The air was cold despite the sun that hung high in the cloudless sky. A puff of breath clouded before a ghostly white muzzle as ruby red eyes narrowed. The owner stood perched on a rocky ledge overlooking the forest he had lived in, at least up until the last week he had. He snorted and turned away from the sight. It was more clear then ever that he was no longer welcome in that place. Now it seemed this was his home.

Deidren took a few steps away from the ledge and slowly surveyed his new surroundings. Snow covered the rocky landscape and the few bare trees that were scattered about. He imagined that there was likely a thin sheet of ice beneath it all, at least in a few places. This place was far from home despite how close it really was.

He had been forced up here and while he did not like it in the least it would be best to at least get to know his surroundings. After all the stallion did not know if this situation would be temporary or permanent. With a short flick of his silvery tail he began to make his way through the snow. It was every bit as cold as he remembered it. His coat was deceptive. While it looked thick and warm it was thin and the icy feel of the snow cut through him like a knife.

(Will replace this with her cert once it comes)

Perhaps unknown to the soquili stallion, a pair of the palest blue eyes watched the newcomer. White coat as pristine as newly-fallen snow with the faintest of icy blue markings upon slender legs, camouflaged the native female amongst snow and ice. Yet the doe was far from bold even with her colouring, the graceful body, built for roaming the highest of snow-covered peeks, was secreted behind a rocky outcropping. The patchwork of dark rock and white snow was distracting to look at, making the female behind almost completely invisible as graceful head peeked round the rough stone spire. Large, thickly-furred ears flickered this way and that, keeping the surrounding mountainside under surveillance even whilst the visitor commanded her attention.

She was not a native to this particular mountainside, rather she had come from a land some distance away. Travailing on the outskirts of her herd. She was Cerynei, a distant relative of the native soquili, yet it had been some weeks since she had arrived in the immediate area and knew how to conceal herself. Silent and motionless she watched the darkly-coloured stranger climb slowly up towards her rock. Stepping backwards out of sight she twisted round between the two columns of snow-covered boulders and stepped carefully over the snow to peer out from the other side. Split-toed hooves finding purchase through the snow and ice, kicking up a fine puff of white powder from the thin layer of new snow that had yet to freeze or harden.

As he climbed a few hairs at the base of his neck prickled. His crimson eyes narrowed further as he slowed his pace. Slowly he scanned the surrounding area for signs of anything out of the usual rocks and snow. This feeling, he knew this feeling all to well, it was the feeling of being watched. It was one of the things that had never spelt good news for him. What was worse was he could not seem to find the cause for the troublesome prickling.

Letting out a heavy sigh he picked up his pace once again. There was nothing out there. It was all rocks and snow and ice for as far as he could see. He was about to let the sensation slide by as simple paranoia when something strange came into his sight. A little flurry of snow that had no cause as far as he could tell. It seemed that someone was watching him after all. Snorting angrily he charged towards the area he saw it at. His progress was slowed greatly as his hooves found a hidden patch of ice.

Deidren's eyes went wide as he scrabbled to get a footing on the ice. After a short moment of slipping and sliding about like a fool he managed to get himself stabilized. He huffed angrily and decided that the world had it out for him before storming off to get back on track. One step out and he slid once again. Completely unprepared he lost his balance and fell heavily and gracelessly to the ground.

The slender female watched the visitor from behind the rocks, curious if timid about the stranger. The sudden snort and charge across the deep snow froze her to the spot for a fraction of a second. Hooves planted on the rock under the snow in fear. Yet a moment later, with a shrill whiney of her own, she shot out from behind the rocky covering, pale body leaping high in the air. Slim legs tucking up tight against pale underbelly as she flew over the snow, the glittering white spray of snow powder that rose around her sparkled on her coat where it caught.

The sudden shift in the stranger's charge caused the doe to slither to a halt, head up high atop sleak neck, ears pinned back against her pale coat. Near-white gaze wide and startled as she watched the male skid over the ice-bound rocks under the snow. The sudden heavy thud as the male went over reverberated through the ground, making the doe wince. After a moment she stepped forward cautiously, ears pricked forwards, ready to bolt to safety at any moment, yet she crept carefully through the snow to where the stallion had fallen.

Mother nature hated him. It was the only explanation and with a bitter chuckle to himself he decided he shouldn't be surprised. He was yet to meet a mother of any kind that liked him. This particular one had sought to spite him from birth. He knew she had. Why else would he have been born with a coat that could not blend in anywhere? A twisted smile fell on his face. Why else would he be stuck with a mother who wanted a man that sent wolves to kill her son?

As he thought about his ill fortune, lying on the ground, he began to get the feeling he was being watched again. He had almost forgotten what he had been doing before he fell. While he was struggling on the ice he hadn't been paying enough attention to what was going on around him. That would be his downfall one of these days. Without any further thought he lifted his head and whipped it around and found himself looking at a strange white creature.

He blinked once thinking that he had hit his head. When it was still there he blinked again. Still there. Not wanting to even attempt getting up on the ice again he stayed put but put on his usual cold expression. He could at least give the illusion that he was still a threat. "What the hell?" He asked simply staring. He assumed this creature was alive but what a freakish little thing. It looked something like a horse but with weird hooves, no mane to speak of, and some sort of misshapen tail. It almost made more sense to assume he was dreaming.

The stallion would hae almost been hidden from sight, laying flat out on his side as he was, if not for the very dark colouring of his coat. Tilting her head, she noted that he was the perfect colour for hiding amid the snow-tipped rocks. His so very pale hair and white marking with that pitch coat.. he seemed almost made from the rock upon which he rested.

As he lay still, making no attempt to rise, the doe slowly grew in confidence and more than a little curiosity.

(to continue.. gota run right now)
