It had been a long time coming. Ever since Moricorm had left, Mabaka had known this day would come sooner or later. And so, it was with a heavy heart one day in the beginning of her adolescence that she sought out her mother, solemn-faced and serious.

Muli had started understanding why her soul-sister and mother loved the green so much...Being surrounded by it was just...magical. It was like being surrounded by the sidhe her mother had taught her about. And right now...since no one had sought her out for a story or to watch over a cub, she was reclining in the lower branches of an old, thick tree. The wet warmth of the jungle was something she'd adjusted to by now...even learned how to pick scents out of all the smells the jungle offered.
Like that of her 'blood-stained' daughter. Opening an eye, she looked about and smiled at the red-and-white form coming near here. "Hello, Mabaka. You look worried...Is everything okay?"

"I need to talk to you, Mother. It's important," Mabaka said softly, offering her mother a sad smile and skillfully jumping up into the tree to drape herself on a tree branch near Muli.

Muli blinked and returned the sad smile with a comforting one. "I'm all ears, sweetling." She adjusted herself a bit, so she was more comfy as well as attentive. "Now what troubles you?"

"It's... Well, I think it's time I left here. According to Moricorm, there's an entire pride of demons out there somewhere... I can't just stand by... I have to leave and do something about it," Mabaka said, looking at her mother seriously and anxiously. "You understand... Right?"

Muli frowned. It would seem her own cubs would follow the tradition of the heroes she grew up listening about. Off to fight young. She sighed. And knowing her young ones...there would be nothing she could do about it. Not and let them keep their free will. The bard smiled sadly at her daughter. "I do. It...is painful to hear that one of my little ones wants to...to go against those like Moricorm. But I do understand."

"I'm glad you understand Mother. After everything she did to Uhuru... Even as a cub... To think there's a whole pride of those like her scares me. I want to protect others from them..." Mabaka said, smiling and shiftly to place a paw over her mother's. "I promise... I'll keep you updated on my safety as soon as I find a way."

Muli sighed. "I know...It is a scary thought. And...I do want to know you'll be safe. At least...come visit every few moons?" Now she knew how her mother felt. Now that the cubs were older, old enough to fend for themselves, she would need to find her mother and visit. "I will miss you. Have you...have you talked with your father yet?"

"I'll visit as often as I can. And no... I'll talk to him when I can..." Mabaka said, her lips quirking slightly. She was glad her mother understood. It made things a whole lot easier.

Muli sighed in relief. "Just...be gentle. You know how your father is." She chuckled. "We'll all give you a proper goodbye." Yes...all the family. Even Maluuni and Hoistui and Ia'duin...That made her frown. Maluuni had told frightening things to Muli. "Sweetheart...just remember that appearances aren't everything. And...sometimes the most unexpected creatures can be your allies."

Did his ears deceive him? Was...was Mabaka leaving?! She...she couldn't! Not without him! The mostly-grown leopon male stared up at his mother and sister, surprised they hadn't noticed him. And shocked by what he'd heard. "Mabaka..." His voice wasn't quiet...but it was a little squeaky, from trying not to cry.

The sound of Uhuru's voice made the young leopon jump slightly, and she quickly turned to look at her beloved brother. With a small smile and a glance at her Mother, she leapt down and nuzzled against Uhuru's side. "Are you going to come with me? Or am I making this journey by myself?"

Muli startled at Uhuru's voice, then sighed. Well...if she knew how close the two were...Uhuru would be following his sister. She smiled sadly. He would have had to go traveling someday anyways...He was a bard, just as she was. And a bard had to travel to learn. One day, even she would travel again, if only for a bit. "If you go Uhuru...just promise you'll visit. And bring back new songs and stories to share."

Uhuru blinked, sniffed, then nuzzled his sister back. "Of course I'm coming! I...I can't let you go on your own..." His ears drooped with his expression. "You'll get lonely. And...and what if you get hurt!? Someone has to be there to get help..." He looked up to his mother and nodded. "Of course! You're Mom. Why wouldn't I come back to visit?"

"Does that mean you'll be patching me up when I get hurt?" Mabaka asked, grinning and teasingly tugging on her brother's ear. She was glad he'd agreed to come. The journey would have been very lonely without him...
