was there any point in going around it? Maybe. It was pretty damn embarassing, but he didn't know what to do about it. "No."

She was like, the opposite of him. Almost. At least she wasn't bubbly, jumping around, tossing her mane everywhere and acting like some of the mares he had seen from afar. They were pretty, but those where the ones that he would be most afraid of. Like, literally run-away-afraid of them.

Thankfully, blessed by something, the attention of both of them turned to the little gopher that was sticking out more than just it's nose. The head popped up, scanning the area for movements before scrambling out of it's hole.
