January 109
Riordan glanced around the academy, standing just inside the entrance. This was going to be his new home... no mom looking over his shoulder and fussing over him every time he got a bump or bruise. The boy pulled his coat about him more before heading to put his stuff away in the male dorms. Once that task was done, he decided to wander about the academy and familiarize himself with his new surroundings.
First on the list (and most important): to find where he'd get fed. For this... he could probably follow his nose. And so the short boy started to explore.

Emi was headed toward the girls dorm when she saw a fairly short boy. He looked to be about five feet. She stood above him by about seven inches. He wore the recruit uniform. He seemed to be heading toward the mess hall. Probably looking for food, she thought. Emi laughed to herself. She remembered how her brother was like when he was hungry. She would try to find out more about the boy. Maybe become his friend.

Riordan did not seem to realize he was the object of scrutiny as he wandered slowly about, his green eyes flicking about his new surroundings, trying to absorb too many details at once. Used to the City, this was not as large as he was used to. In addition to the smaller size, half of the area was set aside for training, so it didn't take him long to find where pretty much everything was located.
Now... what to do? He hadn't been given any orders or anything yet and thus... was fairly lost. And a bit bored.

Even though Emi was headed to her dorm she figured that she wouldn't do anything. She was to laid back to study. She could write if she wanted to but that would be hard because she had writer's block. She made up her mind to go and talk to the boy.
Silently she walked toward the shorter boy. She reached out to touch the boy's shoulder.

Lysander walked casually about the halls of the Academy. It was a pretty exciting place. The drills were challenging and there was always that sense of wonder. Lysander still had two years to go before he could bond, but he was excited nonetheless. He was always thinking about what kind of wolf he'd bond with. It never occured to him that he might not bond. Either way, the objective he'd set for this day was to search the grounds for something to do in his free time.
Lysander stopped dead in his tracks. Two people were standing there. He smiled mischievously. 'Well, lookie here. I've a feeling I've found my entertainment.' But to walk up and speak to them would be too easy, too simple. Lysander stood silently and out of sight to watch them. He would wait for the opprotune moment to make his entrance. For now, he would just observe.
The boy was five feet tall (an entire foot shorter than himself), give or take a few inches, messy brown hair, unimpressive. The girl had long black hair and looked to be about five and a half feet, maybe a couple inches over. He couldn't tell much more looking at them from the back. The girl was walking toward the boy, apparently attempting to get his attention by tapping on his shoulder. The boy had been looking around. So far, the scene was fairly boring.

Riordan gave a bit of a start as something tapped on his shoulder. He turned and corrected himself. Not something, someone. A female someone. A girl. The boy licked his lips quickly before speaking. "O-oh. Hi." Drat! What did you say to people? "Er... I'm kinda new here..." Well, that worked. And was true. "I'm Riordan." He gave a nervous smile, gazing upwards at this girl. Drat his short stature!

Emi blinked her eyes twice before giggling softly. She was sure that he could hear her. "Hi. You're kind of shy aren't you, Riordan? My name is Emi. Emi Cross, and welcome to the Academy. By the way how old are you? I just don't want to say anything that might offend you and do you want to hang out for sometime?" Emi said as she looked down towards the boy. It felt weird because most guys were taller then her.

"Uh... a bit." He blushed a bit. "Thanks, uh.. Emi." The next question made him blush harder. A lot of people mistook him for someone younger... "I'm 15," he stated, reaching up to mess with his hair for a bit. He wished he'd hit that growth spurt everyone kept telling him he'd get soon.
"Hang out? Uh... I guess. I don't really know anyone... so.. sure." Might as well start making friends somewhere, huh?

Emi laughed as Riordan blushed. "15 huh? Looks like I'm two years older than you and don't worry you still have plenty of time to grow, unlike me." Emi pouted slightly. "Oh and about the friend thing. You'll make plenty in no time. You might want to be careful with the Drill Sergeant, Adrian Black. He may seem really scary so be ready." Emi tried to decided what they should do. "Well, I'm just guess but, you look like you haven't had much to do with fight. What do you say we go train a bit then we can go get some food. I just don't want you throwing up while we're fighting. So what do you say?"

Riordan nodded and managed a smile. "Yeah, everyone says that..." He made a mental note about the Drill Sergeant. It seemed the guy was tough if she was giving him advance warning. "Er, yeah... my mom didn't want me fighting..." he muttered. "I'd be glad for some help." Anything to keep him from gaining the attention of the Drill Sergeant sounded good at this point. "I can wait to eat some..." And he had a feeling he probably would throw up if he did eat beforehand...

The smile on her face fell. "Oh, my bad if that made you feel offended." She hadn't meant to make him feel bad. "Well, come on. I think that we should find a place with not a lot of people. That way it will be easier to learn so moves. We'll work on open areas first. Also, if you feel like you're going to throw up please tell me. I'm used to fighting but i don't want to push you." Emi started walking toward the training field.

Riordan shook his head. "No, no. I'm just... tired of always hearing it and not seeing it..." He shrugged and followed the girl. "Okay..." Getting some training in early would definitely help... and he just hoped he wouldn't get sick. That'd be so... embarrassing...

Emi lead the boy to a spot on the training field. She abruptly stopped and spun around to face Riordan. She looked at him then thought for a few moments. "Well, let's start you on your speed and agility. I'm starting you on this because even if your strong, you need agility and speed to help you deliver and dodge strong attacks. Well, that and he fact that it's my specialty. So this is how we're going to start. I want you to try and dodge my attacks. Don't worry, I'll make them light." Emi walked so she was a couple feet from Riordan. She wanted him to be a least a little ready for her.

Lysander followed them silently to the training field, thinking a bit about wha had just happened. They said they were going to train and on speed and agility. Hey, why not? Sparring in their free time... Seemed like a good idea to him. It was now that he decided to step in. He stepped from the shadows and, although they probably didn't even know he was there, waved. To assure that they noticed his presence, he called, "Hey, guys! Mind if I join?" Lysander had never sparred before, but it didn't even cross his mind that they might not let him join.

The boy listened as Emi did some explaining and nodded. "Okay." Try not to get hit, that sounded rather straightforward. He had a feeling it wasn't going to be easy, though. He shifted his weight from foot to foot for a moment to loosen up. About the time he gave a nod to Emi that he was ready, a voice called out from behind him.
Riordan blinked and glanced towards the other recruit. Great... someone else taller than him. He had a feeling he was going to run into a lot of them... "Er..." He glanced back at Emi and shrugged.
